I figured out that I would not take my risks. I want to keep my 30 GB of music, movies, comedy and audiobooks.

I nearly cried once when I got my iPod corrupted but I managed to get it all back by dumping the files I want to my PC and losing the others I can easily get.

You really want to be keeping two copies of all your music, movies and audiobooks. One on the iPod and one on your PC or external drive.

Not always a case of the iPod getting corrupted. I dropped an 80GB iPod last year, crashed the hard disk, that was the end of that. With a crashed hard disk there is no copying back.

Fortunately I had all my 70GB+ of music and audiobooks on the computer. This was easy, I bought a new iPod and just copied all the music and audiobooks back to the new iPod.
