  • nothing wrong with against the grain with practice

  • I would shave... But my beard is so shit that it comes when it grows back through out the day :(

  • wht happen if i took the razor the opposite way nd shave

  • Thank u my dad never taught me.

  • How do you shave under your lip? up ,or down.

  • @MrZocor aint u the guy that does not use razor??? o.O

  • Oi YOU WHERES YOUR BEARD MATE ?????

  • yeah "short like strokes" didnt know that meant hack patches out of your face as fast as u can. DICK!

  • This dude reminds me of Sid in Ice Age.

  • The key is using quality shave creams that have glycerin that will not dry out your skin and avoiding the expensive multi-blade razors. He is correct to not use pressure...although in some areas you may have to stretch the skin to acheive the close shave you want.

  • @clev9980 what shaving cream or shaving gel do you recommend for a great shave?

  • Lol today i shaved for first time i used gillete mach 3 and some cheap shaving cream i had no idea how to shave now my face hurts xD at least i didn't cut myself xD

  • idiot. you can go against the grain after you went with the grain. If you have a good razor angle, and good shaving cream on your face, your good to go ;)

  • you can stand there and lightly stroke your hair, i got shit to do ,

  • @duscamry wake up earlier works for me or shave in the shower this way u have plenty of time

  • You idiot, i'm not even a male and i know this better than you do.

first , pretty much both gender shaves (hopefully) and we all know except for you that you shouldn't wipe your razor on a towel to clean it off (from another video)

secondly, you wanna go in the direction against the hair growth not WITH it. that will pretty much do nothing.

  • @xoxokellsoxox lol no, you go with the growth so you dont get razor burn. All of the guys know this

  • Expert villiage my ass.

Get yourself a straight or double edge safety razor. A single blade razor will always be better than the stupid cartridge comsumer based razors of today.

    Reason behind this is

    1. the cartridge itself pulls the cream away from the skin before the 1st blade even makes a pass. the 1st blade pulls the hair rather than cuts, the next blades cut the hair way below the skin line, when hair recedes back beneath the skin line and starts to grow again....Ingrowns + acne....

  • @qwertyui90qwertyui90 ur definately right safety razors r amazing i hav 1 myself but ijust dont hav the time 2 use it on a daily basis i use it when i need to look good for something

  • thanks. thats how Im gonna do it the next time. every time I shave with a razor I used to cut myself because I pressed too hard and I used long strokes..

  • My solution is shave like your grandfather did. Stop using oils, creams and balms and all this shit, a $1 aloe Vera shave gel will do just fine. No need for 5 blades Gillette razors a good double edge razor like merkur will last forever and a $10 pack of blades will last you until 2015 and will do just fine (If not better). No need for balms, oils or fucking moisturizers a $5 witch Hazel from any pharmacy will do much better and will last you forever, trust me I know!

  • Well, you gotta be quiet an idiot to cut yourself with a system razor like the Gillette ones.

  • "the key is to go slow..." as he shaves at 50 strokes per second

  • can someone shave without the shaving cream????

  • i just cuted the skin under my nose, it's still fucking bleeding..

  • @StarMonitor in english "cuted" doesn't exist you have to say "cut"

  • @StarMonitor Is it still bleeding?

  • @XxSeVzxX He died back in August actually.

  • this is no match for mantic's tutorials

  • 9 people faild?

  • I can't get a close shave without going against the grain. I believe my facial hair is different than most guys, because going with the grain NEVER gets me a close shave. I hate going against the grain, but it's what I got to do.

  • i see alot of these videos... anyone got one on how to grow a beard? im 17 and havin a little bit of trouble getting rid of the peach fuzz and growin a mountain man beard

  • The less you shave the better it is for your skin you facial hair health and growth. The more you shave the more times you have to shave. If you are young and have peach fuzz don't rush into shaving. the first time you should shave is when the length is about the same as your fingernail after a month of not clipping them.

  • @2109917162 dude i have NO idea what my nails look like after a month. i cut em after every 3 days.

  • @shirubiu Neither do I. I bite them. I just calculate approximately. If you want another analogy you should shave for the first time when the hair on your upper lip curls down over the red part.

  • @2109917162

dude shaving earlier does not let the hair grow more or faster. it just gets a little bit thicker with every shave because your cutting the thin end of the hair.

  • @fluffyman15 tell that to my cousin who went and shaved at age 7. He had a full beard by 10. He did not have any hormone problems or nothing. I know for a fact that the longer you wait to shave the longer it takes to grow. Some for me: I only shave once every 6 weeks and I'm 19. I feel like I need a shave after a month but By waiting i am slowing the processes down.

  • @2109917162

mhm I am also getting 19 next month and my beard hairs are still pretty soft (for a beard) and I dont have much. They are also growing slow like yours, for 1cm length I maybe need 1 month (or a little bit more). Then I have 1-2 friends who had already with 15-16 full beards and a cousin who got his beard at about 21-22...I think its in the genes.

But I would be very happy if its that way like you said, I want more beard lol...

  • @fluffyman15 it most certainly has to do with genes but its also shaving. You see 90% of or body heat i lost from our head that's why we grow so much hair or our heads and faces. When we shave our skin feels exposed and boosts your hormones. That's why shaving should wait.

  • no no, you look better with the beard, put it back on

what do you mean u can put it back on?

  • wax tablets

  • My face gets irritated when I shave against the grain. Is this a huge problem? Because I also have ingrown hairs that have messed up my pretty face. Should I continue with against the grain or with the grain? Help...

  • @Lonewolf777able when you shave against the grain you are A LOT more likely to get ingrown hairs, this is because the blade has to go over a more course area, going against the hair, if you shave with the grain, you are A LOT less likely to get razor bumps and ingrown hairs because there is not that extra friction, and hair, for the razor to cut through.

  • wow, that cream looked ddry!

  • expertvillage and their awesome 1 minute videos..

  • Fucking Pussy Use a Straight Razor!

  • @19931512

When shaving your nuts, use dove bar soap with moisterizer, and bic triple bladed razors for sensitive skin "just in case." that goes out to all guys here, not just you.

  • @TeslaDRay nah u got a use a surgical razor cuts threw anything

  • i really hate expert village

  • @McFunnyCunt why do you watch videos by expert village if you really hate them?

  • stupid words

  • ah, expert village is garbage...they dont know wat theyre talking about

  • when I shave down, there's still hair on my mustache! And also, after I shave it's really dark where my mustache is. Anyone know how to lessen the darkness?

  • @TheStok45 bleach ur hair

  • @TheStok45 shave sideways after u shave down

  • what i find works is going with the grain, then when ur hair's really short go against the grain

  • why is it important to shave in the direction ure hair grows?

the gellete video said you can do it in the opposite direction if u need to for a closer shave.

  • @xKINGkhanSRKx some people get a lot of irritation and pain when they shave against the direction of growth.

  • Sounds good (: Going to try

  • @bxjam85

yeah you guys have the rough hair, i know. but then again, you guys can get away with going just with the grain as if you're dark then they won't see a bluebird as much. with me, it's either you have a decent beard, or nothing at all, lol. there are rare times that i like to look like Sonny Crocket from Miami Vice though, lol.

  • Its hard just to shave one way dude ...

  • shave is a pain in the ass.. really.. but nice advice

  • Shaving cream is crap. Shape soap is the best. Better lather.

  • @TeslaDRay

Agree. Get a quality shave soap and badger brush, and you'll be in shaving heaven.

  • @mazower

i dont know, badger brush doesn't seem to lather right. i just uyse the soap in m yhands. the soap smells like those little tablets you'd find in hte urinals in kindegarden bathrooms, lol.

  • @TeslaDRay look for mantic59 videos. also, a good, non-cheapass shaving cream will send you to a heaven of great smells.

  • @Stahlross

seen mantic. was first shaving expert i came across. everything he says is right.

  • One of the most reputable companies for razors - and in their video they tell you to do exactly the opposite of what you say. hah.

  • If you have thick strong hair then most likely you'll get cut, I did beard waxing then it grew back much lighter and it was easier.

  • @Cavin21 but is there any way i can make my facial from lighter to thick hair? n im 21 . jus wonderin

  • @xFreestyleKingx

Simple, just keep shaving and it keeps growing back thicker. Unless you're the kind of guy who has little to almost no facial hair, if that's the case then I don't know.

  • @Cavin21 i have a peach fuzz mustache . lol! and how long does it take for it to grow thicker when u shave

  • @xFreestyleKingx

Lol. I don't know bud, I'm not an expert, but mine took about two years because when I was younger I shaved and it wasn't that thick, then after like 2 years later it started growing faster and stronger. It also depends "how much you shave" if you shave every single day then it might be way less time...

  • @Cavin21

no i don't think it has much to do with shaving to make it thicker. shaving does not alter your beard's biologically-determined growth rate.

  • @TeslaDRay

not for everyone, but it's a slightly high reputation

  • @xFreestyleKingx

you're lucky you have thin facial hair. enjoy it while you can (that is unless you WANT some sort of beard).

  • @TeslaDRay yea, half of my beard is filling out, but my mustache is still thin. . maybe cause im still young haha

  • @xFreestyleKingx, no, the thickness of your hair is genetically determined.

  • @Cavin21 alrite cool man. i ll try that. haha

  • here is a quickand easy way to shave with no electricity, no razors, no chemicals or creams.... with nothing. the way the green beret's used to shave.

    /watch?v=2Ww31ePdyTY

  • use a triple razor ,.and just do it faster and close to skin , if you shave faster is better imagine a blade going against the hair, speed plus a good razor = better shave if you do it slow as this man is not gonna work and you'll waste your razor libricator.

  • shaving cream is horrible. shave soap os the best.

  • he finds there is hair left at the end, so he goes for another pass going WITH the grain again? what the fuck will that do? go against pansy. ;-)

  • I shave the worst way possible. Dry and cold. Can hurt a little around the chin when I let it grow out a bit. I haven't cut myself shaving in ages, been using the same blade for quite awhile, and I save money on water and shaving cream. If I were to ever want to shave right I'd use a straight razor and do the whole shabang that takes a good long while.

  • anyone see that straightrazor shave video by joyce from expert village? yeah.......

  • @TeslaDRay i have Done it with a knive once .. Dry.. barely cut myself

  • @32sane

yeah you can get away with it if you do it right, mr. crocodile dundee. ;-)

  • @TeslaDRay Nah i don't use a bowie I used a Swiss army Multi-tool I Sharpened. Wish i used a Bowie then i Could feel awesome.

  • Honestly gentlmen this guy sucks too....I shave during shower...without any cream shit and i feel great, best thing is long strokes and hot water, melt your face down and you own the whiskers

  • maybe thats the difference........your just getting a few whiskers where as us MEN are shaving a light beard.

  • you kidding me? i am hairy like an ape, so shut your arse...MAN, suck my dick n00b

  • ha. no need to get angry. your anger is only hinting to me that you got butt hurt because my statement is true.

  • maybe cuz i raped your ass, you might've seen me then..hehe...pathetic idiot playing educated smart ass

  • @Kommandant10 your calling me pathetic??? your the hairless woman that is talking about raping people. just because i am right about you makes me an educated smart ass? you are the one that is pathetic trying to protect your manhood over the internet with your tough i rape people posts.

  • komm

i used shave sopa (bar) but rather then brush it on i just lather it on by hand, while showering. good stuff, though it leaves the skin too squeaky (so to speak) so after i just relather with dove bar soap.

  • hey wat razor wud u recommned 4 a teenager dats 18 years old?

  • 18 u adult lol

and gillete fusion dude im a barber in chicago

  • here a GOOD tip,bin that razor you have and get a merkur ;)

  • Is good that you cut apples.

  • I have a really pointy adams apple so I always cut it when getting the few hairs from it :(

  • ive been shaving for 6 years now and i only cut myself once :P

  • lol

  • oh trust me dude i know how to shave

  • i liike electric razors better b/c they dont cut you at all

  • thats cause you dont know how to shave

  • electric razors dont get all the hair though

  • hey you don't get acne after you shave do you? like for teenagers...

  • I use the Fusion Turbo razors, then put some aftershave o rubbing alcohol on afterwards followed by an after shave gel lotion.

  • i use shick quatro neutregen shaving cream is stoppes bumps and razor burn of ill use oxy kinda fights acne and all the problems ull have with irration after shave nivea or oxy shave post balm

  • Just go ahead and shave just like the guy showed you in the video and all your fears will go away

  • this helped.. thx man

  • okay, i'm 16 and have crap loads of hair along the jawline, so i want to start shaving, but i have extreme social phobias which basically prevent me from doing anything that could lead to something even mildly embarrassing, so i can't ask my dad anything about shaving... i'm basically waiting for him to bring it up, which he hasn't yet. how do i get the supplies i need without asking anyone or leaving the house?

  • Heres what you do, forget about your social phobia, seriously, I was shy when I was your age and would worry about what people thought of me all the time. Its all pointless, I grew out of it, you have to work at it, wont happen overnite. Its like this, do you really care when people do something embarassing? Well, they dont care about you either, in that regard.

Ask your dad about shaving, theres really not much to it. If that fails, just go to a store and buy some disposeable razors.

  • but im afraid to leave my house, and a social phobia isn't something you can just grow out of... you clearly don't know what it's like to be afraid to leave your house, frankly i would rather be killed in a slow, brutal manner. i have attempted suicide many times, and it's impossible to understand how someone like me feels. when you're depressed, you simply CAN'T grow out of it until you get help, but thanks to my phobias it simply won't happen, so yeah, im afraid to leave my house...

  • dude, get like, an online therapist, or something. Or Oprah!

  • im british... also i had a therapist for a while but it was too stressful talking to people about my problems...

  • Next time your family goes food shopping or something like that go with them and just put the stuff into the cart. They'll either say nothing or talk to you, either way your not bringing it up. That's what i did. Or just use your dads stuff, not used razors though

  • like i said, im afraid to leave my house... i haven't left my house in about ten years, so to be honest i have no real reason to shave... ah well... also ive tried to use his stuff but everytime i go in the bathroom there is no shaving cream...

  • Hair conditioner works as well. I only use that when I'm in a tight spot though.

  • watch some anthony robbins videos man. u cant live in this way

  • who the hell is anthony robbins?

  • find out

  • tony robbins hungry

  • Aw! Fuck him! I'm going to shave both ways!

  • @CosmicPowerz LMAO!! awesome ...its hard just shaving one way

  • he doesnt look like he even hit puberty

  • Would a real barber please tell us how to shave properly without have blood dropletts as you are rushing out to work. I have shaved with the grain and against the grain for over forty years and it has worked reasonably well. The real barbers the senior ones really know.

  • Use a shaving brush to apply traditional lather shaving cream or soap instead of the pressurized canned gels that are out now. This will help your face tremendously.

  • Wouldn't that cause razor burn?

  • Yes. Very.

  • For starters, try using a single blade razor.

  • Mantic wannabe

  • Quit being pansies. Shave against the grain so your face doesn't feel like a box grater when you step out of the shower. What's the point in shaving if you're doing it like that?

  • @slapstickity76

    yeah really

  • @slapstickity76 not to be racist only white people can do that. its a disaster for blacks

  • @helpcentervideos

yeah i've heard that in mantic59's videos, about blacks having tough time going against the grain I mean..

  • @slapstickity76 i guess it depends on the occasion. for the casual everyday shave (not really everyday) i only shave with the grain. if there is a special occasion i'm shaving for, i'll do it against the grain as well.

  • Ah, I see. I always try to shave with the grain and nothing comes off, but I always pressed hard and with long strokes.

I'll do short strokes next time and see how that works. Just out of curiosity, what kind of razor are you using in this video? Looks like a two-bladed one.

  • Well, I just tried out this technique, but it made no difference. :-(

  • Comment removed

  • Ah, alright. I think have a few of those lying around somewhere. And yeah, I've also checked out mantic's videos. They were helpful, too.

I use a safety razor now, though.

  • took me a lot of practice to get it right. one of my errors was not softening my face enough with warm water (now i just shower before shave, no drying face after). finally i realized my biggest problem was the angle of the (safety) razor. was used to disposables, so held it about the same. bad habit. needed to be about 45^ i discovered.. now no need to press at all... from there was working great, then just a matter of fine tuning the technique.

  • yea thats what i do now too

  • bruno?

  • very poor shaving cream!

  • tnx

  • Thanks! these electric shavers don't cut properly!

  • Thanks now i can do it the correct way.....
