  • i think she and violinist may be in love.

  • rockin

  • this is like watching sex with instruments.

  • this is the best there is.

  • god where is she getting these chord progressions from? she's certainly studied her jazz changes.

  • @jsnell126 She went to Berkeley for music I believe.

  • @RecentFuture yeah... Berklee. So did Andrew Bird. A lot of people go to music school, but it's rare these days for someone write a song with all these unusual chord changes and put in on their indie rock album.

  • @jsnell126 Well it's funny you should mention that, because Andrew bird is notably gifted musically. Saying, "yea, so did Andrew Bird," in regards to music does not detract from the point at all. If you go to music school you will learn these things, so it's not terribly surprising that they are employed in song -- if it's really that rare and surprising to you, you should consider diversifying the music you listen to.

  • @RecentFuture @RecentFuture i wasn't detracting from your point but making another: annie clark is a rare gem of an artist for being able to sell herself as a popular indie rocker, yet still use her skills as a musician to write a straight up jazz song.

as a songwriter she's very unique. probably half of her songs are not in a standard major or minor key. but she's able to create accessible music and have a top 20 album.
