  • Get in! A bit of MK in Super 8 ;-)

  • Where do you buy a cassette 8 and how you edited with computer? SORRY MY ENGLISH

  • How did you numerise it ?

(excuse me if my english is bad)

  • sugir ros?

  • wow, this camera makes movies that literally look like memories. so incredibly beautiful.

  • I really really like this! Good job and thanks for sharing it :)

  • you know what would be good music with any video filmed using Super8 ?

    Boards of Canada

  • Post rock /shoegazing goes really great with super 8 . What's the name of the song ? It reminds me of the band red sparrows .

  • your quality is a shit

  • Please check out my new Super 8 film (The Wedding Of Ellie and Adam). I think its significantly better than this one. Thanks!

  • wooo niceeeee super 8 film with explosions music :))))))

  • this is really beautiful

  • that's Milton Keynes! My home town! i've never seen it look so beautiful!

  • what song is it

  • looks great! i love my canon super 8 camera - its the 814, thanks for sharing

  • This music, also used in Life Cycles, gives me the prickles :)

  • it's beautiful.

  • hey dude could i use a few of the clips in this? ill give you credit it'll fit my full length perfect!

    chris

  • damn this is awesome :)

  • where can i buy a super 8 film camera and how much will it cost ?

  • @stalkmeimfam0us Ebay!

  • did you colour correct this? or is just straight up the film?

  • This is absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed the footage slowly evolving from plain test-shots into a story. I'm thinking about buying a Chinon 506SMXL, have you had any experience with it? What year was your Canon made? ... There is something so incredibly surreal about super 8; well articulated here.

  • It's weird to see the modern world shot on Super 8. It's almost like watching the 21st century through the eyes of a time traveler from the 1960's. :P

  • Cabe should really shut his stupid face. I suppose that because this video has a soundtrack, he thinks that the uploader meant this to be a short film.

  • how do you turn film to digital ??

  • YOU GUYS WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT SUPER 8 FILM IS

IT'S OLD FILM USED IN THE 1960'S I'M I THINK

  • Hi

My name is Jéssica and I am junior curator at One Minute Festival Brazil.

We think your video is very interesting. If you submit it to One Minute Festival, you can win cash prizes.

The Festival is now permanent and online. Check out more infos, dealines, and rules in the website minuteplanet, com

If your video is longer than 1 minute, you can edit it to have maximum 63 seconds longer, and then submit it.

We are looking forward to see your video there!

    Best wishes

  • gave me a nostalgic feeling..i loved it...

  • Hey, very nice film. How did you transfer it to a computer??

  • terrible and boring film - but great music - what is it ?

  • I like it. Film is so much better than video.

  • where'd u shoot this?

  • This is easily the best super 8 montage video i have seen on youtube. The music goes along with the film so well. Great video man and keep up the good work

  • Looks so nice. Film just blends colors so nicely without the harshness of digital.

  • @larendor10 It's not meant to be art, it's test footage.

  • @tomrules30 for being test footage it sure looks like art!

  • @larendor10 its youtube dude. chillllllllllll

  • @larendor10 I really like it, maybe a little dark but it's good for what it is.

  • @larendor10 wow, you must be eleventeen to be talking like that. you can film someone taking a shit on super 8 and it would look amazing.

  • @misanthrope013 Fucking pretentious hipster fucks think buying an expensive (or not) camera and taking close ups or stupid fucking everyday footage makes them a photographer, or an artist. IT DOESN'T.

About 99% of you will never get a photography job, and should really be realistic about yourselves.

  • @larendor10 wow, calm the fuck down. who you callin 'hipster'?

ur just dribbling bull diarrhea out ur mouth now. sit down, and shut up.

  • @misanthrope013 Try and spell properly

  • @larendor10 i thought i told you to shut up.

  • Comment removed

  • @misanthrope013 Lol, I am within my rights to express an opinion

  • @larendor10 not when your expressed opinion is moronic. grow up.

  • @misanthrope013 That's your own opinion brah

  • @larendor10

    i think its ok,

    its super 8 you see?

  • @larendor10 fuck your family, fuck your country, fuck your wife but most of all fuck you.

  • @TheRAtboyFilms911 My family are nice, and i'm only 17, so I don't actually have a wife, and England is a pretty good country to be honest

  • @larendor10 one: you come from a long line of down-syndrome fucks long before the condition was even discovered; two: seventeen years old, huh? you've picked a fight with the wrong guy, kid; three: your bubonic plague-infested hellhole of a country is a speck on the face of the planet that should be wiped out.

you've brought this upon yourself by picking this fight in the first place, you nosepicking prick. don't go crying to your mentally-handicapped mother about this.

  • @rmnhn Brought what man?

I'm allowed to express an opinion, and maybe you should understand that before you go apeshit on someone. To be honest, your words are completely hollow, whereas i see some deep-seated insecurities in you.

No wonder you insult people's appearance so much, when you have slit eyes and buck teeth!

  • I remember shooting movies with a super 8 but now I got my production crew so we have some real cameras to film like we're filming Moonrise Kingdom right now

  • This is REALLY cool. Who the hell "disliked" this? I'm not going to be clever with my words, I'm just going to say it: 7 people are complete idiots.

  • Just watched this while listening to Commix - Painted Smile, song is a bit longer than the video but I thought it fitted it really well.

  • Super 8 + Canon = Win.

Where do you get the film developed?

  • what font did you use in the beginning?

  • @DBOWSHIER It was a font I downloaded called 'Irrep.' I think it's the same font that's used for the opening credits in the film 'Breakfast On Pluto.'

  • Very nice 8mm movie .LucasinFilm Brasil .

  • how much did it cost to get it processed? And where was it that you did? also, is this off of a projector or did you get it converted? Would like to know, thanks!

  • How are you transferring the film to video?

  • Hi, I know you posted this a while ago but I was wondering if you could tell me what type of film you used. I like the picture quality. That's what I'm trying to get for my super 8 camera I just bought. Thanks!

  • @dftwatcher I used Ektachrome 64t on this film. They only do Ektachrome 100D now, I'm not sure how much difference there is yet as I haven't got round to shooting a new film with it.

  • HI!

a really beatifull video you've made

I just bought a super 8 camera ( an kohka) and equipment. Super 8 cassettes is easy to find but it's hard for me to find any reel to reel film. where do you buy your reel to reel film?

  • @MrLittleman63 I'm not quite sure what you mean, but the film is in the Super 8 cassette and you just slot it into the camera. Some older 8mm cameras need you to put the film in manually as a reel, but not the super 8.

  • Is something wrong with the camera? It's so out of focus!

  • @slashmaster2 It's very difficult to focus, especially in low light. If you're slightly off with the focus, because of the depth of field it comes out all wrong.

  • Great example of Super 8. I'm a photographer and shoot digital with Pentax systems but these are the kind of things that made me love film and photography as a kid!

  • even though I still prefer digital(easier to use but quality sucks compared to analog)

this looks really cool. It looks like someone shot this 30 years ago!!

  • "explosions in my pants"

  • love the movie and the musik, of what band is the music?

  • That was really well done, cheers mate. I wish I had the mind set to be able to do something like that but I'll still try.

  • beautifuly done absoutly asome very attractive

  • What film stock did you use? K40? 64T?

  • you know whats cool about film? it doesn´t have pixels wich means you shoot in HD or more than that everytime it depends the way you scan it ;)

  • Love the title font. Where did you get it? Love how you matched the music to the beats of the film, and even though the shots were a bit random, there was a hint of story, a very subtle story. The music matching is tops. Congrats on a good first!

  • Great stuff. I just bought a camera. Its an ageus? i think. Idk im lazy i dont want to look.

  • great, like a dream, do more

  • super 8, 8mm and 16mm does look fantastic, but yes, it is very expensive. they make digital video cameras that have the look and feel of super 8 movie cameras. look into the digital harinezumi-- it runs about $180.00 and very worth it or the mattel vidster-- it's a kids digital video camera. made for a 6 year old. i picked one up on amazon for $70. it looks like 16mm film. i highly reccomend these 2 cameras as an alternate option. youtube some sample videos for these cameras. money--saved.

  • Can't beat Super 8. Great work.

  • Es gibt gute Filme und es gibt weniger gute Filme.

  • Explosions in the Sky?

  • may so called "movies" or "films" say that they're art..when in actuality...they are just the same. Alot of movies suck these days, and the only saving grace is the "super eight" films

  • For a test video this is superbly evocative. Thanks for introducing me to a new band too. Similar to Mogwai or Vessels - which is a good thing!

  • man i wish super8(or 16 or 35 for that matter :P) were cheaper.

  • I posted my best super 8 vid

  • Your film came out great on youtube, how did you get that quality. Did you get a professional digital transfer? how did you compress it?

  • @ksmudski I didn't get this film professionally transferred I recorded it with my DV camera using my projector. I do however have quite a good DV camera, a Sony PD150. I compressed it using a program I have on my computer for converting video files to MP3 players. If you go into my movies there is one called "Circles Round You" and that was professionally transferred, it was also uploaded from the original AVI file so apart from what youtube does there is no extra quality loss.

  • @tomrules30 How did you edit your film? Did you physically cut and splice it?

  • My favorite band!

  • Very nice... it's funny how we associate certain looks of film with certain time periods, made me feel like I was in the 70's.

  • Would you tell me please how can I convert a super 8 movie to pc ? Thank you !

  • @Qualcuno1 do a search for tlecine services. I recommend Spectra. 1 cartridge will cost you around $100. bu t the more you buy the less it costs per.

  • whatup with 1:32 and 1:41

    ?

did that just happen by sunlight?

  • @nolliecab That's from where to reel of film has finished and light has got in. I think it looks quite cool and a lot of film-makers try to imitate it with effects, but the real thing always looks the best.

  • @BBrtqB There are no widescreen super 8 cameras but I believe there are a few lenses that can adapt the camera to widescreen, but don't hold me to that. Also you cant use regular tapes in super 8 cameras as they are from a time before tape an used real film... tape effectively killed super 8 as it was cheaper, easier and the turnaround was much faster... but nowhere near as cool.

  • @tomrules30 So what does it use instead of tapes?

  • @tomrules30 @tomrules30 I remember something about Super Duper 8mm or Max 8 sold by pro8mm.

  • @tomrules30 grab an anamorphic adapter, fix it to your super8, then either attach same adapter to the projector, or stretch digitally, either way the results wont be great, but its fun. Get a small format adapter either a 16mm or smaller, the 35 weighs about 4 times the camera!

  • @BBrtqB Theres a format called Super Duper 8 and its widescreen

  • @kokiri987 k

  • @BBrtqB Super 8 uses film, not tapes. I think you may be confusing it with 8mm and Hi8 videotape. Tape won't work in an 8mm film camera. They still make super8 film, but you can't find the old regular 8mm anymore. I beleve you could convert some 8mm film cameras to widescreen by using a technic similar to cinamascop movies. a lens is place over the camera that squeezes the picture and makes everything skinny. a lens on the end of the projector does the opposite.

  • @patrick9648 oh ok thanks, hai really want a super 8 but i don't know where i could get the film... also how do you get it onto your computer? thanks for all the help

  • Really beautifull, and great choice for the music, The Birth And Death Of The Day from Explosion In The Sky, my favorite.

  • Good to see people are keeping the old formats alive.

  • Knew the song right away. had to watch the rest

  • In such an odd way - I feel as if I was there. My heart aches and I don't know why.

  • Amazing (: and good choice of music, suits the film welll

  • I cried when I watched this; reminds me of how much I wanted to grow up in the 60's and 70's. great movie.

  • Nice work, dude. You really captured the distance from reality that super 8 gives. A beautiful and underrated format!

  • I am getting my first Super 8mm Camera and i am in love with it! lol, call me a nerd but yes that was an awesome video! i cant wait to start shooting =)

  • What film stock you use?

  • this is great. I just got my super 8. I can't wit to send it off. Any tips so I don't under or over expose? I heard that can happen.

  • super, j'adore

  • You should be the most amazing person ever and record a green wall for 5 minutes. Then post it so I can key out the green and use it for when I need film grain.

  • ..... this is way to cool for words.....

  • Hey I really liked this film, I'm looking at doing a super 8 film for my Final year project at Uni. I wanted to know if there were many places to get the film processed and how much this usually costs?

  • this is exactly what i want to film with my Super 8, with some Boards of Canadaorsomething in the background

  • Fantastic Super 8 film, i just got my first super 8 camera today and i hope that my first super 8 film comes out half this good! I also live in MK so was happy to see the place looking so beautiful in your shots :)

  • I've got one of those slides too.

  • this is good stuff

  • that video just earned a spot on my playlist, that video was so cool, its like total cool,

i had a super 8mm camera with sound, when i was a teen, wish i would have kept the projector, each film would run about 4 and a half minutes, was a lot of fun, thanks for bringing back memorys, wish i knew someone with a projector,i would put my films on video, thanks again this was awesome,

  • what is this song dude?!

  • fucking love it!!!!!! beautiful

  • gosh this takes me back and im not sure why but this is awesome somthing youd see in like a nuclear holocaust movie not that this is bad but like memories !!! great job and whats the song

  • For some reason I keep coming back to this film. There is just something about it, I can quite put my finger on it. But for some reason the sun at :29 just hits me.

  • Honestly, I clicked on this thinking, "Who'd want to shoot anything in 8 anymore??" Then after five seconds into this I thought, "This kicks ass, espcially with that music." It would be hard to digitally immitate the images, colors, frames per sec, and everything else that makes this cool. Good work.

  • Great movie! I am buying a super 8 camera tommorow i want to learn the basic film making with. What is the background music?

  • i love the look of the super 8 cameras.

  • very very good choice of music! really love the video too.

was just wondering how much it cost to get it processed? really interested in getting one of these amazing cameras!

  • that was cool

  • Ps. Looks lovely.

  • how much is it to get the film developed

  • Hey. What type of film is this? Beautiful movie.

  • beautiful

  • Back in those days there were no image stabilization, color correction, or any kind of effects... and it still looks awesome, it's just film.

I like that vintage look, it just feels nostalgic :)

  • feels so nostalgic... i like it

  • i really like the film, very nice cuts and choice of music. may i ask how much you pay per minute or meter of film whereever you buy it? i'd like to film on super 8 this summer but it seems to be quite the investment. camera and projector etc are a dime a dozen but the film...

  • Looking at shooting a music vid on Super 8 soon. Beautiful stuff. Really love the sound track too... Who is this?

  • i just ordered my first super 8 cam, im trying to get sum super 8 film right now, any tips for startin out?

  • love the music, whats it from?

  • Hey mate. I've just bought my 1st super 8 camera off ebay after years of admiring the look & feel or actual film in movie making.

Really love what you've done with this clip. Some really nicely cut together shots & the soundtrack at 1st seems out of place but really begins to grow on you!

Did you know that there are many places that transfer your processed film directly onto DVD, Mini-DV or even to a portable Hard Drive? Or did you do it your way to get a desired effect?

  • this is how my memories looks in my brain, kind of :P when you're thinking of things you've done it is a little blurry like this, short segments, only some parts are memorized but its mostly the good parts and toghether it makes up the whole story =D

  • I have my super 8 sent to Pac-Lab of NY. Located in Manhattan... There friendly and quick! Just to let you know- Cool video! Rich

  • He dude, sik vid! I recently was given a Bell & Howell filmosonic 8 camera. I have absolutely no idea about where to get film from, how to playback the footage, how to get footage onto a computer to edit, etc... Do you have any websites or books you reccomend to get the ball rolling?

  • very very cool i just purchased a super 8 camera just a few minutes ago cant wait to receive it !!!!

  • brilliant

  • When you shot this, did you immediatly view it on a projector or did you have to process it first?

  • with super 8 you have to send it off to be processed before you can watch it back. this takes me up to two weeks now as i need to send it to germany.

  • Yes I got the film processed, played it on a projector and then filmed it with my DV camera so I could put it on my computer.

  • @tomrules30 That's a strange but ingenious way of 'telecine-ing' your film. Did you alter it much in post?

  • @tragallon I had to adjust the brightness a bit as it was a bit dark on a computer screen. But apart from that I tried to keep it as natural as possible. Be sure to check out my other super 8 video "The Epic Super 8 Snow Movie" in the video responses.

  • Looks pretty nice! super 8 still drives that sort of magical textures and colours. Anybody knows any video editing software that can gives a super 8 effect to a moder digital footage? It would be great

  • It's imposible to create the analog feel on a digital camera, and i don't think there's any software that does it good. You should google tho.

  • do you have to use a projector and then film what's being projected in order to get this onto a computer to edit?

  • yes that is what I did

  • hey, can anybody give me the name of the song that is used here? :)

  • birth and death of the day by explosions in the sky

  • @Ayeetbolz I love this song so much.. <3

  • Very cool.

  • Very beautiful shots. like the sound track with it...very dramatic! I just put my first 8mm film up too....its sooo fustrating getting it in focus!!!!

    but think I'm addicted now!

  • This is cool as hell. How do you digitize the footage? Do you have to use a projector, then use another camera to film what you are projecting? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but the next time I see one of these cameras in a thrift store I am snatching it up.

  • Super 8 is still wonderfull, because it is REAL Film.

  • @MIKIZAZPIKI kinda funny how ppl say they are filming when using video.

  • @MIKIZAZPIKI For sure, I'm just getting into it-bought a camera and waiting for the film in the mail. It's the equivalent of records to mp3. Analog media is way better.

  • @MIKIZAZPIKI Ppl use the term "filming" today and they don`t even use film it`s either tape, mini DVD, hard drive, or memory. I guess they`re used to saying it or it just sounds cooler.

  • great choice of music... picture could've used some lightening in post, though... at least it's a bit dark for my taste.

  • amazing! fall is my favorite season

  • What type of film did you use for this? i just bought myself a super8 camera and love the way yours came out.

  • Amazing work of art. I hope to use super 8 someday.
