  • LOL my dads on this ship!

  • wanted to say more, but restrained due to character limits, its a pretty fierce weapon, and after the refit only more so, this frigate is actually the size and has the fire power of a destroyer, but sounds nicer to say frigate than destroyer to tax payers, our destroyers are meant for air superiority - all of their missiles are for incoming plane or missile attacks with an incredible radar - fun fact - look closely at the Transformers movie, you will see a canadian frigate in the US fleet!

  • I actually worked on this ship during the PR campaign (i am not assigned to this ship since I am in the reserves, but still in the Navy)...so..the silos in 2 rows of 4 on either side facing straight up are the evolved sea sparrows, the stacks that are facing over the ship (3:30 - as a counter balance when they are launched) are the Harpoons, the torpedo tubes are located at the side of the hanger bays pointing at an angle toward the sea, the CIWS is at 3:48, ovb the bofors is at the front

  • Thanks for that information! I thought those tubes could be for missiles rather than torpedoes. Good to know the navy can be loaded when needing to be.

  • Missles: Harpoon anti ship missle soon to be upgraded to anti ship as well as land attack. The ESSM 16 ready to go and another 12 carried to be reloaded if needed. ESSM can also be used as anti surface role as well. Range 50 KM

  • I can only guess on that. I would assume by next summer (if city council has approved such).

  • when is the new cruise boat coming from Ottawa, to replace the MV Autora Borealis?
