The soldiers were boarding the ship with Paintball guns (Useless, the activists were wearing gas masks, bulletproof vests/flotation belts), and pistols (for self defense).
They were naively thinking that peace activists would not use lethal force to stop them (as were the other five ships). Is it a crime to believe that the activists are against hitting people with metal rods and knives while they are on the ground, and throwing them over deck?

Israeli terrorists fired live shots at the ship before they invaded it, IDF terrorists already fatally injured several people before people used sticks and chairs to stop the invaders.
