Damn these animals are PSYCHOTIC! Shoving food down Eeyore's throat?! Dropping him from a fatal height?! Forcing him to plow the garden?! Riding on him while he's dangerously bouncing about? I'd be clinically depressed too if I lived with these PSYCHOS.
As beautiful and poignant that moment at the end is... even as a kid I always wondered what sort of natural phenomenon would cause the sky to do that.
I felt as though Eyore wasn't sad or emo at all. In fact, even as a kid I pretty much thought he was the smartest one of the group, who happens to be kind of like the romantic poet.
Thanks for the post. It's been so long since I last seen this or any other episode of this show. I love the last part too. Old school Disney animated shows, great nostalgia!
This episode, particularly the last scene, is so touching. I remember watching at like 4am in 2001 when I was kind of depressed and then ridiculously bawling. But now in 2009, I still find it incredibly touching.
I love this show, not only because I grew up on it but because of everything about it! Best animation for TV, great voice acting, awesome writing, the sound track is so good! I just love everything about this show; always have, always will! =]
I remeber back in 2005-2006 when this would come on every morning. I would watch it before I went to high school. I wish they would bring it back along Brandy and Mr. Whiskers. I miss those two.
I have never seen such a Romantic depiction of Eeyore. Sitting atop the peak of a hill, surrounded by a naturalist setting, he virtually ascends to the heavens. At first the image seems to be poingant, but we later learn that it is simply vivid, without any cause for sadness. A donkey lost in his own world, and we were lucky enough to witness the sky through his eyes, if only for a brief, sublime moment.
This was show was my childhood - almost every night, I would watch episodes of this show as a kid. This will always be one of my favorite cartoons of all time.
One of the most Beautiful Cartoon shorts ever produced..... period. Past or Present. Its like having a wonderful heartache injected in you're soul. Cant say enough about this film. I dare someone not to cry after seeing it
This my favorite episode. It was at the credits that I realized my friend Peter Cullen played the part of Eeyore.
Andre-Owl
Jim- Pooh are also my friends too.
Piglet is now dead
as is my friend Wayne -Mickey Mouse
Russie his wife Minnie Mouse is the most wonderful woman in the world.
I treasure the times I spent with them.

If we had the sky paint like magic every sunset, I'd go sit outside and look at the sky paint everyday :)

I love eeyor he is my favortie winnie the pooh character. He might be sad and depressing but he has a good heart.
And he reminds me of Miser. Ed, peter cullen sounds just like mister ed with a combination of optimus prime

You know, the cloud painting scene reminds me of a fireworks show during the 4th of July.

Eeyore is never happy. He mopes around like a sorry animal. Cheering up Eeyore sounds like a good idea. I'd like it if someone did that for me.
