A hit's a hit. Either way it's a horrible way to end a player's career, I mean look at Ben Fanelli. He almost lost everything from the hit he received last year. If you end someone's career with a hit then you should receive some form of a punishment. Ryan could have easily been out like Ben with his concussion.

As a ref I could easily call charging OR elbowing. Either way he TARGETED his head. He deserved that lengthy suspension. Get this crap out of the game.

He doesn't jump at him at all and he's anticipating Murphy to maintain possession of the puck. His elbow does connect with his head, primarily due to the fact that there's what a 6-inch difference in the two players? It's not as if it's leading out. 20 games is quite excessive.

but truth be told if you look when he got hit - this kid is smart was looking at that truck coming when he hit him. he'll be fine he looks tough, and tough play to make. ill bet he looks around the net and ducks or moves out of the way like he should next time
The angles are poorly placed to judge this hit, but the body language looks as though he was gunning for the head. He could have easily completed this check with the side of his body and not his forearms..I get that it's hockey, but lets keep it player off the puck and not head off the player

The hit isn't even dirty, he doesn't miss that puck than its fine, its a simple 2 min interference....he's so low tot he ground , what do you expect the hitter to drop onto his knees to hit the guy.....rule #1 in hockey school................keep your head up behind the net! 2 minute penalty thats it!
the only reason he left his feet is because he went through the guy. kuhnhackl good have kept his arms down a little bit, but murphy needs to keep his head up. also look how low murphy was. if he led with his shoulder it would have been much worse.
Yeah well,least Niagara is a far more exciteing team to watch.
