@freedomwv In 1971, North Korea was very isolated politically and wedged between the ideological conflicts between Soviet Union and China. Romania seemed to be the only communist country that successfully kept good relations with both China and Soviet Union, and even with some Western countries. As Kim Ir Sen saw it, Ceausescu could act as a guide in how to appease both giants.
