What a crap organization, what were they thinking?? Patrese was waving his arms during the whole time and they still started the race... Still, I believe the ill-fated mechanic thought the race wasn't going to start, otherwise he wouldn't good sense in stepping into the track (at least that's what I want to believe)...
I never liked Zolder, even though I'm Belgian. The track still looks greasy and worn, with a lot of grit and dust trown up by cars cutting the chicanes. Concrete barriers close to the track on the blind spots.. And most of the the marshals are poorly trained volenteers. Zolder has it's own flagsymbols dat deviate from international rules, wich is bollocks if you ask me. People still die on that track to this day, all of them motorcyclists :(
And again it was Pironi ahead of Villeneuve... I used to think that Gilles was a very good driver, but what I´ve seen from the seasonal reviews, he is totally not impressive. And this race was no difference. Maybe his cruel death has made him a ´´legend´´?
@s1003232@s1003232 Villeneuve finished fourth from seventh on the grid, Pironi finished eighth from third. He won two races in 1981 in a scrap heap of a car.
@s1003232 I was rather shocked by your comment suggesting tht we only remember Gilles because he tradgicly lost his life at the same track the foloowing year. That was a heartless and offensive comment so go suck you dick. He was a true master and will be reveared for ever. R.I.P Gilles.
He has shown fantastic stuff, but he did not make a better impression to me than Pironi. Everybody seems to prefer Villeneuve to Pironi, but I don´t think that´s right.

Poor Siegfried - typical Ecclestone to get his car to go off first to force the organizers hand

What an absolute train wreck of an event. I think the FIA learned much from this event.

It's unbelievable to start the race with a car stalled on the grid. Amazingly, the mechanic did not die, just broke his legs.
