Defazio school someone? That troll couldn't school a kindergarten class. Anyway, I don't like Rove all that much, but he is a very smart man, and one of the few political figures that can actually make a valid point.
The asshole who created this mess talking to the grand wizard mocking bird of his ideaology; how is this constructive? Rove bitching about voting discrepencies is like Jenna Jamison preaching abstinence (Whoops! I forgot about Sarah Palin!) Note to Karl "Himmler" Rove: Don't fuck with Peter DeFazio. That man will school your sorry eunuch ass with the foreign concepts of logic and rationality. Doesnt Rove look just like the chicken on Foghorn Leghorn who shoots down the paper airplane?
Housing prices was way over inflated, they did this to force the dollar down,on purpose. They are trying to create all of this caos so they can create the Amero.
I just read where Congress passed the 700 bil economic bailout. When Bush signs it, the man will make me feel like a used condom. He's done and I'm left holding the bag!
Karl Rove likes big government and illegal-immigration. Why the hell would any republican not want to beat the crap out of that fool and set his carcass afire?
call yourself a Capitalist again. "Social cry baby" is your new title.
I like this :)..Since when do the we roll over for the filthy rich in this country? As citizens of this Country it makes me sick that we just bend over! We should be in the streets screaming our asses off. DOWN WITH THE PUKES ON WALL STREET!
I'm no economist, but why doesn't Congress just give Americans the $70 billion? Well, not directly, but pay off the loans and debts and mortgages in danger of forclosure of Americans? Banks get their money, Americans get out of debt and it opens up their ability to spend again and boost our economy. What am I missing?
Understood, but, at the same time....TOUGH LUCK. They're lucky to just get that much after their crooked executives and Wall Street Monsters are the ones that screwed this thing up in the first place. Why are "we" concerned about "them"????
Congressman Sherman of Ohio said it best in a vid on youtube. Most this money is going to bail out foreign banks. it's a scam and blackmail.
the truth is they don't care about the American taxpayer. The senates still includes Paulsons unfettered ability to use this money for foreign banks. The only thing this bill will achieve is to shift the debt to the taxpayer while protecting the elite banksters.
Save those good ole banksters that are purposely made to take a fall.
I don't understand your question. How would responsible Americans be paying for idiotic ones with what I have suggested? I guess I can see how you'd make that argument but the truth is, with the current proposal, Americans will be paying regardless. I'd rather have my taxes raised but have my debts and mortgages paid off then to have my taxes raised and have greedy bankers and investors get all the money. The lesser of two evils.
Biden in the VP Debate mentioned that they might be giving money to homeowners to pay off their mortgages. That is basically taking money out of my pocket and paying other people for their bad decisions.
1st of all, don't believe everything u hear in a debate. But there's no doubt that this financial bailout plan will be coming out of our pockets. Period. Whether it goes to homeowners to pay off their mortgages or whether it goes directly to banks here and overseas and to money hungry corporatations that sold this terrible loans in the 1st place. WE WILL BE PAYING FOR THIS. I would just rather see the $ go to help average Joe than to go to Corporate America Wall Street Junkies to feed the greed.
If a candidate tells you that they will do "x" they are either speaking the truth or they are a liar. Is Biden a liar? No? Then he is taking my money to buy irresponsible people homes... I didn't buy a home because I realized that it was irresponsible, now I am going to be punished.
I know we will be paying for this. I would rather pay for it of my own decision rather than have the government take it from me by force.
mrat:"I didn't buy a home because I realized that it was irresponsible"
The worse part is that the housing market was overly inflated, and the main push behind the $700 billion was to keep people from losing value in their homes. WHY? Let the housing come back to affordability. So you lose some value for a while...it will come back.
This bailout was the most insane thing they could have done. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) said we needed a workout, not a bailout, using private money. He voted no.
mrat:"Biden in the VP Debate mentioned that they might be giving money to homeowners to pay off their mortgages"
You did not mention the more dangerous Biden mention during he debate: He wants to give judges the power to change the principle of the mortgage. Let's try to comprehend this for a moment. If I paid $400K for a house, a judge can say, you now only owe $200K. They want to let judges can decide what you owe.
and not all those who r facing foreclosure r idiotic Americans that lived beyond their means. Many r ppl who were duped & lied 2 by banks and mortgage companies who sold them AR loans. Granted, if they would have really read them & realized what they were getting themselves into, it might have dettered them from those loans. But most were made empty promises that they could refinance once their Adjustable Rate took effect. Now, obviously, because of this mess, most of those refis r not possible.
Before the left-wing on his party(Communist; Lee Harvey Oswald) turned his head into a canoe, I wonder if JFK ever titty fucked Nancy Pelosi? I've seen photos of old Jack leering at her.
They don't have to appear competent. This is how they win - search the following list in youtube and google:
- voter caging
- voter fraud
No matter Rep., Ind., middle of the road, or Dem. this voter fraud is an affront to the American people. And is of the highest crime. The right to vote is the FREEDOM American soldiers fight for. Don't let those soldiers that have died die in vain. Shout out a resounding NO. And keep shouting.
See unlike republicans who only see things as a repub vote and a dem vote, democrats see things differently or more correctly. Democrats pay attention to their voters who for the most part don't support the bailout bill
Ok, Pelosi, now that you've pointed your little finger in true partisan form, let's get your facts straight! 133 Republicans voted NO! and ONLY 95 Democrats voted No. So, who is it that listens to their constituents???
this rep. scum can't even point their crooked finger at their own. 2/3 of the repubs. voted no on a bill that their own president wanted to pass. STFU and take responsiblity for your own garbage. And where was their so called leader mccain to bring in the votes?
F U Karl Rove, you are the devil's vessel incarnate and have F'ed this country over royally. ALL you care about is politics. You SPIT on the common man. Stick your inside pol stuff up your lying fat ass.
Members should vote their conscience. The quality of house members has dropped as the dumbing down of Americans has kicked in at a deep level. The right vote was no. Work out a new plan that is bottom up and not top down. Practice saying "trickle up". You can fuck some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but after 8 years of the Neocons, folks know they have been gang raped, repeatedly. Take your fat cat bailout and shove it up your arse. It's a revolt.
Just because he IS exactly as you described doesn't make him wrong about this. Take a look at the NY TIMES, they even agree with him on this. Go look at the house votes. Virtually everyone in the house up for reelection voted no, everyone retiring voted yes.
Thats not to say I even agree with this bailout but the no votes were purely for that reason.
The Republicans have always voted for everything Bush has asked. Until now, and its the Democrats fault? Why should the Democrats have to bare the burden of bailing out the Republican's failed policy? This was designed to make the Democrats look bad and give a fake since on distance between the Republicans running for office and "toxic" Bush.
Listen to him whine. Hey Karl! - They make diapers in your massive size these days. Go poo-poo your pants somewhere else. Ha ha ha!!! Screw him anyway. yeah - We all can't be as honest as F'n Karl Rove. What a dick.
One of the great geniuses of politics. Whatever this man says...goes. He knows more about the political system than anybody else. Why McCain didn't pick him up on his campaign I dont know.
No one wins in arguments re. politics or religion because it brings about self-righteousness and sectarianism. It's imposing wills no matter what; the ego will insist on proving its point. Don't go back to the cause just figure out how to best live with the effect, w/o self destructive anger.Tired of the finger pointing.Lennon was right in the end. Of course he was put away. The ones who "got it" always are, usually w/ a bullet. Sad. Good luck America.
political party hubris is the real issue for most if not all the government's decisions. And pray tell was the GOP truly clear in their thinking when they decided on Mrs. Palin for their choice as second-in-command to this most powerful nation in the world? No offense to the Governor but this one seriously needs explanation. The rationale escapes many on this one.Time for comic relief:go to the NBC site and check out the SNL Palin/Couric interview video. Good comedy is good comedy. Chill factor.
Thanks Nancy. Your little political stunt aimed at holding control of the House in Nov cost EXACTLY 1,300,000,000,000 bucks. That's a stack of dollar bills that would reach into space. Way to go.
What's he doing giving his opinions out on issues that impact law abiding Americans ?
Rove and McCain should both be in prison for various reasons
McCain's other bailout scam came to be known as the Keating Five Scandal.
Charles Keating paid about $1.3million to various US Senators including Senator John McCain to help him resist regulators intent on protecting the people whose money Keating was embezzling
The regulators backed off to disastrous consequences
Do we really care WHAT Rove has to say about anything? The people that voted NO voted NO because it's a ludicrous bailout that benefits the super elite, super rich! This is where WE as the public must draw the line - NO BAILOUT. And this obviously is not over. They are still pushing for this ridiculous bailout.
I listened to the entire house debate and I can assure everyone that the congresspeople who voted no did not do so because of partisan nonsense. They voted no because the bill is unconstitutional, anti-capitalist, and immoral.
Rove belittles his own party members for voting no instead of standing up for them and supporting their courage to vote their conscious.
I heard this more as Rove's explanation of why it didn't pass since there are enough Democrats in the house to pass it without Republican votes. My own Democratic congressman voted against it.I couldn't figure out why since Pelosi and Frank supposedly engineered the bill. Now I understand why he bucked his own leadership. Politics. If some of the Republicans hadn't recoiled at the last minute, it would have passed and the Democrats who didn't vote for it could have used it as a campaign issue.
Yeah, right, blame the democrats? More Rove bullshit! What happened to McCain leading the republicans on the bill. It was a republican president who wrote the bill! What a bunch of bullshit!
this country is based on capitalism not socialism. the fact of the matter is that those people shouldn't have gotten loans from the get go. you buy a house when you can afford one...you lose it if you can't. It is NOT the place of the government to buy peoples houses for them.
HERE'S WHY THERE WAS A RUSH TO PASS THIS BAIL OUT THIS WEEK!
Tuesday is the deadline for hedge fund redemptions for the quarter. The outlook could be grim in the wake of current market movements. As credit is tight, hedge funds may sell of stocks to return money to investors. (Forbes)
Isn't sad that this information doesn't get out to the masses? This congress is a profound failure on so many fronts. The President's ratings may be low, but they look stellar compared to this tax funded circus.
bottom line: A LOT of people lost much of their 401k and pension fund money.forget about selling your house now or buying a car, getting more credit to help your already dying business...so what is superhero McCain's next proclamation of a rescue? First attempt made him fall flat on his face.surprise surprise, Obama is to blame?? Best defense is a good quick attack, eh? Moreover, anyone who would insult voters' intelligence by his choice of VP spells danger for this great country...
The is a fundamental difference between LOST and Depreciation. If you fail to understand this, then you should keep your money in a tin can and stay on your welfare dole.
Anytime Rove, Limbaugh, Gramm or any of the other Bush/Hitler mob tells the American public to do something, you can bet your 401 that it is going to screw the public so they can gain more power, control, and of course, your money...What these guys really want is the money and to not be held responsible (like going to jail) for anything...Do as we say, not as we do...Bail us out (hurry, we are running out of time to screw over a few more Americans)and shut up about it...
I knew that because Frank, Dodd & Pelosi's hands were deep in this that the bill was beyond awful. THANK GOD for those who voted against it! And thank you, Karl, for clearly explaining the Democratic leadership's super shady behavior, proving AGAIN that they don't give a crap about the welfare of Americans. "Poison Pelosi" has bigtime nerve to question anyone's patriotism. ATTENTION VOTERS: For the sake of the USA, please STOP sending these liberal losers to Washington-They will hurt us all!!
Point one: The whole mess proves you can't mix socialism and capitalism in one economy. Forcing Banks to be charitable to those that are able to afford a house is socialism. Business should be business and charity, charity.
Point two: Until the Democrats admit their fault with Fannie and Freddie and stop blaiming the Republicans and Bush for everything, we can not fix this. Fat chance!! At least McCain admits the Republicans went on a spending spree. What have the Democrats admitted to?
I wosh you could have seen the press conference I saw yesterday. Jeb Hensarling (TX), Scott Garrett (NJ), Steve King (IA), Trent Franks (AZ) and Marsha Blackburn (TN) all spoke yesterday and they had a lot of good positive things to say about slowing down and doing this right.
It reminded me of the movie "It's A Wonderful Life", where old man Potter is buying in the midst of the panic and getting rich of peoples fears.
we are being played with all these Politricks...the bottom line is the masses are always the ones getting screwed while these guys trying to salvage there political careers...at this point does anyone know the "the correct way" out of this mess? as usual, some are saying we can't move forward without this bill and others say its not that bad...What are the masses to believe?
This mess did not happen over night, and it does not need to be resolved over night.
We need to pass "GOOD" legislation, not "Quick" bandaid fixes. Private funds can be used. The taxpayer does not have to buy this whole burden. If we take our time and do it right, we will not be sorry later.
Scare tactics are being used to frighten people into making bad decisions. Slow down and do it right.
I agree with that, however at the end of the day, after all the necessary and satisfactory time has been taken, you will still have division in the two camps and we the people will never actually know what is "GOOD" legislation after both camps put there spin on it. There certain members who happen to be up for re election who are basing there decision on there electability in the future, and not what is necessarily the right thing by the people. This is how we get into these situations over&over
dria:"we the people will never actually know what is GOOD"
I do. If we can get private money to pay, then it is less burden on tax payers. Housing is overly inflated and the goal here is not to lose value on over inflated homes. WHY?
If all housing drops in value, it will come back to some sense of normalcy...God forbid we have that...
Is Rove giving this statement from prison or from his secret hideout?
Rove and McCain should both be in prison for various reasons
McCain's other bailout scam came to be known as the Keating Five Scandal
Charles Keating paid about $1.3million to various US Senators including Senator John McCain to help him resist regulators intent on protecting the people whose money Keating was embezzling

Boy oh wow, I AM SO GLAD that Jeff Rense has a website where so many great articles by different people explain all this stuff. The new essay by Benjamin Fulford says AMERICA, THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY. THROW OUT THE CRIMINALS, and start a new, better society!
Nazi Pelosi and the rest of the Demonrats are responsible for the mortgage meltdown which led to the rest of the credit crunch and overall economic implosion we're now witnessing, and these bastards now use America's woes for their own political advantage! Did you hear Pelosi's disgusting and oh-so-predictable Bush-bashing yesterday before voting for the bill!? This bitch is playing politics while America is burning!
Liberals always put America second... always and in every situation!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What a complete loser. This was a Republican proposal. It was either going to be bipartisan or not. The Democrats voted for the Republican proposal and the Republicans shot it down. The Americans see the numbers. The vote is public.
60% of the Democrats voted yes...66% of the Rupublicans voted no...the republicans killed it and killed my retirement and a whole lot of other's as well.....I am main street and without this bill I am screwed!!! Obama 08 for the change we need from this crazy "party first" (on both sides)approach!!!!
They CANNOT stop a determined Democrat bill from passage!
"...Republicans took my mortgage...." God, What a worm!
Community Organizers like Obama and Rev. Wright caused this problem by forcing banks to give loans to unqualified browns and blacks through anti-white, anti-American groups like ACORN.
yfro:"I am main street and without this bill I am screwed!"
If this would have passed, you would be screwed. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) was on CSPAN yesterday and made a LOT of sense. There is a lot of private capital out there to be used to fix this. WE the tax payer do NOT have to fund this 100%. Hensarling asked for a "Workout", not a bailout. I agree. Why should WE be paying for some peoples bad behavior? Do not get sucked into the idea that YOU have to pay for this forever.
Once again Pelosi and Franks let their own people off the hook. Secondly please research who obstucted and denied the reports from the regulators saying this would happen if Congress wouldn't put the breaks on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It Was Dodd, Barney Franks and Maxine Waters among others. If you want to be mad about this at least be mad at the perpetrators which are the Democrats.
sure, republican deregulation & lack of oversight had NOTHING to do with this "crisis". why is it that bush is not held accountable for what happens under his watch? whatever happened to "the buck stops here" re the white house. the g.o.p. had a majority most of bush's presidency, spent more than every previous administration COMBINED, and failed to act to prevent this disaster when they could. but you're saying the administration's not at fault? that would be funny if it weren't so sad.
George W. Bush started trying to reform Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in 2001. There were hearings in 2005 and 2007. Every single time the DEMOCRATS refused to reform them because all the Democrats went there after they left Congress. The top three recipients of Donations from FM/FM were Dem. Christoper DODD, Dem. Barack OBAMA and Dem. John KERRY.
The intitial bill causing the downfall was passed under Bill Clinton!
the idea of bush reforming anything is hilarious. two weeks ago he said the economy was "sound" (and so did john mccsame). you'd never have guessed he was gonna spring this on us -- and so close to the election (an early oct surprise?). once again: right-wingers entirely excuse bush from any responsibility for what's going on under his "leadership" .
sure, and g.o.p. deregulation had NOTHING to do with it. they were the majority most of bush's presidency, spent more than every previous administration COMBINED, and did nothing to prevent this disaster. is bush just never responsible for what happens under his watch? isn't he supposed to be in charge?
James A. Johnson--the man chosen by Sen. Barack Obama to lead his vice presidential search committee---served as head of the Federal National Mortgage Association, or ''Fannie Mae,'' from 1991 to 1998, receiving a reported $21 million in compensation upon his departure. As CEO of Fannie Mae, Johnson set a goal of buying up $1 trillion in low-income mortgage loans, a move that eventually helped trigger what would become the sub-prime mortgage crisis.
in the end, isn't the president responsible? or do you really think bushco is blameless in this matter? how about treasury secretary paulson's connection to goldman sachs, etc? or the fact the g.o.p. spent all the people's money well into the next generation & have generally failed in or abrogated their duties during the bush reign.
Paulson is a Democrat. So is Gov. Corzine both worked at Goldman Sachs. If you think they are corrupt talk to Clinton or Obama. Bush appointed Paulson because he was respected by the Democrats. You don't know much about the situation or the facts. To base your arguments on feelings and not facts makes them weak and unpersuasive.
listen, i'm through with the idea there's any real difference between the "big 2" parties, and i'm not under the illusion the dems are not involved & partially to blame. but again i ask: why is it that bush (who's supposed to be the boss) is responsible for nothing? it's absurd for him to constantly be excused from responsibility -- especially when he's lied all along about the economy (or was he merely talking out both sides of his mouth?).
nonsense -- almost everything he says is a lie. he's lied about the economy as surely as the g.o.p. has spent every dime of the people's money (our children & grandchildren will pay his debt). this "crisis" has been going on some time without a word of caution re spending, regulation, etc, from the white house. and s-chip was "irresponsible" spending? PLEASE!
no need to get snippy. bush had a g.o.p. majority most of his 2 terms -- they determined policy in the legislature because of that majority. the spending bills were theirs, and bush didn't veto a single spending bill his first term (and few in the 2nd). they spent more than every previous administration COMBINED. so, yeah -- i do think as
5ken:"bush had a g.o.p. majority most of his 2 terms"
A small majority does not always get you what you want.
You can try to blame one man for everything or you can try to figure out a good way to fix this, and not make the tax payer responsible for the stupidity that has gone on in BOTH parties. You seem to be about placing blame on one side. What purpose that serves is anyones guess.
i don't have any faith in the dems, either. but don't you remember the "nuclear option", etc? they were almost shut out of government entirely as the repubs pushed through their legislation. but, hey, i'm with you: the dems are accountable, too (they rolled over for bush & sat with their mouths shut & their hands out). personally, i don't see this ending well no matter who's at the helm.
I guess you think we do not know a Democratic suck up when we see one. You came in here on full "Bush-Bash". It kinda blows your deceptive stealth status "Mr. Secret Covert Operative".
another ridiculous comment & personal insult that is WAY off the mark & has nothing to do with the debate. there is NO WAY i can vote for obama --- and the bailout is only one reason why. so am i to assume you're some g.o.p. hack because you don't think the president of the united states shouldn't be accountable for anything?
The reason I personally refrain from "Blaming Bush" for this as you seem hell bent to do, is that I know as President he has absolutely no power over the economy. Clinton has been credited with a good economy he had nothing to do with and he claimed it great as he was leaving office but was actually in recession.. Will he ever be held responsible?
a recession that still left us with a surplus and not on the brink of economic collapse, as this president has done. you think the g.o.p.'s policies & spending had NOTHING to do with this "crisis". hell, they've practically been throwing money from airplanes! even their boy mccain talks of
"losing the faith of the people" and of washington
"changing" republicans. and now, bush can't even lead his own party because even republicans can't swallow any more of his "solutions".
5ken:"a recession that still left us with a surplus"
You Do know that the magic "surpluses" were only projections...right?
Oh wow...you really did not know that. That sucks to be that ignorant.
PROJECTIONS...if the world were a magic place and the Clinton era economy did not change, and all of the normal economic cyclic forces were suspended, then we would have seen a "Surplus" in 20 years...but that is not reality. That is Government accounting.
they weren't merely "projected" when the repubs took credit for their part in a healthy economy. fools like you don't seem to understand the difference between the economy then & the mess we're in now. you seem to think we can print money endlessly to solve our problems, and
that u.s. presidents bear no responsibility re the economy (unless, it seems, they're dems). but then, you are the
same type of fool who believed his daddy when he bailed out the savings & loans (another bush heist).
you are truly an idiot if you think you can compare 2000's economy to that of today. and it's very convenient of you to ignore the fact w. didn't veto any spending bills (not while his party was in power, that is). it's a matter of public record, jackass.
5ken:"you are truly an idiot if you think you can compare 2000's economy to that of today"
I am not making the comparison, you are...remember that when you call someone else an idiot for making the comparison.
I said Presidents have no power over an economy, and projected surpluses are not real. That is 100% true. You can try to twist it into anything you want, but the ignorance is yours.
you're making a comparison if you dismiss clinton surpluses as "merely projected" ( would have been actual dollars until the repubs went on a spending spree) while giving bush a free ride on the economy. but you really are a fool if you believe bush had "no power" over the economy when he failed to veto spending -- aside from defense, the
economy is the president's main concern -- even though
congress is responsible for legislation. what do you think most laws entail?
5ken:"you're making a comparison if you dismiss clinton surpluses as "merely projected"
No...I am telling the truth about a deceptive practice of projecting future economics.
Economy is NOT the Presidents main concern. Presidents appoint judges and cabinet member, deploy troops in a limited capacity, and veto or sign laws that pass Congress. That is all they do.
They have no power...no power...the word is POWER...which they have none of, over an economy.
(cont)Presidents do not spend money. They do not change interest rates, but even if they did, the economy is 70% consunmer confidence. If YOU and I spend money, the economy is good. If not, it is bad. Presidents can ask Congress to give us money back (Like Bush did), but they do not have to do that. This is nt "POWER" over an economy...it is a basic influence that may or may not work if we spend or do not spend.
i agree with you re deceptive accounting practices in government. i know clinton surpluses weren't some "shangri-la" - just as i know bush & co fudge their numbers quite a bit. but presidents DO have a great deal of power over the economy -- much of the laws enacted by an the executive have to do with the distribution of wealth. the president also sets certain agendas with his party, asks for legislation (like bush tax cuts or "reaganomics"), and has veto power when he's not in agreement.
5ken:"presidents DO have a great deal of power over the economy"
Again, INFLUENCE is not POWER. They can make all the changes they want, but if you and I do not spend, the economy stays in the gutter.
Did you ever take a micro or macro economics class? If you did, you would know that 70% of the economy is consumer confidence. Almost 3/4 of the whole situation is out of the Government's hands.
Congress just spent $700 billion dollars, and the Dow took another dump. That is power?
weeda: wow, this dialogue is getting lengthy -- i'm about to sit down for a "virtual coffee" or something to discuss this with you further. anyway, i know what you're saying, but i think we're talking about a nominal difference when a president has enough "influence" to move $700 billion. but yeah, even the government can do only SO much re the economy -- people will buy & sell as long as there are goods & services & capital, and the president has little to do with that.
5ken:"i think we're talking about a nominal difference when a president has enough "influence" to move $700 billion"
Yeah so much influence, that they said no the first time. If congress did not want this to pass, it wouldn't have, no matter what George said.
We get fooled by terms we do not understand and promises they can't keep. People buy into the idea that a President has all this power, but they really don't, and the congress gets away with just about anything.
It's not a matter of whether Bush handled our economy better than Clinton, or vise-versa.
The truth is that our entire monentary system is flawed. Neither president attempted to fix what is wrong and only put band-aid after band-aid on a wound that was in need of a tourniquet.
If you subscribe to the idea that Bush or Clinton are soley to blame, you're are ill-informed.
Very, VERY true... However, It was during the Clinton administration that today's current situation was catalyzed through the Community Reinvestment Act, which forced lenders to give loans to underqualified people.
I personally, place a weighty ton of responsibility on the people who are supposed to be keeping these things from happen: Paulson, the Secretary of the Treasury and Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve. It's no wonder that they're the ones who introduced this bill....
yes, lets pass the buck. And it was Bush Sr. who also set the catalyst. And before Bush Sr. it was Reagan. Lets not blame those from the past, but those from the present. Lets not go through the butterfly effect.
Listen, I'm sure you are a kid. It's an educated guess that you don't have a job, your stillin school and have never paid a thing out of your own pocket. Do yourself a favor and read something besides Daily Kos.
And if you're mad at your dad take it out on him, not GWB Plus since you seem so interested in economics you should choose that for your major.
that's a ridiculous comment that has nothing to do with my position in this debate. your comment is a cowardly personal attack that does not address my point of republicans having controlled the legislature most of the last 8 years, or the fact that "the buck" should stop with the president (where is accountability?). tell you what: why
don't you pick up a NEWSPAPER -- this "crisis" has been predicted for years & bushco did nothing but exacerbate the situation.
Everything is a crisis. The gloabl temperature is a "crisis". Gasoline is a "crisis". Healthcare is a "crisis". Harry Truman campaigned on it 70 years ago, and all the sudden, it is anopther freaking "crisis".
I am so sick of people saying the sky is falling, and not looking at the huge problems on the horizon that we really should be concerned with.
but it's bush who's saying "the sky is falling". we DO have serious problems --- one of them is the current administration. what exactly have they gotten right in 8 years? and we're supposed to trust them now? they seem to think printing more money is always the answer.
It is no different than the comments you are making about Bus. The ad Hominum abusive argument is the last resort. You just proved my point. By the way I've been reading the newspaper and they have left out a lot of details about Raines, Mudd and Johnson who are under investigation from fraud. They never seem too interested in Democrat corruption. Bush's term is ending. The "surplus" would have evaporated under a Democrat in a New York minute.

I'm no economist, but why doesn't Congress just give Americans the $70 billion? Well, not directly, but pay off the loans and debts and mortgages in danger of forclosure of Americans? Banks get their money, Americans get out of debt and it opens up their ability to spend again and boost our economy. What am I missing?
disizdalife 3 years ago
It doesn't allow the Banks to gain the interest from the loans to "pay back" the gov't

Why should responsible Americans pay for idiotic ones that lived beyond their means? Why should I buy everyone else a house but me?
imrational 3 years ago 2
I don't understand your question. How would responsible Americans be paying for idiotic ones with what I have suggested? I guess I can see how you'd make that argument but the truth is, with the current proposal, Americans will be paying regardless. I'd rather have my taxes raised but have my debts and mortgages paid off then to have my taxes raised and have greedy bankers and investors get all the money. The lesser of two evils.
disizdalife 3 years ago
disizdalife,
Biden in the VP Debate mentioned that they might be giving money to homeowners to pay off their mortgages. That is basically taking money out of my pocket and paying other people for their bad decisions.
imrational 3 years ago 2
1st of all, don't believe everything u hear in a debate. But there's no doubt that this financial bailout plan will be coming out of our pockets. Period. Whether it goes to homeowners to pay off their mortgages or whether it goes directly to banks here and overseas and to money hungry corporatations that sold this terrible loans in the 1st place. WE WILL BE PAYING FOR THIS. I would just rather see the $ go to help average Joe than to go to Corporate America Wall Street Junkies to feed the greed.
disizdalife 3 years ago
disizdalife,
If a candidate tells you that they will do "x" they are either speaking the truth or they are a liar. Is Biden a liar? No? Then he is taking my money to buy irresponsible people homes... I didn't buy a home because I realized that it was irresponsible, now I am going to be punished.
I know we will be paying for this. I would rather pay for it of my own decision rather than have the government take it from me by force.
FREEDOM was shot today.
imrational 3 years ago
mrat:"I didn't buy a home because I realized that it was irresponsible"
The worse part is that the housing market was overly inflated, and the main push behind the $700 billion was to keep people from losing value in their homes. WHY? Let the housing come back to affordability. So you lose some value for a while...it will come back.
This bailout was the most insane thing they could have done. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) said we needed a workout, not a bailout, using private money. He voted no.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
mrat:"Biden in the VP Debate mentioned that they might be giving money to homeowners to pay off their mortgages"
You did not mention the more dangerous Biden mention during he debate: He wants to give judges the power to change the principle of the mortgage. Let's try to comprehend this for a moment. If I paid $400K for a house, a judge can say, you now only owe $200K. They want to let judges can decide what you owe.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
and not all those who r facing foreclosure r idiotic Americans that lived beyond their means.

WeedaPeople 3 years ago
I agree with that, however at the end of the day, after all the necessary and satisfactory time has been taken, you will still have division in the two camps and we the people will never actually know what is "GOOD" legislation after both camps put there spin on it. There certain members who happen to be up for re election who are basing there decision on there electability in the future, and not what is necessarily the right thing by the people. This is how we get into these situations over&over
24Adrian24 3 years ago
dria:"we the people will never actually know what is GOOD"
I do. If we can get private money to pay, then it is less burden on tax payers. Housing is overly inflated and the goal here is not to lose value on over inflated homes. WHY?
If all housing drops in value, it will come back to some sense of normalcy...God forbid we have that...
Sheesh.

sure, republican deregulation & lack of oversight had NOTHING to do with this "crisis". why is it that bush is not held accountable for what happens under his watch? whatever happened to "the buck stops here" re the white house. the g.o.p. had a majority most of bush's presidency, spent more than every previous administration COMBINED, and failed to act to prevent this disaster when they could. but you're saying the administration's not at fault? that would be funny if it weren't so sad.

5ken7 3 years ago

5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"he's lied all along about the economy"
He has not "lied" about the economy. He was trying to keep confidence up...because that IS 70% of the economy...consumer confidence.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
nonsense -- almost everything he says is a lie. he's lied about the economy as surely as the g.o.p. has spent every dime of the people's money (our children & grandchildren will pay his debt). this "crisis" has been going on some time without a word of caution re spending, regulation, etc, from the white house. and s-chip was "irresponsible" spending? PLEASE!
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"he's lied about the economy as surely as the g.o.p. has spent every dime of the people's money"
The GOP has not been in charge of spending...Democrats have.
The President does not spend money. He does not have that power.
Do you have ANY idea how the Government works? Ever read the Constitution?
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
no need to get snippy. bush had a g.o.p. majority most of his 2 terms -- they determined policy in the legislature because of that majority. the spending bills were theirs, and bush didn't veto a single spending bill his first term (and few in the 2nd). they spent more than every previous administration COMBINED. so, yeah -- i do think as
PRESIDENT bush bears some blame.
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"bush had a g.o.p. majority most of his 2 terms"
A small majority does not always get you what you want.
You can try to blame one man for everything or you can try to figure out a good way to fix this, and not make the tax payer responsible for the stupidity that has gone on in BOTH parties. You seem to be about placing blame on one side. What purpose that serves is anyones guess.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
i don't have any faith in the dems, either. but don't you remember the "nuclear option", etc? they were almost shut out of government entirely as the repubs pushed through their legislation. but, hey, i'm with you: the dems are accountable, too (they rolled over for bush & sat with their mouths shut & their hands out). personally, i don't see this ending well no matter who's at the helm.
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"I don't have any faith in the dems, either"
Sha..right..as if...
I guess you think we do not know a Democratic suck up when we see one. You came in here on full "Bush-Bash". It kinda blows your deceptive stealth status "Mr. Secret Covert Operative".
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
another ridiculous comment & personal insult that is WAY off the mark & has nothing to do with the debate. there is NO WAY i can vote for obama --- and the bailout is only one reason why. so am i to assume you're some g.o.p. hack because you don't think the president of the united states shouldn't be accountable for anything?
5ken7 3 years ago 2
The reason I personally refrain from "Blaming Bush" for this as you seem hell bent to do, is that I know as President he has absolutely no power over the economy. Clinton has been credited with a good economy he had nothing to do with and he claimed it great as he was leaving office but was actually in recession.. Will he ever be held responsible?
kalamere 3 years ago
a recession that still left us with a surplus and not on the brink of economic collapse, as this president has done. you think the g.o.p.'s policies & spending had NOTHING to do with this "crisis". hell, they've practically been throwing money from airplanes! even their boy mccain talks of
"losing the faith of the people" and of washington
"changing" republicans. and now, bush can't even lead his own party because even republicans can't swallow any more of his "solutions".
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"a recession that still left us with a surplus"
You Do know that the magic "surpluses" were only projections...right?
Oh wow...you really did not know that. That sucks to be that ignorant.
PROJECTIONS...if the world were a magic place and the Clinton era economy did not change, and all of the normal economic cyclic forces were suspended, then we would have seen a "Surplus" in 20 years...but that is not reality. That is Government accounting.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
they weren't merely "projected" when the repubs took credit for their part in a healthy economy. fools like you don't seem to understand the difference between the economy then & the mess we're in now. you seem to think we can print money endlessly to solve our problems, and
that u.s. presidents bear no responsibility re the economy (unless, it seems, they're dems). but then, you are the
same type of fool who believed his daddy when he bailed out the savings & loans (another bush heist).
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"they weren't merely projected"
Your ignorance is astounding. Government accounting is not anything like real accounting.
Presidents do not have powers over an economy. Read the constitution sometime. Learn about Presidential powers before you say anything else.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
you are truly an idiot if you think you can compare 2000's economy to that of today. and it's very convenient of you to ignore the fact w. didn't veto any spending bills (not while his party was in power, that is). it's a matter of public record, jackass.
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"you are truly an idiot if you think you can compare 2000's economy to that of today"
I am not making the comparison, you are...remember that when you call someone else an idiot for making the comparison.
I said Presidents have no power over an economy, and projected surpluses are not real. That is 100% true. You can try to twist it into anything you want, but the ignorance is yours.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
you're making a comparison if you dismiss clinton surpluses as "merely projected" ( would have been actual dollars until the repubs went on a spending spree) while giving bush a free ride on the economy. but you really are a fool if you believe bush had "no power" over the economy when he failed to veto spending -- aside from defense, the
economy is the president's main concern -- even though
congress is responsible for legislation. what do you think most laws entail?
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"you're making a comparison if you dismiss clinton surpluses as "merely projected"
No...I am telling the truth about a deceptive practice of projecting future economics.
Economy is NOT the Presidents main concern. Presidents appoint judges and cabinet member, deploy troops in a limited capacity, and veto or sign laws that pass Congress. That is all they do.
They have no power...no power...the word is POWER...which they have none of, over an economy.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
(cont)Presidents do not spend money. They do not change interest rates, but even if they did, the economy is 70% consunmer confidence. If YOU and I spend money, the economy is good. If not, it is bad. Presidents can ask Congress to give us money back (Like Bush did), but they do not have to do that. This is nt "POWER" over an economy...it is a basic influence that may or may not work if we spend or do not spend.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
i agree with you re deceptive accounting practices in government. i know clinton surpluses weren't some "shangri-la" - just as i know bush & co fudge their numbers quite a bit. but presidents DO have a great deal of power over the economy -- much of the laws enacted by an the executive have to do with the distribution of wealth. the president also sets certain agendas with his party, asks for legislation (like bush tax cuts or "reaganomics"), and has veto power when he's not in agreement.
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"presidents DO have a great deal of power over the economy"
Again, INFLUENCE is not POWER. They can make all the changes they want, but if you and I do not spend, the economy stays in the gutter.
Did you ever take a micro or macro economics class? If you did, you would know that 70% of the economy is consumer confidence. Almost 3/4 of the whole situation is out of the Government's hands.
Congress just spent $700 billion dollars, and the Dow took another dump. That is power?
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
weeda: wow, this dialogue is getting lengthy -- i'm about to sit down for a "virtual coffee" or something to discuss this with you further. anyway, i know what you're saying, but i think we're talking about a nominal difference when a president has enough "influence" to move $700 billion. but yeah, even the government can do only SO much re the economy -- people will buy & sell as long as there are goods & services & capital, and the president has little to do with that.
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:"i think we're talking about a nominal difference when a president has enough "influence" to move $700 billion"
Yeah so much influence, that they said no the first time. If congress did not want this to pass, it wouldn't have, no matter what George said.
We get fooled by terms we do not understand and promises they can't keep. People buy into the idea that a President has all this power, but they really don't, and the congress gets away with just about anything.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
It's not a matter of whether Bush handled our economy better than Clinton, or vise-versa.
The truth is that our entire monentary system is flawed. Neither president attempted to fix what is wrong and only put band-aid after band-aid on a wound that was in need of a tourniquet.
If you subscribe to the idea that Bush or Clinton are soley to blame, you're are ill-informed.

Amen to that.

Fuchsia 3 years ago
yes, lets pass the buck. And it was Bush Sr. who also set the catalyst. And before Bush Sr. it was Reagan. Lets not blame those from the past, but those from the present. Lets not go through the butterfly effect.

K, sarcasm was unecessary, but I was simply citing a very relevant and specific source of bad mortgages.

Listen, I'm sure you are a kid. It's an educated guess that you don't have a job, your stillin school and have never paid a thing out of your own pocket. Do yourself a favor and read something besides Daily Kos.
And if you're mad at your dad take it out on him, not GWB Plus since you seem so interested in economics you should choose that for your major.
kalamere 3 years ago
that's a ridiculous comment that has nothing to do with my position in this debate. your comment is a cowardly personal attack that does not address my point of republicans having controlled the legislature most of the last 8 years, or the fact that "the buck" should stop with the president (where is accountability?). tell you what: why
don't you pick up a NEWSPAPER -- this "crisis" has been predicted for years & bushco did nothing but exacerbate the situation.
5ken7 3 years ago
5ken:""crisis" has been predicted for years"
Everything is a crisis.
WeedaPeople 3 years ago
but it's bush who's saying "the sky is falling". we DO have serious problems --- one of them is the current administration. what exactly have they gotten right in 8 years? and we're supposed to trust them now? they seem to think printing more money is always the answer.
5ken7 3 years ago
It is no different than the comments you are making about Bus. The ad Hominum abusive argument is the last resort. You just proved my point. By the way I've been reading the newspaper and they have left out a lot of details about Raines, Mudd and Johnson who are under investigation from fraud. They never seem too interested in Democrat corruption. Bush's term is ending. The "surplus" would have evaporated under a Democrat in a New York minute.
