  • I miss hearing Andrew shred on the violin. He doesn't really do that in his newer music.

  • It's interesting that this was done only a week after 9/11

  • yeah so good

  • Lol, if you look at recent concerts, bird looks like a hippie O.o

  • WORK IT OUT ANDY HOPKINS AT 2:09!

  • if you like this, try Gogol Bordello. You'll love it.. plus I think they have a free download on their Myspace page so check it out!

  • Danger of playlists: I have owned the Thrills CD for years but I did not remember this song at all. It was this video that made me rediscover it! Thank-you very much for posting it!

As an aside...that drummer is really good!

  • I love Andrew so much....His new album is legendary, but I wish I could have seen him with THE BOWL OF FIRE because this just rocks my socks off!

  • you should listen to stephan grapelli. in my opinion, they sound very much alike on the violin

  • Is that a ferret on his mic stand?

  • I wish that these guys would come out with another album like "Grandeur" or "Thrills". Not so much a fan of Birds new stuff.

  • bowl of fire was so much better than the new stuff, i cant listen to the newer stuff. saw these guys in 98 with the zippers, excellent show

  • I wish Bowl of Fire still did shows. Another album would be fucking great.

  • it was suggested I check out Andrew Bird to see the comparison with Stoney (from the UK)

see my videos - cant seem to post a youtube link on here.

    Interesting band for sure

  • I love the old django style of this song :D

  • mee too!!!!!!! a lot of his stuff kind of has a gypsy swing/ragtime sound

  • Also, for all of you people who likes Bowl of Fire, listen to the guitar solo in Minor Stab, it's just out of this world, the studio version that is. Never heard it live. I always end up listening in awe to that guitar solo. I don't know the name of Bird's guitarist in Bowl of Fire.

  • It changed, but for MInor Stab I'm pretty sure it was James Mathus from the Squirrel Nut Zippers. He helped a lot with Andrew Birds early recordings. Played trombone and banjo for him from time to time as well.

  • Awesome. Funny how that line "malcontent through osmosis" makes it into Imitosis too :)

  • He also sings about poor old Pierrot in another song than Minor Stab.

  • Yeah, he reuses lyrics a lot. The phrase "ritual self-torture" is in more than one song (though I couldn't tell you which ones).

  • Seriously....if I could hop into a time machine, a Bowl of Fire show would be one of my first stops. Preferably at the Hideout in Chicago.

  • I agree with all of you, finally bowl of fire

Thrills is my favourite CD...so different, so catchy, you just want to dance to the music :)

  • "because sheep are benign, and on their young we will dine." Bowl of Fire lyrics were crazy in such a different way than solo Andrew Bird lyrics. I love it.

  • Yes, REALLY good to see stuff from Thrills or Oh the Grandeur... though there should be much more!!

  • Indeed!

  • Great to see Bowl of Fire stuff up finally.

  • fantastic.

  • the only videos of andrew bird on youtube are of his last two cd's

  • oh i love that drummer.

  • werd. Kevin O'Donnell is awesome. Check out his band Kevin O'Donnell's Quality Six if you already haven't.

  • Ahhhhhhhhh love.

  • The Bowl of Fire was sooo goood.

  • Congratulations on having the only video of an Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire perfomance that I have ever been able to find. Great sound quality too. Right on.
