  • Thanks to Ian Gillan and Ronnie James (Dio) for inspiring a far better singer / frontman than both of them, a guy called Bruce Dickinson.

  • Gillian through his voice in black sabbath

  • P U T A Q U E O PARIUSSSSS !!!!!!

  • I love this song!!!! great band!!!

  • Very rare songs and excellent music.thats what i call a band

  • to terryorr,

Don't sound too messy to me. But your insight is nice...

  • What a great narative......BRAVO>>>this song rocks!

  • Good show Ritchie and Paice !

  • Good show Ritchie and Paice !

  • We like and Love Deep Purple

  • I think I may have solved the mystery of Richies poor guitar sound in the first half of this performance. It appears that in the first half he was using a wireless transmitter ala Angus Young and it kept cutting out on him for whatever reason. Later in the video you can see a cable draped over his left arm ( he would often do that to prevent the cable being pulled out of the guitar while he moves around).

  • Ritchie is teasing the badvoiced Ian, and enjoying it. This vid shows how bad they were as a team at the end of Purple. They realy hated the guts of each other.

    I love Deep Purple

  • @eriksoer i agree- i think blackmore tries to blame Ian... but Ian saves hisself by turning the thing into "jesus christ, superstar" - maybe that was what they needed to make such outstanding performances...

  • Poor Ian. He just blew that scream at the end. Oddly enough If the Purple reunion had taken place in 82 or 83 he would have been able to do the scream Beautifully.

  • Ritchie and Ian rip when they're together.

  • Ian Paice; c'mon, mate - look at that gut - you been eating all the pies?

  • When I saw them in Germany in 1971 they kicked my ass!! Ian Piace is the best damned left handed drummer I've ever seen play the drums. There was also no mistaken the Ritchie Blackmore sound. Strat through a Marshall. Yea, we all get older, but without a doubt, us baby-boomers lived in a time like no other, or ever will be again. Music was art. Now it's the shit. What happened to the art?

  • In this video Gilliam does not sound as good as he did back in the 70s but I saw them a few years ago in SF and he sounded amazing. He healed his voice . I couldn;t believe it.

The scat on CHILD IN TIME was as good as it ever was !

  • gillan cant sing like in the old days :(((((((

  • @shotguy1

  • @BLUFOX411 i mean like in the OLD DAYS.his voice is wonderful now, just not like in the old days...

  • Did anyone else notice that Ritchie led Ian right into a segue to Rice & Weber's "Jesus Christ Superstar?" And Ian ran with it, getting the crowd into it. You know why, right? Ian had played the part of Jesus in the British stage production of it. Ritchie was probably trying to trip him up; there seemed to be some tension there in that back-and-forth thing they had going on.

  • Sounds like Ian losing his voice in this concert =P

  • What the hell was that ending...if you look at the older performances of this same song, it's not the same at all. :|

  • YEA,yea, yea,YEA,YEA,yea, yea,,FOREVER DEEP PURPLE MARK 2,,,,WONDERFUL AND CLASICS,,,

  • wow, Deep Purple!

  • Blackmore was always in a piss , to be fair his guitar was playing up too so he was in a real strop

  • it seems like blackmore is annoyed by gillan when he's singing next to him. To me its like; come on guys you're making shitloads of money and playing in front of huge crowds. What's the problem here?

  • the problem is blackmore missed the riff we all do it its aloud blackhawk10972 ,me play the spoons

  • @blackhawk10972 yeah sure "seems" like it,ha ha,i have this one dvd and they're playing burn and gillan is doing that scat sort of thing, smirking as he looks over at blackmoore, who's just glaring at him, gillan just keeps going on and on laughing and smiling, easy to tell ritchie was not impressed(mk2)split up after that tour

  • Blackmore often criticised Gillan and called him "Lazy" because Gillan was known to spend too much time with his dozens of female groupies. Gillan had the last laugh by writing the song "Lazy" as a retort to Blackmore. Gillan called Blackmore "The Banjo Player" because Blackmore was known to play a sort of messy plucking style when he was in a bad mood which was often.

  • @terryorr I always thought Ritchie was known as 'The Banjo Player' because when on the bus he was dicking around with his Banjo when he came up with Smoke of the Water. Rodger thought Drug song? Nope!!

The rest of it we already know.

  • @Starpass yep

  • @terryorr haha..thanks for this info.

  • Why did Blackmore and Gillan fall out with each other?

  • blackmoore is an narzist

    that's a fact

  • Ritchie spiller da elendigt her !

  • Too bad Gillan had a cold when they shot the only exsisting pro-shot video (that has surfaced) of a full concert from the MK.II reunion tour/Perfect Strangers tour. Still, fantastic performance!

  • sempre grandi

  • fantastic.Maybe i did not understand, but Ian Gilan sings Jesus Cristh Superstar in this tune? Does he? sorry to ask, english ist not my official language. Great Deep Purple.

  • Yes, he did sing part of Jesus Christ Superstar in here. As a matter of fact, I think he was the best singer ever to perform Jesus in the musical

  • He never played the musical. He only recorded the concept album.

  • great song .....i love is the band ...gracias deep purple por existir ....chile rock

  • plapplaplplap...

  • What Happend in the beggining with the guitar!

  • @sigakak he prolly accidently hit the volume knob with his pinkie it happens all the time for me on strats... ugh

  • This is Ian gillan Duh.... He is still a great singer. We are all growing older. Back off with the I dont sound like I am 22 years old on the record. I an is still cool

  • this so reminds me of ny boyfriend geoff when i was 18 loved him and the song we split up but my feelings are still there even after 30 yrs

  • zoli780830

It Is Jan Gilan, did u not se.

  • Let me to recover Your words, please!

"It is Ian Gillan, did you not see?"

    Sorry!

  • Looks like Ian Gillan is trying to 'keep it all together' here - & looks like Richie doesn't give a shit - bad one Richie , & you must know it.

  • You gotta love Ritchie's hairpeace

  • yeah i guess i'm stupid too 'cause i could not spell Stupid x°°°D

    Anyway, really this is Ian.

  • lol you dtupid, this is Ian Gillan...

    lol.

  • mobbastah:

    Thanks for the info!

    I really didn't recognize Him. Maybe this video's quality...I don't know :)

    Have a nice day!

  • jajajajajajajajajaja

    ;)

  • cool

  • there not evern trying cos they dont need to there talanted

  • lord blackmore paice gillan e glover??

  • blackmore's smile at 2:12.... evil evil evil

  • Anybody...when was this? Here is a memory to share...back in the 70s a garage band I was in did this song. Deep Purple was one of my favorite bands...really evolutionary with Lord's organ and Blackmore's screaming guitar. Rock on brothers.

  • do you know how to read??

  • Your are obnoxious, immature and likely an idiot.

  • You don't know, you're gay and you can't read the description at your right. This is from 1985 fag

  • Awesome band ! can't wait till november to see those guys !!

  • looks like there not even trying

  • Weird: This does not seem to be a completely focused performance. Tired lads, long tour? Rather be at the pub?

  • Yeah, you're right. I saw their much better performances... and Blackmore's feet seem to be glued to the stage, he isn't moving them at all. I realy love DP, but I don't like this performance. It also contains a few muscial mistakes... I saw a lot of better ones.

  • personalmente Gillan se me hace de lo smejores 5 vocalistas del rock, pero del 80´para delante es un desastre

  • WTF gillan, is all out of tune. Dammmm

  • Me and my friends used to listen to this a lot when we were kids, the catch? We didn't speak English back then.

And somewhere at the age 14/15 we listen to it again and somebody goes - Wait, WTF was that? Rewind!

And so we listened to the lyrics. Cue Amazed Faces, There was this girl and she DIED

    O_O

Goodness that was great, they moped the floor with us that day

  • I wonder what Ritchie Blackmore is doing these days.

  • isnt he still doing blackmore's night? i think he got married recently

  • he is performing with his own band where the singer is his wife.the band is called Blackmore's Nights

  • :D Blackmore's Night ,not Nights :D:D

  • nice

  • Pure royalty of Rock history!!

  • i think this is the time where gillan had his vocal cords all messed up

  • Cable Problem??? 0:02

  • they are not heavy metal...they are maybe pioneers or inventers of havy metal sound but they cant be catergorized as heavy metal they are just hard rock hahah but Gillan is aa monster! JEA!!!!

  • Ian is the best vocalist in the history of Heavy Metal.of course

  • @speedkingb hard rock, not heavy metal.

  • I like this song...

  • Deep Purple is DEEP. So good

  • What the Hell was Blackmore using on his guitar sound back in those days. There is so high end on it and half the time it sounds like his fingers are getting stuff in the strings. His sound back in the 70's was so much better and vicious then it was in the 80's.

  • marshall plexi single coils various phase fuzz delays

  • Blackmore was never a particularly nice person, but he is a great guitarist and is not sloppy on this video

  • Did see D.P. in 1999, Total Abondon tour with Steve Morse and it was one of the best nights id had in a while. Steve was good, but had to fill big shoes.

Gillian was a bit rusty at first, but thank fuck for evergreens like Lord Paice and Glover. Those 3 where brilliant as usual.

    Total Abandon rocks.

Pricks forgot about their Aussie fans for years.

  • man, ritchie was actually smiling at gillan for once at 2:11. perhaps back then, blackmore liked the reunion with purple. of course that all changed in 1993.

  • looked like he was messin' w/ gillian, like "i can punch your lights out w/ this one quick move"..

  • and thats exactly what he did, to gillan and to the rest of the band...

    but still he's a great guitarist :D

  • I think he really fucked up his voice because of the 1 year stint he did with Sabbath after Dio and Vinny Appice were fired from the band over the controversy that was Live Evil

  • i hade tickets to Sabbath in 1980, in Ozz, with Gillian singing.Band cancelled tour , was so looking forward to it. i love d.p and sabbath, but Gillian did'nt suit Sabbath.

    W

  • well although Gillan doesn't sound as amazing as he usually does, he still fucking kicks ass, Ian you influenced vocalists like Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson, but who would think you would continue to influence people today, well if you don't believe it, let me just say I love the way you do falsetto's and screams and that was a major influence on me. Thanks Ian, god bless your soul

  • jesus christ superstar was a perfect filler for this song :) plus the song its self was excellent to begin with :D

  • trop super se groupe grace a yotube je trouve enfin mais mais groupe de chanteure je dit merci a youtube et voir les vidéos ses trop bien merci yotube

  • what did gillan drop off the stage

  • some fekin flower

  • jesus christ superstaaar*sing*^^

  • oh, the vocals on this are so awful... I cant even rave about Blackie's solo like normal, maybe its just the overall audio of the clip, Jon Lord sounds good tho. "Jesus Christ Superstar", lol, thas the last filler Id expect Blackie to throw in tho, on The Mule maybe...BUT HERE?...still love seeing them so much tho. thanks for adding it.

  • I'm more into metal, but man... Deep Purple fucking rocks!

  • Gillan was so bad in 1985. Now he has better voice. In 1985 he had problems with alcohol and drugs.

This reunion was a "money reunion"

  • great version of this song, Blackmore is awesome as always

  • Grandi!!!!!! Gillian e Blackmore sopra tutti!!!

  • si ma si odiano...

  • chissenefrega, ha solo detto giustamente che sono grandi

  • they should never stop they have to tell the world what was and still is the best music of all times ! because the nowaday music really sucks, deep purple rules

  • Ignitey (1 month ago) Show Hide

Just gotta love mkII. Blackmore is my hero.

  • These guys rock but mixer messed up the intro!

  • Just gotta love mkII. Blackmore is my hero.

  • Ritchie's solos of this song in Made in Japan are among his greatest and most inspired. Can't say the same about this video. He's still the best though. :)

  • Absolutely ! , I love the original "Made in Japan" album - one of the greatest live albums of all time - Ritchie's gtr. playing got me hooked on that bluesy guitar playing - I love the way that he played on the album- it's so beautiful' - Best wishes

    GB

  • Ian was very sick, but the years have caught up with his beautiful voice, boozing it up and cigarettes have fucked him up, but I still luv you !!!!!

  • Just face it.. Gillan is not as great anymore.. its sad..

I think Deep Purple should call it a day now and stop.. Rithie and Lord have understandet that :(

  • Ritchie left Purple because he is an ass, Jon left because he is old and wants to retire and pursue other projects

  • Blackmore is awesome, gillan starting to lose his ability to sing the very high notes!

  • Ian Gillan

  • i agree with you... and is fucking amazing, that version.

  • Ohhh, my soul, I love you!!!

  • un verdadero himno...

    Perfect!

  • love the vocal-vs.-guitar soundoff, reminds me of Zeppelin.

Deep Purple, the kings of hard rock

  • Die größte Rockgruppe aller Zeiten !

  • Deep Purple rocks. Great song. I want you, i need you ..... hehe ;)

  • minkia ian sei succiato...mi riascolto la versione del made in japan...

  • como no ,otra gran cancion de los purple.para mi la mejor banda hard rock de la historia.

  • Gillan está afónico ahí, pero durante esa gira anduvo con una gran voz.

  • Gillian SUCKS!!!!(I think he was ill)

  • First of all get the name right,

    second stop using caps lock,

third cut down on the !, one i enough

    fourth.. grow up.

  • oooh its the grammar nazis

    get off your high horse

  • Looka at my Channel maybe you will like the music of my band!

    Watch "Dont Lose"°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

  • a great song!

  • I love this song

    Deep Purple ROCKS!!!!!!!

  • The thing that is "fucked up" about this video is Gillian's performance. Blackmore is nuts on! Gillian's personal destructive habits was the big reason Ritchie left the bad. It was becoming too much like Spinal Tap.

  • this is a good song but this version is fucked up.

  • can anybody put a good quality vid of deep purple cause the sound really sucks for fuck's sake

  • Deep Purple!!

    One of my favorites songs!!

    Good video

  • This and many others I think Znatural. Bearing in mind the relationship these two are supposed to have (not) had and Gillans apparent lack of respect for his amazing voice; Blackmore probably saw the guitar/vocal dual as a good opportunity to embarass him a bit!!

  • To be fair Gillans voice is buggered here...He has a cold by the sound of things!! Blackmore typically knows this and is trying to screw him!!

  • lol... which video are u talking bout?

  • Cre7tiv, last may at the Lotto Arena Antwerp with my daughters (15/17) waouw still talking about..fabulous....

  • Around 1984, long time ago. I remember, Dortmund live, first line...god, so long ago...

  • I want YOU I need YOU .....strange kinda woman........spent my money as I took my time

  • british rock at its highest but i am not interested in it any longer.

  • so wtf u doin' here, do not lie to yaself, yar in love with this music

  • great clip you made!!!

  • Why do you think that Blackmore is Crap. As a guitarist i think he is up there in the top 10. This is not the best video clip of Blackmore or Purple

  • Bit weak on the voice - bring back David Coverdale (not that he'd bother coming back!).

  • their just milking dp for as long as possible, the decent musicians realized it was time to end it,a great band once upon a time

  • Because Gillan kept losing his voice constanly, Blackmore couldn't work with him (Gillan) anymore, he thought that was very unprofessional (And he's bloody right!) For the best Deep Purple we just have to live with the footages that are left of the MK II until 1973. This Video shows how blackmore's teasing Gillan on the high notes. (Which he can't reach anymore). In my humble opinion Ian Gillan was the greatest rock- singer of the seventies!

  • The guy from Boston smoked him on just having a great voice. But I noticed even the guy from Boston couldn't hit all his notes live. But in the studio he was masterful. Just listen to more than a feeling.

  • yeah! more than a feeling. fantastic guitar and vocal work

  • was this the flip of the Black Night single or Livin Wreck?

  • gillan and blackmore seem to actually enjoy each other during the first solo. By the way i saw DP in july and they were very good, lord and blackmore left the band to play vastly different music

  • The current Deep Purple line-up is touring and only playing 3 Morse-ers songs. And people say they're not a nostalgia band. They're demeaning themselves.

  • There is only one Ritchie Blackmore

  • Gillan lost his voice and DP without Blackmore and Lord, can you really call it 'Deep Purple' ? For me, it's Gillan/Glover/Paice and guests. An honnest band, but not DP.

  • joe, you're stupid, ritchie blackmore is the best guitar player

  • He was and he is a great guitar player - but the riffs and the solos in this version are poor. maybe a tuning of the guitar might have helped... and i am not stupid - i saw them in 1973 and it was great - but sometimes it is better to say good-bye. meanwhile they are just boring old farts

  • I agree with you, Joe. It's time for them to say goodbye. Ritchie and Jon understood it, but not Gillan, Glover and Paice.

  • Well...i think DP is better than ever now.

  • U DUMBASS

  • i saw deep purple on the 10th of august and i must say it was awesome.

gillans voice was nearly destroyed in the 80's and 90's but to me it seems that he had practiced and worked very hard, to make his voice stronger and better. he did a wonderful job. glover was tight as always and paicey showed again that he's the drum-master!
