@joezline98473095 Lol kajukenbo and kenpo are cousins in a sense,as Kaju's founder Emperado and Kenpo's founder,Ed Parker Sr.,both trained together at the same time with the same teacher...Professor K.S. Chow.Secondly? Each move from the very first forearm smash+elbow strike block to the wristlock is a fight ender.Lolol you can't get any faster than ending the fight the split second that it starts.
This is a very clear, step-by-step explanation of the defensive technique being described. I also liked being able to recognize certain motions that are embedded in the kata / forms of a number of styles embedded in the sequence of movements used here; I find it always adds substantial meaning to forms when applications are explained. Nice!
@Tigerpaws9097826 This is a very astute and keen observation you're making! Far too many people miss the practical applications for techniques that populate numerous kata/forms across the various "styles".Thank you so very much for the compliments and I hope to earn more from you as time passes! Osu.
I like the process. It makes sense, our friend is the ground. I tell my students all the time let the concrete to the work for you. Bounce somebodies head off the concrete and then stomp their face and they're spitting chicklets. Well done my friend.
@houseofthetruewayma Thank you my friend! Your knowledge acumen and skill in these area are quite well known,so it's an honor to know that you laud my techniques and efforts!
I don't like the takedown, only because he still has ahold of your head and neck, that could prove risky and turn into a street fight, I don't know about you, but I hate going to the ground if I can help it, the street is not the cage :) lol, anyway, I would want to get him off me completely before the takedown, but thats just me.
@KungFuKid1015 Perceptive of you, man! But truth is that I TRAPPED his hand so he COULDN'T let go.A trip takedown or osotogare will DEFINITELY make your opponent release a tie up on your neck if he has time to respond to the fall. It's instinctive in the human species to break our falls.I also am very comfy on the ground with my judo wrestling kenpo bjj tkd capoeira hapkido and other techniques,so my comfort with ground fighting may indeed be informing my actions here.
@1hit2drop Lolol well said brutha Danny, you did a great job filming.Didn't even let the police car disrupt your focus and the quality of the shot.Let's get in another video this Sunday mayne!
@loganbarren1 Thank you very much my brotha! I try to give a realistic feel to my vids whenever possible. This particular alley is near Dawson and 10th,in LBC CA.It's a known, grimey alley with gangs all over the place. The police interrupting our filming twice, lol.
@kenpoteacher I'm putting up 6 more videos tomorrow, and then I'm moving on to ATTACKING MACE.I hope that you enjoy these upcoming videos as much or more than the previous one, snad I hope to be honoredby your keen commentary in these new videos as well...
at 0:59, you are tapping his chest. Good idea to resist some of the compression that his left arm can create that pulls you in to that right elbow or punch, a very sneaky form of Collapsible Deflection, good stuff with the elbow along side his jaw.
@kenpoteacher As always,Clark,I deeply appreciate your keen eye and literate commentary.Very sharp eye and identification of COLLAPSIBLE DEFLECTION,as I intend to delve into many Kenpo concepts as my Youtube series progresses.I will go much more into depth and detail with lots of training drills and lots more scenario drills--including lots more firearms, multifights, escapes, all point tourney applications for kali, sport striking,MT,boxing, taekwondo MMA etc.--in 2011 DVDs.
I'd love to see some kicking techniques. I love the practical, "close in" stuff, but I'd love to see your take on attack and defense/countering with regard to kicking. I know nothing about your art...you may not use kicks that much, so forgive the ignorance.
@ricks1019 I kick QUITE A BIT,actually.Lololol.That's a fair and penetrating question you broached.Kenpo has quite a bit of kicking, despite its name translating as "Fist Law" and its fearsome and well-deserved multiple hand strike reputation.in other videos--my White Belt Introduction to Kicking videos and my subsequent Yellow Belt Videos (the very next technique is ATTACKING MACE where you'll se PLENTY kicks, knees, etc) on Youtube you'll see that I'm more than proficient at kicking and combo kix
@Thomahawk08 Su[adupa love, big Hawk! Lolol thank you very much for hollerin at ya boi DethStryque aka ATACX GYM.You have experience in martial arts, therefore your praise is that much more valuable! Thank u soo much!
@Thomahawk08 Okay for those of you who asked me what Clark meant by "collapsible deflection",this is a concept that is very prevalent in Kenpo and it's "a strategic bending of a defensive move in order to make it more functional as an additional defense." In this case, the 2 palm push+upward block-forearm smash-elbow strike combo IS the "COLLAPSIBLE DEFENSE" I used that intercepts the line of attack of my friend who was trying to punch me.K?
@kraziquando I read this comment and it made me smile! Thank you very much my brutha kraziquando! I really appreciate great compliments like that! Energizes me more! I have 5-6 more vids on this technique to do and I hope to have them all done by Sunday.Look forward to any and all constructive feedback, constructive disagreements and/or criticisms or otherwise!

@AshraFeissaa Boxing him in his left elbow hurts, kneeing the ribs, foot stomps, sweeps, etc. hurts. The Clinch is like what MMA and wrestling heads call "THE SCRAMBLE",wherein you attack/move/counterattack/move all at the same time, based upon very few combat movement principles allowing nigh infinite techniques. My next 5 vids shows ALTERNATING MACES (A.M.) v Muay Thai clinch strikes,Wrestling&subgrappling in the clinch, weapons, and mittwork teaching how to to teach the A.M.
Complete martial arts novice chiming in here, but I do know instructors. A FINE job you do. It must be difficult on camera, not being able to see your students. This kempo you teach...it looks quite effective, and has a nice flow to it. Is it difficult to learn?
@ricks1019 thank you so VERY MUCH,ricks,as input from novices to experts is extremely valuable. The KENPO I teach is REMARKABLY SIMPLE TO LEARN.I'm going to post up the mittwork drills that I use to teach Alternating Maces and you can gain a solid handle on how to actually TRAIN TO USE THIS TECHNIQUE TO FIGHT whether armed or not,on the ground in the clinch or not,'scrambling" ,vs multiple foes, etc. The DIFFICULT PART is having THE MINDSET TO TRAIN REALISTICALLY AND DEVELOPING REAL WORLD DRILLS.
@ricks1019 Detailed technical explanations are complicated by Youtube's time limits and the MISunderstanding regarding MMA and TMA (Traditional Martial Arts). A) MMA is merely SPORT TMA B) TMA has many more techniques and is comprehensively more versatile than MMA and C) The main difference between TMA and MMA is QUALITY TRAINING.MMA>TMA visavis QUALITY TRAINING because TMA has been Mcdojofied D)MMA is Mcdojofying itself at an alarming rate. E) If we train TMA realistically? TMA>MMA always.
very important key pts to me.. were the opening from back knuckle to the groin.. which helped.. madke him move.. could also minor leg sweep.. or back groin kick.. sure shot with the crank uke may also fall bent armed.. b4 kimura not only armbar but spine and neck hit.. or while he goes in clinch and you did the high block elbow.. very good opening for breaking knees to fall for another lock hmm interesting ..normally I see DL even IALD.. RDL is very tactful very nice..R first here
@walking1way Very perceptive as usual,my young sensei! the original video was nearly 10 minutes long, including my partner James throwing knees, elbows, punches, takedowns and whatnot from the clinch in a single flow and I use ALTERNATING MACES to thwart it.But it was too big for Youtube to upload. So I cut it down to CLINCH 1 (this video) and CLINCH 2 (which deals with the knees elbows takedowns exclusively and will be up no later than next week) along with the REAL TEACHING KEY: THE MITTWORK
