On this date in 1968 {Feb. 17th} "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it would peak at #2 {for 1 week} and spent 22 weeks in the Top 100...
Ranked 8th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1979 chart
Another song from a movie, "Mrs. Robinson" from "The Graduate", prevented it from becoming #1...
This hit by Hugh Montenegro was the 105th #1 song on what is now Billboard's Adult Contemporary charts. It also hit #2 on the Top 40 charts and #1 in the United Kingdom.
the lone cowboy... who travels with his dry up ol' coffin... equipped with a mini chain gun. the men from the west say stories that he is a dead legend... but the good cowboy never left the adventure! for to this finest last showdown... comes between the good ... the bad.. and the -- the ugly!?!?!?
the lone cowboy... who travels with his dry up ol' coffin... equipped with a mini chain gun. the men from the west he is a dead legend... but the good cowboy never left the adventure! for to this finest last showdown... comes between the good ... the bad.. and the -- the ugly!?!?!?
This is one of the greatest movie themes but analyzing the lyrics has been crazy, Wiki says HM grunted but clearly there are lyrics. My searches have been fruitless. My quest will not end.
@Maryloohoo2 surely you have better things to do with your time? lol, if there are any lyrics (which I doubt) I wouldn't have thought they were really worth wasting your time on.
@Maryloohoo2 this might be obvious; I am suggesting that you allow a person who speaks old world or 1960's Italian slang aid you. Most of Clint Eastwood's western 60's and 70's movies were filmed in Italy
@nutbagbrew102 yeah - You are right, brother, no cup holders but a big ashtray. Had to navigate between the beer , the cigarette and and the steering wheel. If you took the right turn too fast your baby was sitting in your lap. Now kids are texting and driving worse in their rice burners as we did shit faced
i have the original i love for its beauty but i got to admit this sounds so good and captures the mood of a bad ass for me...the horn is fantastic...the vocals good , what is not to like, thanks for posting...
@BeachBum2OO7 Have to disagree though Ennio Morricone is the composer. Tight arrangement and superb performance of all musicians propelled this song to top the charts making Hugo Montenegro one of the very few pop orchestras to top the charts, besides master Paul Mauriat. The guitar and flawless percussion were simply outstanding, great job--never a dull moment! Still remembered when the song topped the charts, the LPs were sold out.
@MBZMDFAN have to counter disagree LOL. I'll go out on a limb and assume your American, thus this version was plastered all over the airwaves. The original composition conducted by Morricone, has way better tempo and feeling. Hard to argue, but this is will only always be a bastardized version :-)
Not enough westerns these days. Damn, its a shame to watch the kids of today growing up on special effects and mindless video games. Their parents are even worse. Long live Clint Eastwood!
@LesbianVampireLover i have to agree and disagree there yeah some of the movies these days are mindless and dont compare to clintys classics.
mindless computer games? not entirely true there either yes some are repetative rubbish but if your a fan of clint look up or even better get a go on red dead redemption i 100% garantee you will like that one its like playing in a western truly epic
@LesbianVampireLover and as for blaming the parents well thats just plain ignorant they are not the ones who dont make the movies like they used to. and they are also not to blame for some of the games that are out there you should be blaming the corporate money whores who put the shit they sell all over the place to convince kids that there shit is actually good. and dont get me started on the music nowadays
@LesbianVampireLover the only way the parents can be to blame is for letting their kids see the shit these companys are peddling but how can you protect them from that? you cant lock them up forever that would fuck them up worse.
and how i see it i was also part of this mindless computer generation and i have grown just fine im a level headed open minded person who is willing to grow and i am teaching my son the same
seems to me that you may need to think about yourself a little
@LesbianVampireLover and anyone calling themselvs lesbianvampirelover needs to think about the glass house before throwing too many stones. but hey maybe its your parents fault??
see its just an excuse people use its not your parents fault your fucked up. or is it?
@Byung7 If you listen to the original by Morricone, this is what they're saying: Go, go Migo Go go Migo Go Migo go, go, go Aaaa Go, go, go, go go Aaaa Go migo Aaaa Go Migo What does Migo mean? To go astray.
Classic line: Tuco can't read the paper left behind and gives it to the Man with No Name..Eastwood reads the first word "Idiot", then hands the paper back to Tuco with the comment "it's for you".....bwaahhahaha..wa..wa.....
God why is there so many wiggers from the suburbs ruining good music and turning it to some nigger loving rap shit!!! stupid wigger skateboarders too, i blame the schools educational system, our generation of kids are retards, i hate to say it, but its so so true
Long live westerns, even though they portrayed Mexicans inaccurately. I should know, I come from such a people. Mexican westerns were also popular during the era of wesern movies. Both sides of the border had their own style.
@bossboy1968 You're not old. The no. 1 hit when I was born was "Poor little fool" by Ricky Nelson. Do the math! Actually I do remember this song around 1968; got a lot of airplay.
