LuV that song Pretty Woman....guys were playing it once LOUD when I was walkin ' down the street......and whistling....I'll never forget that while alive...:)
I have this cd-bx and it is just great! I listen to it every day. I saw Roy also a few times in concert, like for example at august 5 1982 in Austin, also his last concert in Akron New York at december 4 1988, and I even had a little personally meeting with him in Antwerp November 4 1986 in Elisabeth theater where he did also a concert which was in fact his come back and not the black and white show of 1987. In Antwerp he signed for me a few records of him . I never forget that
I remember hearing a version of Roy Orbisons Oh, Pretty Woman on this box set that sounded a lot like his performance at the Diamond Career awards, But i cant find any info on that song anywhere.
@hejhejhejhej287 You don`t know what are you writing about. Roy co-write several his songs, but he allso write may somgs in his own....In Dreams...Falling... here just acouple for examble, do you know these ones??? Still very stupid argument from you!!!
i loved roy orbison.there will never be anyone that can deliver a song like he could. this is a wonderful video. i enjoyed it very much. 100stars. best wishes, margie
Well...I know how to describe his sound...flippin 'brilliant, soul stirring & real....Ohhhh mercy....my heart was breakin'."t voice of a god, oh very yes!!!. My dreams of you....riddler out!
I love Roy Orbison, I love all his songs, my favourite song of his is A Love So Beautiful. It reminds me of how much I feel for my first love and always will his name is Doug from Midland, Ont.
Like the tradition of the ancient banshee, real emotive beauty comes from intense pain and despair, a life deeply lived. He was gifted with craft and delivery so few can ever have.
There will always be that "thing" we can't explain, until we pass through the "gate of god", when the world recognizes and affirms, yes, that is it, music was our messiah, and even those who never understood will cry "praise G-D for music!".
My heart hurts to think he's not around anymore, there's no doubt this man is singing with the angels. I'm grateful he shared his magic during my lifetime.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I didn't know about this, will order it right now, Thanks for the link Mark, and thanks to royorbison for lettind us know about this man and his music
This is an awesome video, wasn't even aware it exhisted..........Mark: Thank you so much for sharing......it's almost like he is still around and I was there at one of his live concertt's..........Geeezzzzz how time slips away, did not realize it has been that many years since he left us. Jo
Just a thought: what would have happened if Phil Specter produced Orbison's records? Probably just as well he didn't--Orbison had more than enough talent on his own--but still, operatic voice, operatic Wall of Sound. .. just once!
I salute Roy's estate. Even though he's been gone over 20 years now, it seems like he hasn't been gone at all. Thanks for keeping Roy alive for a new generation of music fans!
I heard it said once if you grew up in "The Era" you were either an Elvis fan or an Orbison fan. Never really got turned on to Elvis; but Damn, could Roy speak to your heart. He taught me what loss was about before I ever lost anything. And his voice... it went where others only dreamed about.
I wish you where here, ... You will live in our hearts forever. the sound of your voice is like an angel telling me that your still here I love you Roy R I P
All of Roy's talents made him THAT much MORE attractive! I didn't know he was an artist until I saw the postcards in the box set. He's amazing all across the board!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this box set is such a great tribute. It was put together so well, showing the passion that his family has for him. I hope his music lives on forever.
Very well done on this set. I have seen many box sets in my life, and I must say that this one was one of the best. It was put together so well, and I am so glad I purchased it.
For me at age 68, Roy Orbison still stands alone as the premier Rock-and-Roll singer. He just knew how to put emotion into a song so that you really felt it. His voice was perfection. I think he must have influenced the Bee Gees, because I get the same feeling with their music. Check out "Crying" with Roy and k.d. lang. It doesn't get better than that.
I like reading what Fred Foster had to say about the first time he was supposed to meet Roy, and noone had told Roy about the session--he was sleeping in his hotel room! That is funny!
Yeah Marion, there are also some other cool extras included in the Box set.... It really was a great purchase. I bought some as Christmas presents....

I did get the new Box Set - The Soul of Rock and Roll, and it is absolutely awesome!! I love how the CD's take you through a history lesson, teaching you the musical biography of the great, Roy Orbison.

When I was a little kid, I met Roy once...it was a block party in Odessa, TX..
In those days, Roy and the 'Teen Kings' were doing clubs, furniture store openings and a local TV program that was broadcast on KOSA-TV in Odessa.
One of his first big hits --Ooby Dooby --was recorded first at KOSA - TV and is available on a CD consisting of other songs from those broadcasts.
This is rare stuff and excellent.
