They don't need to select people at the entry, it's hard enough to stay. I can tell, I m studying philosophy at La Sorbonne, and during the first year, we were 250... the second year we were 80 ! It has not really change since but still ... the selection is hard.
I'm going there starting these year for -I hope - three amazing years.
If you are a foreigner and is attending to go to la Sorbonne just send me a mess, I'm fluent in French. And I'd be please to meet new people and help!
I know this is late! but im studying in paris at the sorbonne this january for study abroad. If there is anything i should know or tips you could give me i would appreciate it! Thanks!
its not bad, i took it for like 7 years. I read and write much better than i speak though. My speaking is pretty iffy, because i tend to be too impatient to not talk fast, when im really not good enough to talk fast, ha!
Oooh! I almost went to the Sorbonne, but ended up going to the University of Heidelberg instead... My Grandma was upset that I pulled my application to the Sorbonne (think she wanted me to grow up as a Parisian elitist or something lol). x x

@violetcloud
Universities in France are not selective, it's not hard to go study to la Sorbonne, you just have to get the french bac to get in.
whatsinthatbox 1 year ago
@whatsinthatbox It's only true for people living in the Parisian area. All the other students are selected.
