Start in the middle, with the egg and stirr until the batter is really thick. Add a small splash of milk and stirr, taking along a LITTLE bit of flower. Stirr until it thickens. Add some milk again and stirr..etc....
NEVER start mixing all of the flower at once. It's really easy to make a smooth batter.
I just made it and i substituted the butter pan lubricant for sun flower oil and the pancakes came out to oily and i just carried on till the last one when i said fuck it lets just try one without any lubricant and fuck me it was perfect :)
People hating on a Americans :) personally I don't put sugar in my batter the syrup is all I needfor the sugar n I use water instead of milk :/ so not all Americans eat like this -.-
I know this video has a lot of hate comments, but I made them earlier today and they were brilliant! It was the first time I had made American pancakes and it was really easy, and my family loved 'em! Off to back more mixture for my breakfast tomorrow, bye! X
I like bisquick pancake batter. Most Americans don't make them from scratch. We use premade pancake flour and mix in water, sometimes we add an egg into the mix. Bisquick and Krusty's is the best batter of pancakes. It's gross he adds in butter into the mix, *vomit* We don't do that. It must be some European thing since you guys also put butter on your sandwiches as a condiment.
@araya1 I don't know I would maybe say about half use the mix. i know alot of people who make them from scratch. I recently started using the mix because my kids are small. When they get older i will start making it from scratch again.
@Spongink - There isn't that much fat in the pancake. The only oil he used was the butter in the pan. It is rather high in simple carb. Carbs makes you fat. Fat does not make you fat. It is proven that fat causes one to lose weight. Fat (saturated) only stops your heart =O
@shivermealpacas Have you seen other kinds of pancakes from other countries?? Im from east EU (Hu) and the 'pancakes' there are like 2 millimeters thick, you can put some kind of jam, chocolate mix, cottage cheese mixed with sugar, or anything else in it, roll it up and eat. The American is alot bigger and you eat it with maple syrup (worlds best pancakes = real pancakes = American pancakes) You can check 'Pancake' in wikipedia, and youll see all the kinds there is
THIS RECIPE IS FUCKING SHIT. I used the exact amount of ingredients that were shown and the batter was stiff like cement. Then I poured in even more milk, made the pancakes only to find out they taste like a slightly sweet and salty LOAF OF BREAD.
This is a really weird recipe. If you want one I know doesn't go wrong ever:
(for 5 thin pancakes)
1 cup flour + pinch of salt
1 egg
1 cup milk
(whisk until smooth and bubbly. Yes bubbly.)
Melt 2-3 tbsp of butter in pan and beat in. You don't necessarily have to do that, it's just it helps the pancakes from sticking to the pan and frankly, adds a little more flavour.
@hipretty hmm...maybe its because with this modern way of life, eatin' on the go, it seems we prefer breakfast cereal and pop tarts, which can get pretty drab after awhile, nothin' like some warm pancakes or waffles! = )
do you all not think pancakes for breakfast is some what increasing your chances of having a heart attack? i like the fact that the table spoon of butter was actually the size of a breeze block lol it does look nice but possibly for a dessert?
Hm... as much as I LOVE pancakes and this tutorial... I'm a bit worried about how many pounds people are gonna gain after eating this... I think Americans need to start learning how to make healthy and delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods...
@NvousOfNO1 in England, Canada, new zealand, Ireland and Australia there is its called shrove Tuesday. in America they call it mardi gras and fat Tuesday lol
they look an awful lot like a traditional dutch type of pancakes called drie-in-de-pan. it's basicly just baking 3 in the same pan and they taste way better then these
Mmm. I'm American and we are always trying to cook meals from other countries, convinced they're so much better than American dishes. It makes me smile knowing that not everything about our culture is revolting to the world. Pancakes are always a comforting supper when there's not much to choose from in the fridge.
Oh, and I'm not overweight. Just thought I'd throw that out there!
@ashaley24 Ahaha yep, I also don't recall most people eating their pancakes with strawberries or blueberries either, they traditionally come plain with butter in the center and syrup on the side, I'm from New York State btw.
@blahmehblah1 First of all shes a girl, you twat. Second I found two answers when I looked for who invented pancakes, one was the Dutch, the other was the Ancient Romans, and neither are Brits. But I do realize that every country claims every invention for themself, especially European countries. Im European myself and I would much rather believe that the Dutch invented pancakes than British, cuz their neighbours the Belgians invented waffles, and theyre made similar to pancakes
look artifical... prefer canadian! usa sucks
