@lcHaRiSsEl Yes and No. It's part of "Asturias", but in a different key ("C") than the original ("B") so it's played in the open postion. It's just an exercise from Frederick Noad's book. Thanks.
@cocopopsdc It's part of "Asturias" by Isaac Albeniz, but in open postion and differnt key. It's an exercise from "Solo Guitar Playing" by Frederick Noad. Thanks.
@drag00n06 I'm not sure of the metronome speed but as I remember I practiced/ played along to theFrederick Noad CD that came with the book. Btw, I soon be posting a "Noadish Medley" which will include this song again. I'll give you a heads up. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@RMoogsterama Try to play along to the CD, even though it may seem impossible to keep up at first...just play it over and over (10x a day for 3 weeks, that is a couple hundred times).
That's DISGUSTING! You're playing it entirely WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leyenda Asturias is one of the most beautiful songs of any culture and you dare play it wrong?!?
@thankyoupourlavideo reagrdless of talent or ability or interpretation, the fact that anybody nowadays even picks up an instrument and displays an understanding should be appaluded - just hope you understand that when you think about it and look at the real world .
No offense friend? But you're tempo didn't seem steady through out the whole song. May I suggest (and for many others learning to play this song) determine your tempo by how fast you can do the triplets, and keep that same tempo for the whole song. It works really nice! :)
Also, for others:,practice on this song: work on it by taking your left hand completely out it, work only on your right hand free stroke. This picks up speed and muscle memory so you can focus on the bass notes more.
Your timing slows down considerably when you get to the triplets. You should play the first bit more slowly so that it matches the triplets bit. When you have practised the triplets bit enough, then you can speed the whole thing up. It would sound better if you played the whole thing slowly rather than slowing down on the triplets bit.

HUGE Noad fan here. Thanks for the video. I have one question though...is it proper technique for the thumb to come over the top of the neck like that, or is that your style? NOT nocking it, sounded wounderful man!!!
It's just that I'm on a major "proper technique" trip...I'm def subscribing to you...friends too?
Hmmm my teacher said its not proper technique to have your thumb going over the board. He says it should be aligned with your second finger(the one you play guitar with lol)
I still overlap but hey I was just saying what my teacher said haha
if u play them with a counting of : one and a 2 and a 3 and a..... and so on it might help... cause i tryed going tripelet every beat but it didnt work as well so i hope this helps
this is a cpomlete copy of asturias leyenda originally arranged by andre segovia listen to segovia play it or john williams you will be amazed its way longer though
ok so im trying to learn this song for class right!! but i learn by ear much better... so im watchin ur video and im jus curious... are u counting or something cuz i see ur mouth moving??? i ask cuz im just wondering if it helps u play better!! if not its ok too, its a big help hearing the song thanx!!
Thanks "davidsl222". I love the Noad book. Lately I've been doing a few tunes, (my "Sunday Night at the Classics" video series), from Jason Waldron's "Fingerpicking the Classics". Now with Christmas coming, it's time to get the Christmas book out, but I will be doing more out of the Noad book after the New Year so stay tuned.
Suggestion for your playing, is ALWAYS use a metronome (slow to fast) and play along to the CD that comes with the book (if you have it). Thanks for watching.
excellent job, excellent book choice, my only concern was your posture with holding the guitar. also, you want to be as calm as possible when playing the classical guitar. other than that, great job. (original composer was Albeiniz I think) : )
Yes, I should hold the guitar in a more classical postion, make it more easier on myself. I appreciate your comments. I play an "Asturias-ish" (more Albeniz like) at the beginning of my "Etude Carulli" video, something to check out. Thanks.
gj but this is the short version of the actual asturias, try the correct one written by villa-lobos, its fast and spanish like, but also classical style sounds.:)

Thanks for the comment. Yeah I think a little more practice with a metronome would help things out. (The transition from eighth notes to triplets is a little harder than it looks). Thanks again.
No offense taken. I think I used the correct fingers--right hand "p" and "m", and the 2nd part "p,i,a". I may come back to (re-do) this one anyway. Good luck with your studies.
Sorry it took so long to respond. Thanks for the comment. Yes it is part of "Asturias", but in a different key. This version ("Spanish Study") is presented in the "Noad" book. I recently got the tab of "Asturias" and worked on it a little but it will take more than "a little" work. I do a little "Asturias-ish" intro on my video "Etude Carulli"

Start it slow - practise and the speed it up - takes the right finger placing for the right hand but well worth it :)
