A slightly different version is used on Betty Boop. You can see Louis Armstrong's head chasing a cartoon character as he sings this song - kind of spooky.
Atticus70, did you record directly off of the 78 record or have a digital copy for this post? I've had many 78 records in the past, and they sound horrible and scratchy. Just curious. This 80 year old recording sounds clean and crisp.
@dasfmn1997 I used a E+ copy, recorded it professionally with the correct stylus and equipment and made the sound restoration, like on all my recordings. OKeh Electrics have the best fidelity recorded in those years on shellac.
You just have a greater appreciation for music than most people your age who only listen top 10 stuff and rap. American music spans hundreds of years. Your blessed to be able to appreciate more than just Lady Gaga and other current 'superstars' who no one will remember 50 years from now.
You're right but some of my most precious records were not appreciated by many people when they were issued. I have learned to live with the fact that the majority of the people regardless of the time they are living are listening to crap. Today, you can find good music in the underground...
Louis sang this to King George! HAHA!

I love the line variation "I'll be standing on the corner elevated - when they bring your body dilapidated!"

I first heard this in The Last of the Blonde Bombshells with Judi Dench. It sounded great with a brass band.
