This song represents teen angst and frustration. It's one of their best for sure and it has that anthemic 'I can'tstand losing' feel. This is one of the bsongs that really got me into the Police when I was about 14 and now they are one of my fav bands since they got back together and released the ultimate self titled Police album. Awesome!

I've noticed there's quite a bit of reggae influence in their music.

Music has always been influence and attempt to copy A major reason there are so many jazz types- someone copies a genre wrong and a new sound is born. R&B American born but it was Europe that was starved for the sound and couldn't get enough of the influence- hence the "Brittish invasion". It is said the one who came closest to the R&B sound was 17 yr old Steve Winwood when he wrote GIMME SOME LOVIN. He would come back again at 40 with a S. American sound.
