Great talent, great music! Congrats & thanks to the black community for developing the best of R&B --- I only wish they would bring back their great style & drop the rap crap!
OMG so happy i found this version after listening to like 10 other versions. This one has the most soul, you can hear the full brass ensemble/drums/guitar clearly, plus Sam and Dave give so much more effort on this one (imo). I know this is the version on my CD cuz you can hear when the audio clips on the last verse when they say "when the D-AYY comes", but it sounds so good. I'm let down if i ever hear this song and it is not this perfect version.
this song is so COOL ! - i remember back when we we cruising down the road in my brand new mustang and this song came on - the guy that i was with said "STOP THE CAR" got out & started dancing in the middle of the highway on the center line ! - every time i hear this song i think about how much fun we had back then & about us dancing on the center line in the middle of the highway under a full moon in the middle of the night !
home of the deep dish pizza and the blues .i was raised 3 blocks from the old school maxweel street market on halsted where they filmed the blues brothers miss those pork chop burgers and polish sausages
my best friend and I did a lip sync of this in our 5th grade talent show. That was in 1989. I loved it in The Blues Brothers........."They're on gonna catch us, we're on a misson from God."
@MegaTronn Absolutely, It' amazing how those subtle differences in delivery make all the difference. Listen to the way he pronounces the word "drown" and compare it to the other versions.
@CesMan83 ~ Hold On, I'm Comin' is the 1966 debut album by Atlantic Records soul duo Sam and Dave, issued on the Atlantic-distributed Stax label in 1966. The album reached number one on the Billboard Black Albums chart and number 45 on the Billboard 200, launching three charting singles.
@CesMan83 - @CesMan83 - The title track peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart, and at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Said I Wasn't Gonna Tell Nobody" ranked number eight and number 21 respectively, while "You Don't Know Like I Know" peaked at number seven and number 90. An Allmusic review refers to Hold On, I'm Comin' as epitomizing "Memphis soul in all its unpretentious, down-home glory". - INFO FROM WIKIPEDIA
