@TheEndOfLiberty No,this has it's own story and Brotherhood follows the manga's story.At the beginning of both animes,the plot is nearly the same but the plots diverge between the middle of both animes.In other words,Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood have different plots when it comes to Fullmetal Alchemist's episode plots like when it reaches about episode 25 to 35,Brotherhood's episodes is different in characters and plots when it reaches te same setting.

@dudewithanaxe24 If you are referring to the Fullmetal Alchemist manga comics, you should watch "Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood" instead. This show starts out as the manga did, but then it changes completely because the manga hadn't been completed by the time of this shows release. Both shows are great, but if you want a animated version of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga you should watch Brotherhood instead. Most people say its better anyways.

@gunit61955 Since FMA was animated before the manga was finished serializing, it has it's own storyline about halfway through the series. It has a different plot of how the homunculus were made, who the homunculus are and the reason they are made. Brotherhood follows the manga more closely. Both are good animes but I advice that you watch this first because once you get used to FMAB's fast pace, you'll probably get bored at how slow the pace of FMA is.
