  • Physical Therapists must now have a PhD. I also don't know any RPT that makes 100K a year unless they have there own practice. Even at that, many private practice RPT's are having a difficult time making ends meet. In fact, I've read where more and more PT's feel they may be forced to close their practice with the new Medicare and HMO cuts coming up Oct. 2011.

  • This is simply just false information..

  • Wait..to be a PTA you have to go to school for 8 years?! I heard it was only 2.. Is she right? o___o Please answer.

  • @MrNikooruchan PTA is an Associates degree. No you don't need 8 years.

  • @MrNikooruchan PTA's need 2 years of education, a semester of that, typically your last semester is mostly working, anywhere from 300-450 hours, great experience, and you usually get hired right away with all the experience. Also you can be licensed and that helps with pay. 25-35 an hour is the usuall starting salary and thats with an AS degree. With 3-5 years exp you can expect 40-50 an hour, pay is amazing.

  • "A physical therapist provides physical therapy...." Really?! I didn't know that -___-

  • Is there anyone who can tell me how many hours a day PT's work?

And do they have weekends off? Vacation time?

  • @Lavenda44 Im doing observation hours at a PT facility, they have weekends off and work 8-5 monday thru friday.

  • They do make this...I see it all over..It might be 25/hour to 40/hr for home health but they make this its a great field...

  • i really dont think a physical therapist assistant makes $30 dollars a hour lol

  • @occuther she's definitely giving higher range salaries..not all starting PTAs and PT's will make those salary ranges.

though i am going to school with someone who works as a PTA while he's in school getting his doctorates in PT, and they pay him between $20-$40 an hour doing PTA work, depending on the day.

  • @PotentialWhale that does not make any sense...how can you pay someone between 20 and 40 dollars? that range is A HUGE hourly variation and i dont see how thats possible...

  • @occuther $20/hr on a normal day, $30/hr on weekends or overtime, $40/hr during holiday times (as in not just the holiday but the whole week it is in).

though to be fair, this is in the northeast and typically PTAs get paid more here.

  • @occuther They do. My friend is one, and he makes about $30 an hour as a home care PTA.

  • @kingv911 : my friend! would you like to tell me that how many hours he can work in week ? please reply me if you can. thanks.

  • @rizwanaap He works a standard 40. Three days doing home care, the other two at a nursing home of the same company.

  • This is way off. wth? talking from PT to PTA back to PT and then ended with occupational therapy? Occupational therapy is a whole entire different field/degree.

Depending on where you live, you will get paid differently. For example if you are a PTA working in one state, you could get paid just as much as a PT working in a different state. It all depends on where you are (location and what type of setting) hospitals and outpaitent pay less, while homehealth and nursing home pay more.

  • well wat she meant was over all of being in school. bachelor which takes 4-5 yrs then master or doctorate 3 yrs. am getting my kinesiology degree then get my doctorate in pt.

  • Horrible video, this lady has as much knowledge on Physical Therapy as I have on alien space ships.... first there are 2 roads, Physical Therapist Assistants which is a 2.5 year program plus pre-recs and/or the Doctorate of Physical Therapy which is an undergrad degree (BS or BA of 4 years) then PT school which is another 3 years. Salaries vary from state/city/county/location. You want to know about PT, talk to a therapist, that is the most accurate information you can get!

  • @SRTMark Absolutely TRUE

  • 1.Masters degrees dont take 8 years

    2. PT dont start out at 90 grand

THIS IS COMPLETE NONSENSE, dont watch

  • @Bwe97 so can you please tell me how it really is please considering this field

  • @Bwe97 Well you have to get your masters degree before you can even start the PT program. So if you add it all up, then yes it could take up to 8 years.

  • this couldn't be more wrong

  • Did she say 8 years school? + training?

  • @MARIAN1611 Yes She did! I think you need a Dr's degree to become one

  • what about a physical therapist assistant? is the same?

    please tell me something!! thanks!!

  • why all the arguments??? i don't get it. its either this was an accurate video or the information was wrong - which is it?

  • Great video.....thanks for your time.....

  • Haha really? I would like to know who employs you. I'm a DPT.

  • Really now your a DPT and you make 45k a year, well sucks for you cause me as an assistant rake in more than that! You must work in a 3rd world country to make that amount of cash hahahaha....

  • DPT is an American degree. Good job.

  • there are DPTs in 3rd world countries, money isn't everything. but then ofcourse you have such an "open" mind

  • yep that's correct thank you for giving us information that we already knew!!! People say that money isn't everything that's true in certain ways, but without money you can't buy a car, bike, food, etc If we didn't need money then the economy wouldn't be in the shape it's in, the sooner you get over the fact that money isn't everything the faster we as a country can make a difference!

  • WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG information!!

  • 90k for PTs? More like 45k.
