  • Hey Mike, Jeff here. Guam. Your drunk roommate in Tumon. Hope all is well with you.

  • @8repeels8 contact me on Facebook

  • I was a sailor on the USS Iowa when Fred Moosally darkened our decks, and eventually our lives. He was also"not entirely accurate or truthful" at anytime that I can recall after his negligence killed 47 friends of mine in Turret #2. It saddens me that someone with your commitment and bravery had to endure his lying...quite frankly Im surprised, and sad to learn, that he is in fact still alive.

  • I believe, I was threatened with dismissal by the AF for exposing Grumman made F-14 with bad chips in the weapons box and electronic emissions to high. This multi-million $ jet was no more then a toy jet with a beacon to shoot it down. The project manager told me he made enough money his kid would never serve. Sailors were also exposed to electrocution by a flawed dash-60. I sent out the warning - don't know if it ever went out. Six months later the CEO lost his job for kickbacks.

  • Evil always wins, when good men do nothing!

I am amazed by your bravery, you deserve the highest honor.

It is very sad to think nothing has been done to correct these issues.

It must have been very frustrating to do your job knowing that...

GOD BLESS you and your family!

You are already a hero, in my eyes;-)

    p.s.

I'm not even an American (Thank God!)

  • Very brave, but just make sure you don't become a target of Gang Stalking, it's like the new Cointelpro for whistile blowers and others. Gang Stalking is something being used heavily against whistle blowers, if you don't know the term, look it up.

  • largest Defence contract. lol. to bad the USCG isn't in it! dumbass!. anways this vid is very old. the USCg is already getting brand new ships. that has nothing to do with this old project. also a USCG crew will always been on the ship no matter what it's tradition.

  • You're a very brave man.

  • On behalf of the engineering students at the University of Pennsylvania, I'd like to thank you for our conversation. I had asked you whether you had a family of your own and what effect this has had on them. Before I asked the question I was 80% positive you did not have a family. It seemed to me that only a single man with nothing to lose would put his career at risk for intangible gains. I'm humbled by the personal sacrifices you've made for the safety of our country.

  • Thank you for the comments. I enjoyed my time talking to the class.

  • As my dad says, when we fight evil, we can expect some scars. You did the right thing.

  • OH SH*T --- we just sent our USCG boats to Georgia on humanitarian missions a few months ago, and the communication lines were not eavesdrop-proofed!!

Thanks so much for your courage to be a whistle blower, sir.

  • good video.

  • My only question is ... is this information classified? Is it proprietary? Because if it is either one, you are not intelligent to release it like this (and you are fully susceptible to any kind of enforcement). If it is open information, then I praise you for being a true Patriot.

  • I have a feeling that what you are calling a "mistake" is what the government is calling "right". I dont think they ever had intentions of "securing" anything but their salary.

Homeland security what a joke, the mexican border has been wide open since 9-11, any one can come into this country, but we are on "high alert"While I am taking my shoes off at the airport, and my bags rumaged through people of races just stroll on in through mexico.A few blind spots on a camera, seem kinda insignificant

  • I think this guys pretty legit. From what I saw when I was in the Coast Guard never got alot of money. Then when Congress promised them a boat load (pun not intended) they went to town like kids in a candy store. With unrealistic expectations. As for aircraft companies designing systems for a maritime service chock that up to poor leadership.

  • Is it wise to post your country's weakness in it's homeland security. On you tube for just anybody to see. I mean, I'm not American, I've never even visited, so in the interest of American Homeland Security (what a strange thing to call it by the way) I'm pretty sure I shouldn't know this stuff.

  • I believe this guy. This is not information anybody needs to make public. Remember what happened to Heraldo.

  • pangealabs - if the information is NOT classified or proprietary, then it falls under public domain - are you a fan of hiding all information?

  • not at all, but do you not see (if his information is correct) that a terrorist can use info like this? and that this is worlwide site? in any event, I'm of the same belief as shamansays, so actually these are all moot points.

  • I'm not a person who is terrified of "enemies" and all that hype, but doubtless there are some who are NOT fake enemies on CIA payroll.

Surely, other people can learn of these flaws. A communications scanner should be able to do it. Is the rest of the world's militaries stupid? I think not.

The point is, correcting it, not "security through obscurity", a computer term for non-existent security efforts that rely on virus and malware makers being lazy and incompetent.

  • Jeez , I mean all you sould have to do is place a quick call to a local official and a crack squad of elite defence types should be on it. No? Unless they have other secret means of detection and aren't worried. I mean I know the U.S is corrupt (so is mine) but SOMEBODY must be watching out for attacks (if only in their own self interest). No.... something tells me it's not as this man says it is.

  • Thank you for this video. Thats real deep speach. 5 stars

  • Now if someone like you only worked for General Dynamics...

... at least then we could find out what the hell is going wrong with the LCS project.

I don't care what others say. You're a US patriot to me.

  • I am not saying that you are wrong for blowing the wistle but the big airplanes companys have no bussiness building boats. This stuff goes on all the time and you story will probally be burried. The coast gaurd will make due with what they have. Besides we have been using ships that are 60 years old for years and they made them work.

  • I was a coastie once. Look dude you guys do nothing but rob the people by overcharging the goverment for shit they dont need. You stuff cost to much and probally went over budget. They dont need no stinking cameras thats why they watch standers, by putting in cameras you are taking away a leaning tool. Yes standing watch is a learning tool it teaches young men responsibility and integrity. Sounds like to me someone did not get there pockets full enough and is mad.

  • You are not well informed. The cameras were being providers specifically because they wanted to reduce the watch standers. As for being over budget. Most companies in defense under bid on purpose to win the work. It's not a good practice but it is what is.

  • @shawnstam I'm going to excuse you for your ignorance in regards to this subject. It is the design of the NWO to grossly de-populate this earth & then control the remaining masses. Sound crazy? See what happens within the next 5 years or less, when the government enlists the help of other nations to attack us on our own soil via our coastlines. The economy collapse was intended & will not let up. Next is the attack on our own soil. Get ready (spiritually) to die. This guy's legit.

  • wow and i just strolled in to a world of what

    sum 1 explain

  • my group is writing a paper on Organizational Change using LM has a study case... maybe we'll wait a little longer.

  • i just studied your issue in my class - engineering ethics - people like you are truly rare and i applaud your efforts. these kinds of issues should not be ignored. best wishes

  • Update - please check out the article in Corporate Counsel this month. it is very thorough. Story title "Attention Must Be Paid"

  • Thank you for doing this.

  • Update - check out the article in Corporate Counsel this month - "Attention Must Be Paid". It is very thorough. The process continues - there is more to do.

  • 123's have been pulled from service

  • It sound like lockheed martins got some issues! As a former coastie, we are used to cutters not having the best tech available, unlike the other forces who get a blank check. We always make do with what little funding or even recognition, but believe me, this is no shock to anyone who has had security watch in the middle of the night on a WMEC, seeing that our tech is in the 1960's, what business does a company that make aircraft, know anything about the seA, there thats the problem.

  • You sound angry, like you have been layed off. You and your company failed to provied what the USCG wanted and needed. So in your failure you decide to try and turn it around on the Coast Guard? Get a life and grow up.

  • At the time this video was made, this guy was not layed off. As a Coastie, you should consider this guy a hero. He has likely derailed his career with Lockheed-Martin because he believes in the USCG mission and cares about the saftey of Coasties at sea.

  • Mr. De Kort I sypathize with you being the object of LM's 800 pound guerilla tactics. LM's motto of "We never forget who we're working for" makes you assume it is the DoD. I believed that to be true but a few bad apples can make the thought behind that motto hollow. I hope the people at LM can live with the loss of life caused by their greed.

  • If you think this is bad my friend you should check out: Dr. Greer of the "Disclosure Project". Then Gulf of Tonkin, The list is endless so your problem is a drop in the proverbial bucket. God Bless your efforts but you are running into the CFR, NWO and the NAU. Vote Ron Paul in 2008!

  • Good luck to all. We're going to need it. :(

  • Im experiencing whistleblowr issues w/ my now formr employer - a defense contractor - who laid me off for raising issues The lack of ethics is mindboggling. My company also has raging discrimination issues. It was a nightmare to try & work from w/in to address & I lost my cherished career in the process. A few yrs ago my co. (an OEM of military & comm helicopters) hired a slew of talentless greedy arrogant former LM execs. AWFUL PEOPLE. U inspired me to stay the course

  • God bless you sir for putting your country and fellow citizens above your financial well being. Your country and fellow taxpayers owe you a debt that can not be repaid with dollars alone. I prey that you and your family find a company deserving of your talents and character. Thank you!

  • don't you think the coast guard wants to cover their own ass. why would they allow ineffective things to come into reality in the fleet and additionally, bring about the cause for casualty amongst their own? none of them went into the fleet, they were all scrapped, AND LM completely ripped the CG off. The CG contracted LM to get this done, and LM did not, so it lies on them, not the CG. If the CG had those capabilities, they wouldn't have contracted LM to do it.

  • WELL SAID COASTIECOWBOY!!

  • So, what's the latest? My understanding is that deep water is in deep doo doo.

  • Relevant!...NOT a waste of time. Watch his Congressional testimony! They apparently faked tests, which left all Coast Guard transmissions open to drug dealers, foreign spies, or whoever else wanted to listen in. This guy[and supporting signal security experts] eventually testified to Congress due to this Youtube video. He had protested several times over the course of the project with no response. Eventually many of these boats were towed back to shore and scrapped at a total loss!

  • tip of the iceberg, much bigger and fundamental issues must be addressed. you can fix this, but many many things like this will sprout, and not everyone will have the integrity and a pair of balls to talk about it. bottom line: this is focusing at a little branch - if you want to make a change, cut the root (if it isn't already too thick to be cut). that's all. respect for the courage though, this should be an example!

  • hey you dont know what your talking about

  • there was never an issue with faking tests...this is coming from someone who physically towed the 123's to the scrap yard. adding the extra 13 feet to the stern weakened the integrity of the hull the extensions in the drive shafts made these boats almost inoperable in seas over 10 feet. these weren't tests faked...just trial by error. maybe you should try killing yourself to see of you survive...thats trial by error worth discussing.

  • I never said the boats were taken out of service for C4ISR issues. I said that if the boats had not had hull problems and were not taken out of service as a result the remaining C4ISR issues would cause major safety and security problems down the road. I also said that since all C4ISR systems installed match the fleet would be crippled over time.

  • The tests I said were rigged were the TEMPEST security tests. It turns out the Navy may have conducted them properly but the results were wrongfully waived by someone not cleared to do so.

  • Coasttiecowboy, I am learning about this horrible example of political failure in my Masters program right now and your comments are out of line. Regardless of whether the tests were faked or not is not the main issue here. It is an issue of corporate blunder and governmental mismanagement of funds and power. This employee put himself on the line to educate the public and you told him to try to kill himself of all things. Way to go you idiot.

  • small time, irrelevant... waste of time

  • uh...I'm not sure you understand exactly what this guy is talking about. Do you know that many of these boats eventually had to be towed back to shore, then were scrapped at a total loss?

  • it had nothing to do with camera's it was a structural problem

  • a conspiracy theory...

How about if there were "interests" that would benefit by having access to all coast guard transmissions (as they do now)...these may include smugglers, dealing in drugs or people. Creating a backdoor is always the best way for infiltrators to get in.

I don't really believe this conspiracy..it's just a thought exercise. Will some guys get fired at Lockheed and Northrup, or will it just be a fine that will be built into their next bill to the government.

  • There should be a strict penalty, like automatic jail time for companies who rip off the tax payer and jeopardize our enlisted men and women. I am sick of these fleecing scumbags and wonder when the lawmakers will do something about this???

  • Lawmakers had called for the Coast Guard to take the helm of the so-called Deepwater contract, awarded in June 2002 to Integrated Coast Guard Systems, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.

    This taxpayer thanks imispgh.

  • If the allegations didn't have merit, why has the Coast Guard taken back management of the program from Lockheed and Northrup?

April 16, 2007 -- WASHINGTON: The U.S. Coast Guard is removing Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp. from their management role over a troubled $24 billion (€17.71 billion) modernization program and may rebid contracts for any incomplete projects.

  • In re the replacing of shielded cable with unshielded, you express a certainty that our nation's secure communications have *already* been compromised.

How are you so certain of this, and who exactly do you think is listening in? Also, I would think that listening in on EMR radiated by unshielded cables would require the sensors to be in very close proximity - is that not correct? Are you talking about eavesdropping equipment that has been surreptitiously placed onboard the vessel(s)?

  • TEMPEST includes many things to stop electrical emminations. Shielded cable is 1. Most of the 100 cables are the wrong according to the spec. Given this the odds are extremly great there is leakage and crosstalk. This means the xmitting of the wrong stuff. The secure internet almost constantly transmits/receives. Several of the boats actually went to Cuban ports while using it. Everyone who used that circuit was compromised if you assume our enemies constantly record and listen .

  • If an interested party can position a detector in close proximity long enough to obtain a valid sample transmission, then they ought to be able to turn that sample over to their own NSA-equivalent.

  • Yea, I saw 60 minutes myself and was quite shocked.

  • I saw the report on 60 minutes tonight and was appalled. Had you not possessed the guts of an American hero (and instead the rancid linguini of a patently vested fraud -- Hello "Guhairit"! ), lives of those fighting to protect the security of the United States might very well have been threatened. I look forward to a public investigation of this matter.

  • i saw u on 60 min and i believe in you.

  • Dude the boats we have are older then most of the people incharge of the up keep. Finaly someone notices.

  • hmmm, my group is writing a paper on Organizational Change using LM has a study case... maybe we'll wait a little longer. Some things never change...

  • I can't believe our hard earned tax dollars are being pissed away by both Lockheed and the Coast Guard. On top of that, they are putting our men and women who so valiantly serve this great nation of ours at risk. This is just plain unacceptable!!! I applaud this gentleman for speaking out. This video will save lives.

  • Yes the immediate cause for the 123s being taken out of service were the hulls. Had they not cracked all 49 of the boats would have eventually been taken out of service and rendered useless due to the C4ISR faults. One for example- 30 items on each 123 was deemed unable to survive the elements by the DHS IG, the witnesses and the committee.

  • The TEMPEST visual and instrumented tests failed. They were wrongfully waived and received an Authority to Operate in error. The worry is not eavesdropping so much as transmitting out clear info via crosstalk. The failures were due to over 100 of the wrong cables and various other design/implementation deficiencies. All of which are well documented now.

  • I do not work for Northrop. As a matter of fact I would have preferred to stay with Lockheed and help them get the program right. Both Lockheed and Northrop are part of Deepwater ICGS.

  • LISTEN TO ME. This guy probably works for Northrop Grumman now that Lockheed got rid of him and is attempting to slander us. If you read the hearing you can see Northrop also works on our Deepwater program. Even if he doesn't, he is feeding you all a line of bull.

  • And for those that don't know, TEMPEST, in a nutshell is a way to pull signals from electrical equipment out of the air and attempt to unscramble them and pull logical information out of it. TEMPEST has extremely limited range though. The likelihood of failing a certification test do to some stripped wiring is HIGHLY unlikely.

  • Oh man, you are full of it. The boats are old cutters and some of the hulls broke and were beyond repair. We at Lockheed all want the very best for any customers or clients we have. We never forget who were working for.

  • The hearing last week ended with an LM engineer, a CG engineer and the investigator for the committee confirming all of my allegations as accurate. Now the DOJ is investigating. Check CSPAN-3 for the video of the first 2 panels. Watch for more articles and a 60 Minutes episode on this soon. The hearing was conducted by the House Transportation & Infrastructure committee. Go to their site and click on the hearing for statements etc

  • I work at Lockheed Martin, and in the Deepwater program. You all are being duped by this guy. The contract was given to Lockheed because we had the best contract compared to other companies. For the price and equipment the COAST GUARD decided to go with us.

This happens all across the board. The government simply cannot justify the cost, it happens people. We could give each soldier the best armor and weapons but we simply cannot afford it. This is a non-issue.

  • imispgh.. sorry about you getting booted off FP and usmilnet.. Glad to see your "doing the right thing" is finally causing the current comdt to go after, as ordered by congress, those involved. Though no one might have told you, thanks for your work as it might have saved a few coasties from harm or death.

  • Wow: watching today's Congressional hearings

Thanks to you! for the courage to let us know how to help protect the CG, expose a REAL problem and help protect our country: thanks to anyone who is willing to take an ethical stand when it would be more convenient to look the other way. Now that the congressional hearings are confirming the huge scope of this travesty..the right thing includes removing incompetence, malficience, greed and corruption.

  • they shouldnt have taken the 110's and tried to add 13 ft the results were hulls being twisted and the cutters being restricted to minimum seas, lol the cg fucked up on this one, just fire all the people running the deep water project cause everything ive been hearing is them fucking up on everything.... from what i heard they cant even get the new fast response boats hulls to stay up right....

  • Through these mistakes we have learned the faults and have made the corrections that were needed. EVERYTHING has been fixed, or is being fixed. Stop being pissed that you lost your job. You are an angry man and you do not have any right to blanket yourself in the sheild of freedom, and spit on those freedom's. Because you have a low level of knowledge of the systems,You are not a whistleblower, you are just sad, angry, and looking for your 15 min. of fame. MOVE THE F@@K on You sad man.

  • Only the NSC hull is being fixed. The 123s were taken out of services and NONE of the C4ISR issues were fixed. The next thing to find out is how many boats other than the 123s had the same problems. Stay tuned -and try to open your mind a little. Don't assume everything those in authority say is true. Keep in mind they all said my allegations were baseless until recently. The IG report released 3 weeks ago supported confirmed every one of them as technically accurate.

  • ferisjag, Who is angry? I sure hope the stuff is fixed but if you think Lockheed did out of a sense of patriotism then you are foolish as well as "angry". They fix this stuff because guys like this bring it out into the light. Relax, the worst case scenario is that the CG doesn't insist on fixing these things. The best case is that they get embarrassed.

  • ...you might want to review the congressional hearings on this matter and the list of witnesses including those from lockheed. '...this sad, angry man..' might deserve more then your assumptions...how about considering reviewing your comments and the evidence one more time...if you have the time, ability or interest.

  • You must have been at Buzzards Point for more than three months because your comment shows you are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

  • dammnn this is awfull .. i'm from canada and therefore can't really help you with this .. anyhow you posted this vido almost a year ago . and i sincerely hope you found people to help you, or at least find help and support to reveal the truth to the U.s. population .. !

got my mental support if it could be of any use!

  • So is this whole deal something that the guys driving these boats feel too or is this just because you got your ideas canned? Where are the sailors that agree with your ideas?

  • The IG report agreed with me on every issue. Back door - the CG personnel are behind me. Most are too scared to get involved publically. Look at the testimony of Capt Kevin Jarvis.

  • In late 2006, Admiral Allen, Commandant of the Coast Guard, decommisioned all eight 123-foot cutters due to dangerous conditions created by the lengthening of the hull- to include comprimised watertight integrity. The Coast Guard has, as a result of the failed 110-ft conversion, revised production schedules for the Fast Response Cutter (FRC).

  • I can't put links here. Find the IG report on my allegations and search Google news for recent stories. Why did it take 8 boats to figure it out? The Commandant won't even stop contractor self-certifying. Wait until the NSC info comes out on their C4ISR problems. The rest of the iceberg is coming in to view.

  • This is sad. This man has no idea of the advances that has happened since he was let go from his job. There has been problem's with the new Cutter's, but nothing that would put our brothers or sisters in danger. Get a new job fool and stop bitching about the blanket of freedom you love so much, but hate when It's not to your perfect standards. Dont worry, we still will be there when you need us.

  • What advances?

Did you read the IG report? They agreed with me on every point on technical merits and 2 out of 4 contractually (they were incorrect on the other 2. Both of which I will prove)

  • ok ur krazy!

  • Mr X here sure sounds like the Real Deal. This is typical of the kind of bean counter crap that engineers deal with around the world. Incompetent management making technical decisions in areas where they have zero expertise. Tell The Expert versus Ask The Expert. Cover Thine Ass for political reasons. Same kaka, different verse.

It's now January '07. Are these patrol boats still in service? Have any of these issues been addressed yet?

  • None of these boats have been released yet

  • Good. Time to correct them first.

  • Well done. We need more people like you speaking out as I'm sure your situation is not unique!

  • Thank you for your courage.

  • This does seem plausible - the Coast Guard is the finest choice of the uniformed services if you're looking for an example of an organization that's undermanned and not given the money they need. Some of their boats are ancient. USCG is like any government organization - cutting corners. USCG probably needs to cut many of them with how underfunded they are. And of course top execs at one of the largest US defense contractors would want to sweep this under the rug.

  • See the latest NY Times articles by Eric Lipton. All of my allegations were accurate.

  • is it just me or is this video not playing any more. i've never seen it but i'm guessing that the government shut it down. any coast guards out there, i was wondering of being a reserve. what are your maine duties and do you guys go to iraq? thanks

  • the government? LOL

you think the government will move for some poorly designed coast guard ship? They dont even bother to make the improvment for the ship yet you think they come the government came to youtube to shut this video down?

    LOL

  • It's just you....I just finished watching it...

  • You are a hero for speaking out!

  • Indeed!

  • They didn't listen to Richard Clarke either.
