it's not just power that produces that pin-action. granted, power helps because speed allows the ball to clear more pins to prevent the messenger from hitting other pins, but power alone doesn't' do it, you need a clean release too. norm duke doesn't have a lot of power, but he does have a squeaky clean release, and that's what produces that pin-action.
@TXP9 Modern equipment lets shot makers like Duke really compete with the strike a bunch boys. You can generate an equal amount of power with a weaker release by getting the ball to hit the pocket in the correct phase of motion known as "hook-out." This is when axis tilt and rotation are equal, but greater than 0.
the outside line does that because it comes in later sending the head pin more left than usually to the SIDE WALL! and the kickers in this house are probably the reason for the carry
Yes, it's a fact. Saying it's not and using an entirely different reference might fool those people who started bowling only after urethane balls came out, but others of us aren't so easy to fool. Dick Weber rolled the ball as did Harry Smith, Carmen Salvino, Al Savas and most others of that day. And they ALL could knock the 5 into the 7. Dick held no patent on pin carry and had no unusual technique to do so. Enjoy the Asian anchor-women and resist fabricating history.
You have to have a lot of power to make the head pin go to the side walk. Through the walls and everything. I wonder if they fixed the pin shaped hole in the wall. lolololol
@storm32176 you dont need a fast throw, you need a ball and a hand which can deliver the ball so the ball gets the spin power , its not how hard you throw, its how hard you hit
its so amazing the amount of power norm duke gets even being a stroker. this proves that anyone can have power as long as you're smooth and nice to the ball
@20alphabet Mmmm... I wouldn't say that as a fact. Dick Weber practically mastered the wall shot, although most of his wall shots got rid of the 7 and 5 pins. The one thing that differs from house to house is the pit and the sidewalls. USBC rules cover this, but it isn't applied uniformly across the country/world. For ex, the 7-10 conversion made by Mark Roth would only be possible if the pit was shallow. Fresh new pins do have more action than old pins, but only the nat'l tour uses new pins.
Norm Duke, TOTAL CLASS

Who do you think you are?....I AM!!!

The head pin didn't do that cuz of bouncing off the wall. It did it cuz Chuck Norris told the the messenger to hit the ten pin

Did anyone notice that all the "Side Walk" hits were thrown on the same outside line?

Pins wouldn't do that for you in the 70's. Gymnastic pins were developed for the bowling proprietor to increase profit.
