i think one of the reasons why filipinos shine in competitions is because they never fail to pray for his divine will and to give back the glory to God. probably part of his PR plan to make his good works be known is to bless those who remember him always. manny pacquiao, leah salonga, charice and arnel pineda - they all credit and thank GOD for his blessings. this is a common trait among Filipinos.

@zane230 That's not the "western concept of beauty". In the USA, people would much rather have tan skin than white. I think you mean it's the "Asian concept of beauty". My Indonesian friend says that people in her country bleach their skin and in China, you are usually considered more beautiful if you have whiter skin. Don't pin that on "westerners".
