MizBoheMia, I remember one time, i was singing to Angham song some day and i was like eating this bread (exactly the same u described), bited a piece, and the entire house heard "sidi wisalak zad alaya.. (CRUNCH) aaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!! mother fuckeeeeer ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .... found myself in the dentist chair the same day... they're such a hard bread.. never going to eat them again...

I bake barbari at home. What you need is a yeast cube, flour and water and do not forget cooking oil. a spoon of oil will do. I usually rub some yogurt mixed with water on the dough before putting it in the oven. Keep the made bread freezed.

You sound like you know what you are doing! This was actually some crazy dry bread my in-laws brought over from Iran. No one told me you are supposed to soak it in something and I didn't know it was that hard since I grew up in Spain. Hubby gave me a piece, I chomped down on it and it broke my crown! It's been a nightmare with my teeth since but it was mainly about that! :-) You are inspiring to want to bake some barbari though!

Not at all. Why would I? I am part Danish and part Iranian after all. I have a problem with rock hard bread my in-laws brought from Iran... and it wasn't a tootache I was referring to. The damn bread cracked my tooth and I had to extract it and was toothless there for a long while and just got a bridge done. Because of those bread bits I have had so many problems with the damage it caused for 2 yers and 7 months! Oy. SO not fun!

Sorry about your tooth, but I still love Iranian bread lol. You know, your in-laws brought you some dried iranian breads coz of the long jurney from Iran to your place and they wont be eadable after two days. for that reason they had been dried first, I think, in that case we don't eat them dry, you needed to wet them a bit. Anyway, your video is cute :-)

Oh my in-laws are VERY strange creatures! They actually eat that weird bread that is as hard as stone! They brought two HUGE bags with them, larger than pillows. Very strange for me. And they never told me to wet it, they just gave me and told me to bite down and so... but if it is normal, edible Iranian bread, I am all for it! ;-P
