This is, by far in my opinion, the best Smothers Brothers album they made. My favorite anyway. Hiawathia, Black is the color of my true loves hair,Carnival (the "Jewish" song), and who can forget "The Shrimp"? I havn't herd this in 30 years, thanks for posting this, it has brought back many fond memories. I wish i could get a copy of this album.
P.S. Isn't this song an old Shell Silverstein rendition?
Dick Biondi was just talking about this song tonight on WLS-FM! Someone requested it back in the '60s and he told her he couldn't find it, so she E-mailed him this week, nearly 50 years later and he had to tell her the same thing! But I searched for it here and found it! :-) Thanks for posting.
i love the smothers brothers. crabs walk sideways was the first "novelty" song i'd ever heard and have been a lover of them since. thank you for the memories
This song has been a part of me since I was a young child. I still sometimes sing the ‘chorus’. I am so happy to hear it again! Bless you for posting this!
ALL the changes theses wonder-full men made in this world!!!! The Smothers Brothers are truly a blessing to this planet!
What I find oddly more funny then the punchline, is the line "I'll show them that crabs really aren't that bad." *blinks* That sounded SO wrong on many levels, lol
I haven't heard this in almost 30 years. My mom has a handful of S.B. albums, and my sister and I just loved to listen to them (she's the one who directed me to this link). We loved to sing all the songs, too.... Just yesterday I sang "Soap soap soap soap soap soap soap soap" to my mom over the phone and she laughed and laughed. Looking at the picture of the abum cover, I can clearly smell the "old book" sort of smell the old LPs had. Thanks so much for posting!
I have loved the Smothers Brothers for years and have such fond memories of listening to album as a child. Thanks for putting that family smile back on my face!

I played this song in a talent show @ Malibue Rapids BC in 5/84, including Sally being "baked"

My mom had this record when I was little... It was quite a part of my childhood. x) I'm 16 now, I still remember almost every word... It's awesome.
