The real way Koenig died was not as dramatic. He was hidden in a crater covered in corrugated iron sheets, Vassilli saw the sun glint of Koenigs scope and fired. koenig was killed by a shot in the throat as the bullet had riccocett off the scope. the Damaged scope can be seen in the museum of Volgograd

there was a duel and it lasted for 3 days, and he only found after he looted german snipers body that the dead guy was the TOP INSTRUCTOR of Berlin sniper school. He was no easy kill, he killed 2 of Vasillys snipers...

Koenig did exist, these duels were shown in Soviet propoganda papers and Koenigs damaged scope can be seen in the Volgograd museum
