Much has been made of the 'diesel engine' controversy, but as I understand it there is no direct evidence to suggest that diesels were ever used at Treblinka; in all likelihood the supposed 'diesels' were in fact petrol engines. Is that correct, or is there documentary proof that they were used?

@MSM4U2POM The engine used at Belzec almost certain came from a Soviet BT tank. As for Treblinka it may have been a French tank engine but it may have been a BT tank engine also. Deputy commandant Karl Frank said that it was a petrol engine when in prison in correspondence with a friend of mine. Only the BT 7M (also called BT8) had a diesel engine - all others had petrol.

Gustav Münzberger, an SS man who worked in the extermination area of the camp, testified after the war:  * "When all the chambers were filled with about 3,000 Jews, the heavy wooden doors were fastened with iron bolts. Now I went through the corridor, opened the door to the engine room, and gave a sign to Schmitz or Zänker to start both diesel engines. The Russian T-34 tank engines were started by three Ukrainians and a Jew."

Kurt Franz in private correspondence whilst in jail with my friend Michael Tregenza indicated that the engine was petrol driven but the fuel used is often confused by people who do not use engines. Gustav Münzberger was certainly in a better position to know as he was directly involved in the killing process.

Absolutely if I had the chance. However I can drive to Treblinka in a couple of hours, I have got no Soviet camps in easy reach. I have however filmed the Lubyanka from a distance.  In 2005 the police caught a friend filming me at the Lubyanka and we had to delete the file from the camera!

I have not been to San Sabba although I talk about it in one of my films from north eastern Italy - this is where most of the Bug murderers ended up including Wirth, Hackenhold, Allers and the rest.

Italian neonacist nearly killed me that day and im 16, they dont like us because we are indigenous people who live in Trieste. It's our land if u take a look at historic facts. Two things wind me up. The first is when people want me to do extra work on these projects or complain about quality without providing me with equipment. The second are the nutters with psychological problems. One was harrassing me yesterday. Now I just delete their comments and block them. Life is too short.

I have not read Richard Glazer's book yet. I think his suicide was very sad. He killed himself when his wife died in 1998.

I'm not anti-semetic or a holocaust denier, but I would like to know why modern archeologists have been unable to find traces of the mass graves, bones fragments, or any wood ashes in the soil at Treblinka. Ground penatrating radar reveiled in 1999 that the soil at Treblinka had never been distrubed at any point after the last ice age. Perhaps the site where people think Treblinka was is incorrect.

Read Vasily Grossmans writings on Treblinka. Vasily was a Russian war corresponent. He was with the Russian Army on their drive to Berlin. He wrote about the piles of personal belongings he came upon when walking though the camp at Treblinka.

I had visited Auschwitz and Buchenwald, from out side it looks like a labor camp. I saw part of a big zoo in Buchwald built especially for the kids of the commandant Karl Otto Koch, The POW did not go there eating ice cream and enjoying themselves. Auschwitz had a hospital, cafeteria used by SS ONLY. Inmate got about 300cal a day(soup& bread).You can survive about 4-6 months.

I was born in Poland and both of my parents who were holocaust survivors who lost 99% of their families. I read lots about the Shoah and saw almost every movie that is available to watch. Very interesting! I am a high school teacher and I teach a unit on the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. I'm showing this to my students as we learn about Treblinka - the final destination for so many of the Warsaw Jews. Those who deny this are as bad as the Nazis themselves. Thanks!

If not, then where did the people go to. Further down the line? The line went an additional 2km to the T1 camp. There is documentary evidence for 713k deportations in 1942 to T2 - even with massive cramming a camp the size of T2 is not going to hold that many people. Evidence that this was a transit stop- none.
