  • Pretty cool clip, you show photos of the men running for Prez in 1968 as Nez speaks - great stuff. I believe it Nixon, Humphrey and McGovern as major candidates. Of course, we know Bobby Kennedy ran as well then and got shot that summer. Who were some of the others?

  • I looked it up on Wikipedia, and for the Dems it was Roger Branigin, John Crommelin, Paul Fisher, Thomas Lynch, Daniel Moore, George Smathers, & Stephen Young. For the Reps, it was Frank Carlson, Clifford Case, Hiram Fong, John Lindsay, Ronald Reagan, James Rhodes, the Rockefeller brothers Nelson & Winthrop, George Romney, Harold Stassen, John Volpe, & William Westmoreland. I may have missed some.

  • @23literford140 - McGovern didn't run until 1972. You may be confusing him with Eugene McCarthy, whose campaign galvanized the anti-war movement and made it possible for Kennedy to run as a viable candidate. In the general election, independent George Wallace, who had started out as an old-style, segregationist Southern Democrat, ended up carrying 5 states. (Wallace returned to the Democratic Party for the 1972 primaries, during which he got shot and paralyzed.)

  • People (the clueless ones) compare the Monkees to the Jonas Brothers regularly... I wonder what the response would be if an interviewer asked a Jonas brother about politics.

  • Let me guess... Uh... That would be it. Uh...

  • what is this off of? like were can i get it?

  • It's from the "Monkees Talk Downunder" CD. You can order a new copy from Amazon for $17, but you might be able to get a used copy for around $10.

  • Nice job Sharon

    Interesting interview

Great pics on the politics of the era

Havn't seen that movie in years

I remember it was quite 'off the wall'

  • Oh, "Head?" What a classic! Everybody and their brother was in that movie! It served to be a real springboard for Bert and Bob and for Jack Nicholson, too.

  • Wow, you did a fantastic job putting this together! Nice vid...and interview. :D

  • Thanks, Lisa. I gave plenty of advance warning that this one was coming, but I just never know how it's going to turn out until it's finished. I was after a sort-of documentary feel to the video. I hope I succeeded.

  • You did. The corresponding video brings everything together and makes it really enjoyable!

  • Mike: Drole, and funny Man.
