  • "So many beautiful buildings destroyed, on the other hand this side looks okay."

"Look! The rising sun of Japan!"

    "The sun is sitting dimwit."

  • I like the evil genius' voice in the jap version. A jap voice actor speaking english has never been so laughable.

  • Lol the main guy reminds of the Scout from Team Fortess somehow

  • This should have become a series!!

  • What did the subtitle say A Tale of Two Robots was part?

  • I adored this movie for many years since i was 12 18 years ago when i discovered this on TBS thanks to reading my local city's TV guide to see what will play on friday and saturday nights, i watched Heavy Metal, Robot Carnival, American Pop, Rock and Rule and Vampire Hunter D, loved them.

  • So much better than power rangers or transformers....

  • love manga animation so much

  • @itburns1234 Hes breaking copyright by showing it in the first place. No reason you cant either.

  • This anime has to the win the award for most terrible and stereotypical dubbing ever, but it does look damn good lol.

  • did otomo did the art for this funny cartoon?^^

  • @TheAngelmisa Nope. Just the opening and closing segments of "Robot Carnival".

  • @ApacheMan2K

but its weird the main character actually looks like a katsuhiro otomo drawing.^^

  • I LOVE HOW DIFFERENT THE GIANT ROBOTS ARE IN THIS SEGMENT. VERY STEAMPUNK.

  • lol the very first gundam wing robots? XD

  • dooooooood, when I was like 10 my uncle had this on at his house, and I watched it and was like wtf.... and then randomly I remembered it and now I'm downloading robot carnival.

  • That was hilarious! I loved it! It was awesome!

  • I really loved this segment of RObot Carnival. Shame stuff is pretty much low quailty now. This is really high quailty for being in the 80's.

  • Thx for posting this! ;)

  • Ah now this takes me back. Robot carnival is one of the few that has never been released on dvd to my knowlege. This first started showing on wtbs back in the day then it made it to scifi channel later. The only thing i do have from this is the original soundtrack. I found it at a suncoast before it closed. Hopefully someday this will make it to dvd. Thanks for posting.

  • Man, I miss old school anime like this. I love the rich colors, the puffy, curvy shapes, and the peppy, synthesized music. Great stuff.

  • I first saw this in the Mid 90's and Glad you Posted this, definitely one of my Favorite Animes Ever. Fun Stuff!

  • The should do a sequel to this segment alone. :D

  • My favorite part of that movie! Great over all DVD. And if you don't like a story, wait 15 minutes and get something roughly the same quality but completely different.

  • I think it's rather good for a dub, for once the characters msybe speaking English, but they do it with a lovely accent.~

Other than that, it's pure Japanese comedy, to me that you see later being used over and over in many animes, I think it's wonderful..

Thank you for the upload dear.

  • The accent and the voice acting is brilliant! listen to the way she says "everyone will know" it's just like a barking dog!

  • Still one of my favorites. The last lines have stayed with me down through the years...Especially "The sun is setting, Dimwit."

Thank you so much for uploading all of these. It does my heart good to see that some people still remember how mindblowingly awesome the old animes were.

  • I remember Cartoon Network aired this with the last of the cockroaches and Vampire hunter D, i was just a kid back then , but it was freaking great to see those great animes back then ^^

  • I remember when the Sci Fi channel aired this back in the '90's (when it was a network worth watching)...along with Vampire Hunter D, Lensman, and other very cool things. I think it was when I first really gained an appreciation for anime. So happy to see it here!

  • I want to know where the guy got the funding to build his giant robot. Did he have some sort of Conquer Japan With a Giant Robot Investment Group or something?

Boy, are his investors gonna be mad when he returns.

  • Thanks for the upload

  • XDD I love that part, "え" "a" xDD

  • English Dub is waaaay better ... my God, the voice action had me cracking up back in the day and I DL'ed the Japanese version... deleted it and came to Youtube. Shinbuden 2x2 another instance where the dub is hilarious.

  • hilariuos battle!!! tnx for posting!

  • In the original Japanese language version, the mad professor was actually speaking in english with a different voice actor providing the english voice.

  • The accents for the Japanese characters aren't actually racist. Just like any other country there are different dialects and accents for different regions, like Kansai vs Osaka. The English dub staff is just trying to recreate the sense of these characters sounding "hillbilly" by giving them weird accents. I really like it. Sounds like a hybrid of Polish and Italian.

  • It's not even the right kind of accent. It sounds like a fake Chinese one. I think they'd have been less goddamn annoying without an accent.

  • One of the many instances where English Dub is ten times better than the god awful original Japanese dub.

  • I agree totally!

  • 2:36 he'll never give up taking a dump

  • Cool

  • Love that slo-mo turn around "Banzaaaaiiiiii!!!"

    amazing, love robot carnival!

  • LOOLL that little man on the bridge didnt move in time.

  • OMG that lady sounds like the Landlady from kung fu hustle

  • HAHA! Kung Fu Hustle was freaking hilarious ... got it on Blu-ray....

  • I love the silly accent.

  • I can't express in words how much I love Robot Carnival

  • I can't imagine a more racist way to voice-act japanese people. Good times.

  • Racist, but so freakin hilarious!!! LOL

  • Yea. It's almost as if no one involved wit the dub had ever met a Japanese person.

  • Nice parody of Japanese WWII-era propaganda films.

  • douahou

  • I wonder if square enix watched this when they made rocket slime.

  • why is this related to square enix? please assist

  • In Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime

your team mans a large robot and tosses whatever items and weapons you have into a cannon

  • i see

  • It was because they had to keep them japanese, but still have it in english.

  • thanx for uploading it...seen it as a kid...great

  • O.M.G.

    They have no Teamwork .

  • Hehehe, very funny, I like that mad guy XD But it's a shame he never mentions his name. Every other crazy villain like him would have done that. :-D

  • What? Yes, he does. Go back and watch the part where he yells to them on the megaphone- he's Jonathan Jameson Volkerson the Third.

  • Oops, I probably missed that part. Thank you for telling me.

  • @Superkirbyfilm I wonder if his voice was in English in the original Japanese version, too.

  • @ApacheMan2K

yes its english thats why there a symbols on the side everytime he talks

thats like subtitles but on the side

  • Kids!

  • thank you thank you thank you

  • YES! I've finally got the chance to watch what I've been looking for so long! for some reason, these few shorts were stuck in my memory when I happened to come across it on TV at a young age.

  • There are DVDs of the movie that you can buy cheap online, but they're bootlegs in Japanese only and with terrible Engrish subs for the two dialogue shorts. However, if you go on Mininova or most torrent sites you can find a full 4.5 GB transfer from an actual DVD, so if you have the hard drive space and a DVD burner go check that out.

  • i have robot carnival on vhs and i watched it the other day. In my version the letters that appear at :39 are in English and they say "a tale of two robots - chapter 3: foreign invasion". Does anybody know if any more chapters were made or if "chapter 3" was just added to the name for stylistic value only?

  • The english-spoken japanese-accent characters were adorable!

But I like the mad professor. He's soo much like me, in a way. <;33

I believe my uncle has the DVD.. I'm not sure at all.. I should ask him. =/

Thanks sooo much for uploading these on YouTube! <;33

  • No reason not to. Show them the other shorts on Youtube as well, Franken's Gears and Nightmare are awesome.

  • woot 1ST. Amazing show! Domo Arigatou!
