This was a sweet video! BEAUTIFUL dog...reminds me a lot of my Ruby, but Ruby only has one blue eye. You did a great job with this. I really enjoyed it. :)
These dogs are so beautiful and smart...but they can be utter nut cases if not in the proper environment... I had one for 15-1/2 yrs....smartest fucking dog I've ever seen. Pooh was the pup of 2 horse herders... He came from 3 generations of working dogs but he was raised in a city environment...raised as a house dog. So he ended up with behavioral problems...Point being, don't get one of these as an indoor dog.
Thank you mixedupjo <3 Awful experience and yes, I too felt all the energy and happiness was gone from my house. I have had an Aussie by my side for the last 30 years and my family could not stand my depression and we got another Aussie. He does not replace my boys but has helped. It is without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever gone through in my life. I continue to grieve my babies but at least I have light in my life too. An Aussie in the house is like the air I breathe :)
Oh how I love this video. Aussies have got to be the best dogs in the world! I've had and been around many many dogs and breeds, but nothing compares to the personality they have coming out of every pore!
What a beautiful dog! I want a red merle soooo badly. I currently have a blue merle that's about 8 months... The only white she has on her is a little on her belly. No matter the color, they're beautiful and amazing; inside and out! :-)
@TWINX1985 You said it all. Aussies aren't pets. They're an addiction. They're soulmates more than your spouse. They're maybe better than children and grandchildren. (Lord don't strike me dead for that, please.) I'm on my second set of Aussie puppies. Dax could be Mylo's twin and I have a little red that looks just like the one in the wagon. When life gets you down, your Aussie will get you up. BTW, Aussies are better in sets. They hate to be alone.
@TheRazzberry11 I lost my precious Aussie soulmate a year ago after a long illness. She was 12. I hope you're doing okay. I didn't do well. She was such a part of me that she took the energy, enthusiasm, and life out of my house. Just speaking from experience, give yourself time to grieve, and when you get another Aussie, as you surely will, get one that looks entirely different. To remind you that this isn't Raz, it's a different individual. Good luck and God bless!
I lost my beautiful giant Aussie Maya to cancer at only nine, she was a red merle too!
It has been 1 year in Feb. and I still cry. I miss her so much.
They are the best dogs I hope to have another one one day.
Thank you for your video I rescued Maya from the pound at nine months old. I never got to see how cute she must have been when she was little before she was abused and abandoned. I miss my baby so much I do not have kids and she was my beauty.
@badenmark That's no joke... time flies with an Aussie by your side. Sadly, we had to put or guy to sleep at 14 1/2 years. What I'd give for another day with my first son - miss him dearly...
So cute! All-Star Mini Aussies in Southern California has trained Mini Aussie puppies available now! Come see their amazing tricks videos!! They do come, sit, shake, high five, wave, down, and roll over! We train all of our puppies before they go home!
Australian shepherds are not easy-care dogs that everyone should have. They require a lot of activity and lots of room, so they are not good for apartment dwellers or people with sedentary lifestyles. They are classified as working dogs - so they need "work" to do and can't just be left laying around in a cage or living room. Yes, they are cute, but come with a lot of responsibility. It would be cruel to obtain one and then ignore it because you were tired or too busy. Please think first!
BEAUTIFUL! My 2 aussie girls are the best dogs I've ever een owned by :) One of ours is a Lethal White Aussie - deaf and vision impaired but smartest dog I've ever know! :) Think about adopting one :)
Your Milo must be quite a stunning mature dog by now. My Coco, whom I simply adore, is now 3 and the love of my life... He is not, as yours, calm and eager to just lay around. This kid keeps me BUSY all the time, running, he is unfortunately, blind in one eye and therefore very frightened of anything that moves... A labor of love! but, would not change a thing... He is my boy
they are beautiful dogs! id love to have one someday soon. but...but have the time, or means for one =/ so i told myself ill wait til i can raise it well.
I was blessed to have a red merle Aussie Maya that I rescued from the pound. She passed away Feb 2 2010 and my heart is still broken. She was the smartest,(people smart),easy to train, beautiful, loyal, obedient, and loving dog. She was Mommy to our 2 small dogs) She can never be replaced. But I hope to own another Aussie again because they are so wonderful.
I have a aussie, hes almost 8mo. His first conf show was at 3mo and got 2nd place! he partiacally tore his ACL at 6mo and is on recovery for the next two more months~ Love this aussie!
i might be getting an australian sheperd soon and was wondering if they get along with cats.my family has a cat and the aussie is going to be mine.so do they get along with cats???=)
@surferqueen123 Well we went trying too cuz we knew some of them might be blind and deaf but they still hsvnt opened there eyes yet so we will just have to see
@surferqueen123 I did a typo on my comment we wernt tryna breed them we didnt think she would go in heat that fast but he did and one day we put them outsude and you know what happens we wernt trying too
@karina20161 What is wrong with you? You shouldn't be allowed to own dogs, people like you are the reason shelters are overcrowded and dogs are suffering. Do the world a favor and get your dogs spayed and neutered.
@surferqueen123 hey i was trying to be rude we didnt figure none of this out until after she was pregnant and theres a good chance that the babies wont be and if there was it would onyl be like 1 and we were planning to keep the one if it did and I dont let any dogs suffer i love dogs my i carry on my grandmothers animal shelter
@DAMENY333 I've had my Aussie, Ember, since June. I got her in WV from a woman that owns "champion" dogs. She sold Ember's litter at $500-$600 each. They were standard size, and at the moment she's smarter than half the people in my town xD
I have had My Red Merle Aussie puppy for 3 weeks now. We got him at just 6 and half weeks and he is ten weeks now and is potty trained, knows how to sit, lay down and crawl. He also listen really well when walking off leash. He is so damn smart and I am super glad we got an aussie puppy.
=(. Makes me kinda feel sick...I was scouting for vet school today, and I went to see one of the surgery's done by the students. It was a mangy Aussie with cataracts. I love those dogs with a passion, the real reason I came to comment is to thank you SO MUCH for taking care of your dog. He's a beautiful Aussie. Mine is a Blue Merle, female. Never been so close to a dog. Delete this if you want, just wanted to get it off my chest. Been eating at my heart all day.
I noticed this video is about 2 years old. Now would you mind telling me if these are generally hard dogs to train? Also, do they make good family pets? I have just realized its existence and am in love with them!
@Dav1dwuzhere Well, they are very fast learners and so the beginning steps of training are pretty easy. However, because Aussies are so intelligent, sometimes its like trying to train a stubborn teenager lol. Sometimes it gets frustrating, but if you can give them lots of exercise and lots of mental stimulation, they are amazing, loving dogs. I can never go back to another breed ; )
We have a red merle Aussie and he is our kid! He has a continually developing vocabulary to the point where we have to spell words in front of him...intelligence-0ff-the-charts; typical for this breed. Aussies love their human families making great family pets. Aussies have great energy and love to run, chase, and play hide-and-seek. Keep them active and they'll be happy and healthy!
Yes. Definitely keep this kind of dog busy. They require lots of exercise. They'll learn many, many tricks if you take the time to teach 'em. :-) Aussies are the best! Mine doesn't get regular walks and is destructive. She chews up regular dog toys in minutes. Exercise them a lot if you don't want them picking through garbage and chewing up your shoelaces!
are aussies very nervous dogs? Because border collies are and they are sheperd dogs to. do aussies just relax or run around your family the whole time
@floortje86 If herding qualifies as "nervous" then yes, Aussies are like Border Collies. No, Aussies do not "just relax" they are very intelligent and high energy dogs. They need A LOT of exercise everyday to avoid negative habits. They have a good chance at "running around your family" because 1 they are herding dogs. And two, they love attention.
soo i just bought an aussie. The lady who i bought it from didnt give me the facts I wanted to hear.. So I thought I'd ask one of you. somebody positive about this breed. I would like to know how they are as they grow -are they good house pets? from my understanding on some comments I've learned a little. and so far so good. so please write me if ya got the time everything i need to know about my pup if you got a myspace that perfect. email 4 myspace is shortygurl2032@aol.com find me!! :) thanx
Hey, I also have an Aussie, who will be turning 6. Aussies are my absolute favorite breed. It's true, they can be a handful, but while most are high energy and conform to breed characteristics, others do develop separate personalities. My dog was trained easily no matter what he was doing (even higher training) and has had no destructive tendencies, despite being left alone in the house.
He is also great around the kids in the house, no matter whether they tug on his coat or his ears and furthermore, a good guard dog. He is also perfectly content to curl up on the couch beside me and nap while watching TV. I can say that the only downside to having an Aussie is the need to brush out the coat. I cannot say that this is something all Aussies will adhere to, but do I hope this helps a little bit. So... Congratulations on your new family member! (:
Don't know why anybody would say Aussies are hard to train. We own 5 of them and they all learn very quickly for they are quite intelligent and eager to please. The one thing you have to watch is the fact that they require TONS of intense physical activity otherwise they can become quite destructive for they get bored and restless quickly. ... They LOVE their humans and will just about do anything to please you, including training.
@BStewart2nd Yes, the beginning stages of training and obedience were very easy, but anything more advanced than that gets a little difficult. It's because they are so incredibly smart that it's like training a stubborn teenager lol.
@surferqueen123 Same as Border Collies... All you have to do is wear them out by running them for 2-3 hours. *THEN* train them. Otherwise they have crazy ADD. ;)
@surferqueen123 hey im a teenager lmao but yea im stuborn at times and i kno wat u mean lmao!!! i want one of these dogs now but to bad we live in a cat only building :( and we have 3 birds 2 rats 2 hamsters and 2 guinea pigs lmao!!! like when i move out i may go adopt one from an spca or something!!!
@surferqueen123 I have four Border Collies. They are easy on the first steps but they are difficult on the advanced stuff precisely because they are working dogs. They need to respect the 'top dog' and have consistent training. They're smart, you can't bluff them.
@SarmVX Aussies can be born WITH, or WITHOUT a tail. The breed standard says tails are not desirable, due to their working nature, the tails can just get in the way. Aussies that are born with a tail, sometimes get them docked. But others may keep the tail.
@Chldrnfbdm4 : the breed standard says? f**k that! i hope this breed never degenerates into discussions of breed standards. thats ruined many a decent breed,
I have 2 aussies, and yes, they are INCREDIBLE dogs!! I'm hooked!! Thankfully we have 6 acres and horses for them to herd or they might be destructive. I love that they want nothing more than to please us!!!
I admit, I don't do as much activity with my Aussie as I should. I guess I was blessed with a patient lad. He;s more than happy either lounging around with me all day, or outside playing. He was easy to train, but he's so used to commands he knows which one I am going to pick!
No, I don't know why people would say that. If you train them young, then they learn quick!
@BStewart2nd I was hoping to adopt a red merle after I graduate, and I have been trying my best to read up and such so I'm not unprepared. As an owner of five already, do you have any advice you wished to share? haha besides what you've already shared?
@BStewart2nd I agree. We have 3 aussies. they were all very easy to train including their names house/potty training and tricks!! here are a few my dogs know: sit, down, roll over, jump, speak, shake, tada! (bow), bang! (play dead) and they are great at finding things. out oldest aussie can open doors!! he jumps up and turns the nob or grabs the bottom!! its funny cuz i will let the other dogs in and he will go to a different door so he can show off his skills! haha
You guys with dogs are so unbelievable lucky, you got someone to cuddle up with and play with. I've been trying to get a dog for years, but my mother keeps telling me no. It is about 5 years before I grow old enough to buy one of my own. *sighs*
I just obtained a aussie pup of my own, he's my first show dog :) He's a blue merle aussie. His Sire name is CedarWood's Rare Blue Jasper. He's only about 3mo right now and has his first show. His mom looked that this pup here. This is also my first show dog, :) He's going to do agility, confermation, obiden, and herd ducks and sheep :)
Our Aussie has been easy to train. He potty trained in less than two weeks. He knows sit, lay down, roll over, high five, sing, say please, bring it, get it, stand, sit pretty and back up. He can jump through a hoop, loves to get on the trampoline with my kids and can even climb a ladder to get on the kids loft bed! I'm SO glad this is the breed of dog we chose for our family. He is very smart and very loving.
@theflyfishkid Yes they are. I've owned a lot of dogs (rottweilers, labs, chows, german pointers) and Aussies are the toughest to train. It's cause they are mind-blowingly intelligent and thus very stubborn. But they are worth the effort!
@theflyfishkid - I must disagree with suferqueen123. I think that Aussies are very EASY to train! The easiest, in fact, of any dog Ive ever had/trained. They are, like suferqueen123 said, very smart & so sometimes they try to find ways out of work lol. I got mine when he was 6 weeks. By 8 weeks he completely understood "sit" and "laydown." By 10 weeks I could tell him "sit" and "stay" and I could leave the room & come back like 2 minutes later, he wouldnt have moved a muscle. Awesome dogs. :-)
Awww. Mylo is such a cutie! I have a female black and white aussie. She's a very ol puppy. She's 10.2 years. I think that 70 in people years... Anyway, I love her a lot!
CUTE! I've also got a red merle aussie (red merle/ 4 yrs) called Jasper :) He looks very like Mylo but he's slightly browner... and he's got blue and brown eyes ;) Do Mylos eyes have different colors? They look blue but slightly brown too...
Lovely dog...looking now for a blue merle...miss my Flower girl so much...had to send her to the Rainbow Bridge in September...the seizure monster got her...RIP my sweet little girl...thanks for the wonderful video, made me cry in a good way!
Hi! I would love to have a mini tri color Aussie shepherd with 2 blue eyes. Where can I find them??

I noticed this video is about 2 years old. Now would you mind telling me if these are generally hard dogs to train? Also, do they make good family pets? I have just realized its existence and am in love with them!
Dav1dwuzhere 1 year ago
@Dav1dwuzhere Well, they are very fast learners and so the beginning steps of training are pretty easy. However, because Aussies are so intelligent, sometimes its like trying to train a stubborn teenager lol. Sometimes it gets frustrating, but if you can give them lots of exercise and lots of mental stimulation, they are amazing, loving dogs. I can never go back to another breed ; )
surferqueen123 1 year ago
@Dav1dwuzhere
KKLJ010110 1 year ago
@KKLJ010110 He is your kid? Your spelling stuff for your dog?

SO cute! beautiful pup!
Dependablehero 1 year ago

Because border collies are and they are sheperd dogs to. do aussies just relax or run around your family the whole time
floortje86 1 year ago

:) thanx
shortygurl2032 1 year ago
@shortygurl2032
Saiikz 1 year ago
@shortygurl2032
Saiikz 1 year ago
Don't know why anybody would say Aussies are hard to train. We own 5 of them and they all learn very quickly for they are quite intelligent and eager to please. The one thing you have to watch is the fact that they require TONS of intense physical activity otherwise they can become quite destructive for they get bored and restless quickly. ... They LOVE their humans and will just about do anything to please you, including training.
BStewart2nd 1 year ago 22
@BStewart2nd Yes, the beginning stages of training and obedience were very easy, but anything more advanced than that gets a little difficult. It's because they are so incredibly smart that it's like training a stubborn teenager lol.
surferqueen123 1 year ago 5
@surferqueen123 Same as Border Collies... All you have to do is wear them out by running them for 2-3 hours. *THEN* train them. Otherwise they have crazy ADD. ;)
sh0 1 year ago
@surferqueen123 hey im a teenager lmao but yea im stuborn at times and i kno wat u mean lmao!!! i want one of these dogs now but to bad we live in a cat only building :( and we have 3 birds 2 rats 2 hamsters and 2 guinea pigs lmao!!! like when i move out i may go adopt one from an spca or something!!!
tylerwalker2 1 year ago
@surferqueen123 I have four Border Collies. They are easy on the first steps but they are difficult on the advanced stuff precisely because they are working dogs. They need to respect the 'top dog' and have consistent training. They're smart, you can't bluff them.

@BStewart2nd yo does your aussies have bob tails? i've seen sum with long too i don't get whats up with them
SarmVX 1 year ago
@SarmVX Aussies can be born WITH, or WITHOUT a tail. The breed standard says tails are not desirable, due to their working nature, the tails can just get in the way. Aussies that are born with a tail, sometimes get them docked. But others may keep the tail.
Chldrnfbdm4 1 year ago
@Chldrnfbdm4 I can't imagine my aussie without a tail. That's half her personality! :)
suburbanvultures 1 year ago
@Chldrnfbdm4 : the breed standard says? f**k that! i hope this breed never degenerates into discussions of breed standards. thats ruined many a decent breed,

I have 2 aussies, and yes, they are INCREDIBLE dogs!! I'm hooked!! Thankfully we have 6 acres and horses for them to herd or they might be destructive. I love that they want nothing more than to please us!!!
cabosmom06 1 year ago
@BStewart2nd
ShadowFolf 1 year ago
@BStewart2nd I was hoping to adopt a red merle after I graduate, and I have been trying my best to read up and such so I'm not unprepared. As an owner of five already, do you have any advice you wished to share? haha besides what you've already shared?
Thanks!
Tamarulyn 10 months ago
@BStewart2nd I agree. We have 3 aussies. they were all very easy to train including their names house/potty training and tricks!! here are a few my dogs know: sit, down, roll over, jump, speak, shake, tada! (bow), bang! (play dead) and they are great at finding things. out oldest aussie can open doors!! he jumps up and turns the nob or grabs the bottom!! its funny cuz i will let the other dogs in and he will go to a different door so he can show off his skills! haha
kaykay12345654321 8 months ago
You guys with dogs are so unbelievable lucky, you got someone to cuddle up with and play with. I've been trying to get a dog for years, but my mother keeps telling me no. It is about 5 years before I grow old enough to buy one of my own. *sighs*
Your puppy is very very cute :]

ElectricChalk 1 year ago
Our Aussie has been easy to train. He potty trained in less than two weeks. He knows sit, lay down, roll over, high five, sing, say please, bring it, get it, stand, sit pretty and back up. He can jump through a hoop, loves to get on the trampoline with my kids and can even climb a ladder to get on the kids loft bed! I'm SO glad this is the breed of dog we chose for our family. He is very smart and very loving.

ive heard these are hard to train, true?
theflyfishkid 1 year ago
