  • This was so good!! You can really cook. I made the mistake of not trimming the fat so for the viewers please listen to her and remove all fat. Also make sure you fry this on medium heat I forgot b/c she clearly says it in the video. I quickly corrected my mistake. Thank you! You rock!!!

  • @jordakj Thank you so much for trying this and posting your thoughts - I appreciate it :)

  • Can this be deep fried?

  • Best sweet and sour chicken how-to video eeeevvaaarrrr!!!

  • @pacohc713 Thank you - I appreciate this :)

  • All your Videos are amazing!! You Should make a Cook book!!

  • I just made this tonight with your Sweet and sour sticky sauce. It came fantastic. My brother was upstairs visiting my mom and smelled it. He came downstairs and I offered him some and he practically ate all of it.. He was my guinea pig. I always need a family member to try something before I serve it to friends or other company.. lol.. but he just loved it.. Im having company tomorrow and Im making more!! Thank you so much...

  • @ladyacephoto Thank you! I really appreciate this :)

  • can i use baking soda instead of baking powder?

  • and just like that we have awesome crispy sweet and sour chicken

  • @carllos25 lol - thank you :)

  • what kind of oil do you use and what kind of creamer?

  • @Bloodydice45 Here I used publix brand 1/2 and 1/2 creamer and Louana peanut oil :)

  • the recipe written instuctions said to use baking powder but when she was giving directions she stated baking soda which is it?

  • I've tried this recipe many times, It is awesome! Everyone loves it!

  • y do u keep on saying just like that

  • @popcorn1441 I shoot this unscripted, so it's something I just have a bad habit of saying (along with "go ahead") - I am trying to stop saying both of these :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy Man, why cant American food be as good as Chinese food? I might be going to my local Dragon Wall tomorrow :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy You're welcome. :)

  • Do you have to have a wok or can you use any frying pan?

  • what i did was after the chicken was ready.. i added some mix veggies to the skillet and added the sweat and sour sauce and some oil and fired it all up. ANd then added all the chcikend and some more sauce and then served with boiled rice..

  • wow =]

  • VERY VERY GOOD! Trying this TODAY! Thanks!

  • can we add cooking cream or just %2 milk instead of half and half creamer?

    thanks

  • Half and half is just a mix of half cream and half milk. If you use just the cream the batter will be a bit richer, but if you use the 2% milk it may not be as good b/c it will be athough it were watered down just a bit :)

  • could you write the ingredients on the information bit at the side please? It would really help

    :)

  • Can we I add anything to the batter to spice up the chicken at all? If so what would you recommend?

  • I would add some ground hot chili pepper if you want it spicy :)

  • Oh my goodness - I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel! you make so many good things that I've always wanted to know how to make!! Everything sounds so good I can't wait to start trying these out! :)

  • Just like that!!

  • hahahhahahahahahahhahaha just like that!!! :P

  • I found that with the batter it wasn't as runny as it needed to be so I added another 1/3 cup of creamer.

In other recipes instead of 1/3 cup creamer and 1/3 cup water they call for 1 cup of water so I just added another third of a liquid to balance it out and it worked.

  • oops, I must have missed it the first time, you clearly said soft.

  • I couldnt tell if the chicken came out soft or more crunchy, Anyway thanks, I'm going to try this.

  • Is the baking powder compulsory or choice? Please help.

  • The baking powder adds to the texture it gives it just a slight soft bread like feel :)

  • That was pleasant to watch and the entire recipe seems easy to follow, although I haven't cooked it yet, I'm pretty confident after watching you explain it like that. I also wanted to ask is creamer the same as half and half?

  • Yes coffee creamer is the same as half and half - it's a mix of 1/2 milk and 1/2cream :)

  • Wow great thanks alot, i've been looking for a recipe like this!

Do you know how to cook coconut chicken, if so please make a video! Thanks again :D

  • Yes, I will put this on my request list - thanks for watching :)

  • thank you...

  • Your video on this recipe is the best one I have found. Great job on the video and letting us know how to do everything. :)

  • Could you use this batter for your sesame chicken recipe if you wanted a less crunchy coating?

  • Yes - this would make the chicken lighter and fluffier :)

  • Wow! you make everything look so easy and approachable! Thank you for your posts and I'm going to try this recipe tonight! You are great!

  • what is creamer? i've never heard of it

  • Creamer is what you use in coffee - it consists of half cream and half milk :)

  • thank you x

  • thank you, this is the 2nd time ive made this, and its amazing, thank you so much.

  • I just used our local grocery store's brand - Publix :)

  • how about honey bbq wings

  • I'll put this on my request list :)

  • hi, I made this and my batter cooked really fast and my chicken was stringy and not really done. I used canolia oil and heated it on high until hot then I turned it down to level 6. My stove controls are: lo-sim-2-3-4-medium-6-7-8-high. What would you reccomend I do. Great recipe by the way

  • Hi - since the batter cooked quicker than the chicken, I'm thinking that the temperature was probably too high. The best thing to do would be to get an oil thermometer and keep the temp at about 350F :)

  • If you don't have a Wok can you use a vintage electric skillet/fry pan instead? Please let me know!

  • Although I have never seen a vintage electric skillet, as long as it is deep enough for frying it should be fine :)

  • hi, im from Australia and we dont have creamer. What exactly is it?, are there any suitably substitutes? thankyou, keep up the great work ;)

  • Creamer is actually a mix of half cream and half milk. It's what is put into coffee to lighten it. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks for watching :)

  • I tried your recipe and it turned out great... keep up the good work :)

  • thank you!!

i made this, and it turned out great :D

  • thank you soo much!!

can i use canola oil instead?

    please anwser

  • Yes you can use Canola oil :)

  • that chicken is so good

  • Looks great....just like the buffet! We ordered this for take-out tonight. I need to make these dishes on my own!!!

Do you ever make shrimp in lobster sauce?

  • Yes - and I have "shrimp in lobster sauce" on my request list. I'll post it soon :) Thanks you for the comments :)

  • Thank you very much for the recipe. I made it and it was just amazing! Will make again for sure.

  • hi im from the uk and can someone please tell me what this creamer is,thanks as i aint got a clue lol

  • Hi - creamer is a 1/2 milk and 1/2 cream combination that is used in coffee. It is also called 1/2 and 1/2 here in the US. Is there an equivalent to this in the UK? Let me know so I can tell others - thanks :)

  • Nice work, we liked your video very much so we embedded it on ChefCommons . com w/ link back and reference to Youtube. (Let us know if you don't wish for it to be featured)

  • MMmm.. thanks!

  • Just the recipe I was looking for, kudos to you.

  • how many people would you think this would serve? (i was thinking of sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice(also using your rice recipe ;D))

  • Both the chicken and the rice would make about 3 servings. If you make this, let me know what everyone thinks :)

  • I JUST love ur resipes, you JUST keep adding more, icant JUST wait to watch! I hope u go ahead and JUST do what u do.

    JUST delish... JUST amazing.

  • hello, can you upload a video showing how to make all those hot sauces from the buffets, please because i love them

  • This is a great idea - I'll try to do a vid on this soon :)

  • Wow awsome awsome. My only question is how to make it more crispy? also to my sweet and sour sauce I added pnapple, carrot, onion and bell peper. Thank u for the reality of cooking this at home!

  • The batter here produces an airy light coating. If you want the chicken crispy, you can simply just dip it in egg white and then in cornstarch; like if you were making fried chicken. Your additions to the sauce sound delicious :)

  • I tried it tonight for my wife and her parents with the Half and Half and I really did not see a difference in texture or taste or even while cooking it between the Half and Half and the powder creamer mixed with milk. However, I will say that it took a lot longer to mix the powder creamer and it kept lumping but I got 99% out of it though but it did take a while. Good recipe regardless, they were impressed. Plus powder creamer has a much longer shelf life opened or unopened.

  • I figured the lumping would be a problem; but this is good to know. Thanks for testing it out :)

  • Can you do this with chicken wings?

  • I wouldn't use this batter with chicken wings b/c it is more of a soft airy coating. I would just do a little egg white and either flour or cornstarch for the wings :)

  • hi! I just wanna ask what's the best alternative for half and half creamer just in case I won't find this in the grocery store...Please reply I want to make this tomorrow...thanks :)

  • Half and half is just a mix of half milk and half cream. So regular coffee creamer will work - but not "light or skim." :)

  • Would powder creamer work? The only Half and Half I saw in the coffe section was these small single containers like you would find in the diner and then just regular powder creamers, but nothing with the "Half and Half" name... I am assuming I bought the wrong stuff.

  • Come to think of it when I make my Olive Garden Tuscany soup I think I saw the Half and Half next to the Heavy Whipping Cream...

  • Actually I mixed the powdered creamer with milk and a little extra milk instead of so much water and the batter looked like yours with color and from what I could tell consistency. I cooked the chicken, obviously burning some even though all was in the pan (One chicken breast worth just for me.) at the same time give or take a few seconds... on an electric stove. Regardless, although not quite like the buffet it was close enough and tender... I hope I cooked the chicken long enough.

  • Also I had a lot of the batter mix left over since I was really only trying it out since I did not have the actual "Half and Half". Can that batter be wraped with platic wrap and stuck in the refridgerator even after raw chicken was has already touched it? For how long do you think it can last? Or does raw chicken immediately start the process for spoiling?

  • No I wouldn't use the powdered creamer. If you can't find half and half, you can make your own by simply mixing a half portion of regular creamer to a half portion of whole milk. If you can't find regular creamer, then I would just use the whole milk over the powdered stuff :)

  • Thanks for the video Lila :)

I tried your recipe the other night and it was a hit

my mum really anjoyed it :)

now to try your sesame balls recipe

since they are my sisters favorite

    :D

  • great video, one of my favorites to make now...so simple, so good...thank you...keep them coming!!

  • This is nice video, well done. Ive been looking for a recipe for this dish It was one of my favorite when I was in China.

  • can you use milk instead of half and half?

  • I wouldn't because it will probably make the coating less spongy and more flat. Thanks for writing :)

  • ok thanks!

  • hi, i really like your videos, they are very descriptive and helpful, just curious to ask if you had a recipe for orange chicken??

  • Tried this, worked like a charm. My new favorite dish.

  • This... looks... so... good! Gotta try it.

  • hi i am from uk can you please tell me what creamer is please

is it what you can put in coffee

  • Yes, creamer is what you put in coffee:)

  • Whoa, I'm trying this tonight Lela! Thanks for the recipe! Do you have any recipes for walnut shrimp?

  • I figure you're talking about the deep fried battered shrimp with the sweet sauce and walnuts? I've made this a few times, but don't have a recipe written down. I'll write it up and post it sometime after the Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for the comment:)

  • First, I apologize Lila, I spelled your name wrong. Yes, that is the dish! I can't wait for it, thank you. Btw, I tried this tonight and it was a hit! NO LEFT OVERS! Advanced Happy Thanksgiving! =)
