I agree, everyone is too nice in the community, just like in deviant art. maybe if we started a sort of skype conference for all XNA developers we would get better feedback.
This looks like a really interesting concept, almost like a shmup mixed with a dungeon crawler; I'm not a big fan of shmups (Something about being forced into a linear game puts me off alot of japanese games).
From what I'm seeing it looks like it needs some more complexity in its gameplay though.
Oops, after I said "I'm not a big fan of shmups" I was intending to follow up with "BUT: shmups are linear, this doesn't look linear. That makes it cool.".
My honest opinion is that you should NEVER interupt gameplay for anything like that, that should be done at either game start up or game exit.... as for the gameplay it looks alright, but honestly for me the thing that makes this game so special is the item collecting which i think will be its major draw.... those were my honest opinions of the game from just seeing these movies.....
@sodafountan Thanks for the feedback. Although I agree interrupting gameplay is annoying, I don't think that means it shouldn't be done in this situation. The feedback screen is for playtesters, who I would rather have their opinions skew more negative than positive. As well, this screen pops up at the 8 minute marker, which is where an XBLIG trial would expire anyway, which in normal play would annoy potential customers.
@Stegersaur Just as long as that screen doesn't remain in the final product, it's fine. It would be like buying a DVD and at eight minutes through the director intrupts the movie to ask for the viewers feedback... i certainly wouldnt want that to happen.
