  • This is real godly music. I think that this truly must please God and give glory to His holy name.

  • _Same melody line as: 'Soldiers Of Christ, Arise." ` ☺_

  • This is my favorite hymn of ALL times. I hope that this will played when they celebrate my Homecoming. Oh, Lord, how great that would be.

  • This used to be a Easter hymn in the Methodist Church but not no more.

  • We live in a world that would do well to lay their crowns at the feet of the Prince of Peace - before they become His footstool! Shalom Jerusalem! Thanks for the video!

Matthew 13:15a;"For this people's heart has become calloused" Gal.4:25;"Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem" Deuteronomy 32:36;"The LORD will judge his people and have compassion on his servants when he sees their strength is gone and no one is left, slave or free"

  • I feel bad for not knowing the words to any hymns,,, but then again I always play the hymns in my church orchestra and not never sing them and this is my favorite hymn ever...

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (Nov. 21, Christ the King Sunday), we sang this as our closing hymn. It is #855 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. So ends the church year.

  • Crown Him with Many Crowns, a truely King of kings and Lord of lords.

  • Happy Easter everyone!

  • I love this song, and any song that praises our lord!Hallelujah!

  • love the royal sounding bits

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely. Mathew Bridges fabulous hymn to Elvey's wonderful tune and harmony, Diademata! Bridges was a master hymn writer - "Crown Him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time,

Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime!" Chrispixkingdom is really missing the point - Jesus is Lord despite the mess man has made of the nations thats the point and theology of the hymn.

  • good

  • Crown Him with many crowns as thrones before Him fall. Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns, for He is King of all.

  • AMEN!

  • Crown Him the Lord of Peace will ever be my second favorite...right after the Lord of Love :D

  • and then the best one, which always leaves me in tears:

Crown Him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time,

Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime!

    All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou has died for me;

Thy praise shall never, never fail through all eternity.

  • Noo... they missed out the 2nd half of the penultimate verse and the best bit of the final verse! It should be:

Crown Him the Lord of love, behold His hands and side,

Those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified.

No angel in the height can fully bear the sight,

Yet downward bends His burning eye at mysteries so bright.

  • Knowing that God is the true king and it is really Him that has control over all the nations gives me hope whenever I get upset thinking about the ungodliness of presidents and kings who rule over the nations today. We won't have to put up with their bad choices forever. Their rule will come to an end eventually. God is gonna be the only ruler in the end. Thank goodness!

  • Do you even understand how little sense that makes? You say god rules the nations, then you say that it is the ungodly kings and presidents who rule. Which is it? If it is god, why would he allow this evil at all? No loving being would allow such horror as plagues this planet to continue, not if it could intervene to help. There are only two options that present themselves, that your god is callous and vicious, or that he is not there at all.

  • The fact that God does not interfere with our choices does not nullify His existence. If He un-systematically interfered with our lives then Satan's lie would become a fact. Our God is a God of love. His existence is verified by your own existence. If God does not exist, then you neither exist too.

I hope it helps you understand this God of love that I have learned to love even up to today despite what has happened to my life and that of other humans.

  • CrispixKingdom: Ever heard of the phrase "you will not know love and peace if there is no evil and horror"? If you don't have trials, how will you learn to become a better person? If you don't have trials, will you treasure the pure love that comes from Him? We love because He first loved us.

  • @CrispixKingdom We were put on the earth as a test to see if we are worthy enough to serve him even in hardest of times. Faith in him is guaranteed reward in the end. And if you look at it the world today miracle's are happening constantly around you, just look deep down and see the meaning of it. There is many story's of lepers being miraculously healed. You first have to give to receive.

  • @CrispixKingdom God so loved us that when he created us he gave us free will. If you truly love someone you do not force them to do anything, because you love them so! God doesn't force us to believe in him it is up to us whether or not to place our trust in him. Unfortunately our free will and our rebellious nature gives way to all the evil you witness men do. Evil that deserves punishment indeed! But God so loved us that he gave up his only son who bore all the punishment we deserved.

  • Absolutely beautiful!! Praise Jesus forever!!

  • This hymn brings me to tears just about every time I hear it. Not only are the tune and text absolutely beautiful, they are so true. With all due respect to the Mormon people (many who are very good folk), I do not believe that the people singing this beautiful arrangement of this song truly grasp the meaning of the words that they are singing. I pray that some day before each of them dies that they do.

  • :) Blush, I should have waited till the end, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir....

  • What choir sang this? It is beautiful! One of my favorite hymns.

  • Thanks for posting this beautiful timeless hymn. The video montage is well suited to the lyrics.

  • These hymns are timeless especially sung by Mormon Tabernacle choir. I loved them while I was in Africa and still love them today. Anyone know where I could find a cd by Mormon Tabernacle which had medleys only? It was released late 80s or early 90s

    God bless.

  • amazing

  • When I was young and immature in my faith, I would discount hymns as "boring". As I matured in Christ, I learned of the importance of the lyrics, that our praise to Him is of what we sing, not how we sing it. I saw how true these old hymn lyrics were and began to love them more.

Hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity..

...for His reign shall know no end!

Thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity!

To God be the glory and praise; Gloria in excelsis Deo!

  • I love this song!

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (Feb. 1), I played this for our Sunday School assembly. I did so because my Sunday School lesson was Matthew's version of Jesus' Transfiguration. Just thought I'd share.

  • Those old 19th century hymns are excellent. I could listen to them all day.

  • This gave me goosebumps!!

    Beautiful and inspiring!

Thank you for posting this and God Bless!!

  • lol im singing this song in choir and im in jr high choir great song

  • Crown him the lord of years

    The potentate of time

    Creator of the rolling spheres

    Ineffably sublime

    All hail redeemer hail,

For thou hast died, hast died for me

Thy praise shall never , never fail,

    Throughout eternity

Also, besides missing this verse, they were late on the entrance on almost every line. Other than that, very awesome, great sound. LOVE it. =]

  • That is the best verse in the song too.

  • ahh..i like this song. im in the highschool choir at FBC Jacksonville and we're singing this for the pastor's confrence in a few days :]

  • WONDERFUL

  • this is better then awesome !

  • Crown Him the Lord of heav'n: One with the Father known, And the blest Spirit through Him giv'n From yonder triune throne: All hail, Redeemer, hail, For Thou hast died for me; Thy praise shall never, never fail Throughout eternity. Praise the Lord His love endures forever! Amen.
  • I agree with vickersman -- finally, the proper classic version. Raised a southern Presbyterian, I actually find the pop versions kind of offensive. And even this one, sad to say, leaves out the most profound verses -- an example, I suspect, of dumbing down this magnificent, subtle hymn for 21st century America. Check out the full lyrics for yourself: phrases like "ineffably sublime" would be lost on most churchgoers today, I'm afraid.

  • at last a proper version of this beautiful 19th century hymn, that hasn't been turned into a hideous pop song!

  • Thank you for posting this classic treasure.

  • Thank you,It was great.

  • A beautiful hymn with truly inspired lyrics. My favorite.

  • Thank you, It was great.
