The recording part probably happens at the sound board. To me, it doesn't makes sense to record everything with one mic. Everything would probably sound very mushy. Recording with multiple mics would give you so much more control.
He doesn't look as skeletal, he looks some what younger, yet more mature ever since he gained some weight. It think it's a good thing. Seems like the last couple years he wanted to clean up a a bit.
