Rover 220 Turbo

one of the major problems i had and still having with my rover turbo tomcat is few months ago everytime it went past 5,000 rpm, the left side cv would pop out and i would get a new cv put in then it will come out again and again. i checked it myself and found a bits of broken washer in the hole in the tranny that the cv goes in to. and i just got told that it needs a new transmision just because of that broken washer, so im prety disapointed in rover. Anyone kno whow to fix this cv problem?

wrong engine mate, this is the T-series, its the K-series that is renowned for its HG going.

but in my experience i have never had an engine blow up, so i think they are bloody good engines

240-250 isn't much of a problem, above that the pockets need to be deep.

230 with some expense yes, but reaching 250 is gonna be expensive and require a lot of changes.

Reason being the t-series stock out of the factory is already tuned to its top performance nearly already.

for a t series to get 250 bhp dont take alot at all. t 28 turbo 20 bhp, front mount intercooler 5 bhp, full exhaust with a de cat 10 bhp, and up the boost from 7 psi to a reliable 12 psi for another 10 bhp and there u have it. did these to my coupe turbo and it put out 247.2 bhp. them mods were only just short of a grand so not that expensive however i then went onto putting in forge pistons and rods in and thats when it starts getting expensive but worth every penny

actually 200bhp was its de-tuned power output. they had to reduce power and torque to save the gearbox. in top form they have seen over 800bhp. 250bhp would not be a problem at all.

The weakness on this engine lies with the pistons which are cheap cast jobbies and really about at their limit on standard boost levels. The first port of call tuning a T16 is a decent set of forged pistons. After that you can play with boost levels safely.

People "get away with" higher boost on standard pistons, but it's a lottery. Ask any decent engine builder, and none will recommend playing with boost on these crappy standard pistons.

The rest of the engine is tough as old boots.

A standard car has 200BHP and does 0-60 in 6.2 secs. A lot of owners fit a tubo boost valve to give 240BHP and you are looking at 5.9s to 60MPH. However, this can blow up the engine if it has standard pistons. Modding the engine, I've heard of people getting 350BHP. For a car with 320BHP you are looking at a 0-60 of under 5s.

Best of all the insurance is dirt cheap on Rovers!

isso com caixa diferente é outra coisa, caixa de origem é k transmite a verdadeira potencia do carro, esse em 5ª as 5500rpm vai a 200kmh... eu com caixa original a essa rotação vou a 230kmh, sao pekenas coisas k se notam a diferença, esse corta mt cedo ;) parabens, mas o carro ja ta na mao de um amigo ;)
