People purchase games for the enjoyment, some people might purchase games for the popularity, but that isn't always the reason. Even though games show blood or guns, doesn't mean that they should only be for people over 17.

Hey my ma's the same way. The funny thing is she the one who got me started playing violent games. She bought me Resident Evil 2 for the nintendo 64. (Showing my age) At that time I was maybe 8 or 9. i've played games worse than that since and like you it never bothered me.
depends really, games like gears of war dont really have much blood and stuff, It has chainsaws but I like that about the game. But games like madworld are just... insane. Thats why I really never got madworld, but I like the addition of chainsaws in some games.
