yep , i am no expert or doctor , but i can tell you that i feel drinking is the one culprit . hell , is not that why they call it rot gut. i litterally felt my ulcer come on by drinking, i braved the burning sensation of the alcohol for years . my guess is that alcohol eats away the lining of the stomach thereby allowing the bacteria to burrow .

they have to be fermented though, and acidic salty pickles can cause pain if you have an ulcer so eat a banana and some vegetables before hand, chew the pickles thoroughly and drink some water with it

@jenjen21ification: Keep in mind that taking nexium, prilosec, pepcid for more than 4 months is unsafe. Plus if you are on antibiotic therapy it must be taken with lactobacillus to prevent C. Diff and other GI problems.

My Biopsies turned out to be ok. I suggest you get checked if you are having severe heartburn all the time. I have GERD Reflux.  Had to stop all the following:

TEA

CHOCOLATE

SPICY FOODS

CITRUS FRUITS

TOMATOS

COFFEE

SOFT DRINKS and PIZZA! .....Yes, had to give up Pizza with the TOMATO sauce! :))

I just found out i have h. pylori. Ive had stomach issues for over 2 yrs. they missed finding the cause in my first endoscopy. I started the 2 antibiotics with prevacid i did that for 2 weeks I had 2 days in that period that I felt better. then I got worse. 2 wks later I am now starting the 2 antibiotics and prevacid again. It is supposed to work on 9 out of ten people. I hope helicobactor pylori is my only problem. people with this bacteria have a 400 percent more chance of cancer :(

So went 4 years later for another endoscopy they diagnosed me with GERD/Acid Reflux, then 2 years later had to go in again, this time it was worse! They took 3samples of 3 places in my stomach or Esophagus,not sure yet. It doesnt hurt per say, the proceeure causes discomfort in the throat, I have pancreatitis and therefore vomit alot, so my problem was gagging! Which I did thru the whole proceedure, gag and wretch(my stomach was empty apart from a little bile due to a small fasting period before, the bile was removed by suction) and you do get a strong numbing chemical and the offer of a sedative. So more uncomfortable than painful!

i just had the same procedure today, without any anesthesia. it took only about 3 to 5 min. it was generally painless except it felt like i was being gagged while the tube was inserted in my throat. i have the same h. pylori bacteria and am now on that triple therapy. my husband watched while the procedure was being done and he said it was exactly the same as this video.

it is bacteria and there are great differences between both.

the triple therapy for it is:

1- proton pump inhibitor

2- metronidazole

and 3- antibiotic "like macroloids"

you've named some of the huge signs. bloating and nausea. Others many include: headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, pain relief after eating or pain during the night on empty stomach. For me, they did a urine test to find it. The endoscopy came later after I had finished the 2 week treatment and was still experiencing symptoms. The h.pylori was gone, though. The treatment was called Helidac btw.
