Does anyone know what the surface of an aircraft carrier actually is? i mean is it like tarmac they use on on normal runways or is it steel or some other metal - thanks

@catch121 It's called non-skid. The actual flight deck is several inches of steel armor, and non-skid is laid on similar to how tar is laid on a road. Its an extremely grippy surface that prevents the aircraft from sliding around when they land. The downside is that if you trip and fall on non-skid it'll probably slice right thru your cloths and tear up your skin pretty good too.

As for aviation fuel, I know the CVN-65 Enterprise 8,500 tons of aviation fuel. As for the USS Kitty Hawk, it has a fuel capacity of 4,000,000 gallons. It all varies on size.

My dad was on the USS Texas number 39 he was a engine man. There where some smokers that wouldn't stop smoking everyone was suffering. My dad asked them to smoke on the deck, they said no you ****. He asked them again, they said no. So hepulled out the 160 PSI fire hose and sprayed them to the walls. The next day, the Bridge Operator asked him to come to the bridge, He asked with a grin why did you spray them? My dad said they where smoking. The bridge operator said don't do it again. True story

Secondly: Iraq was a stable country under Saddam Hussein, now it has a government that barely functions and is told what to do by the USA.

And it is a fact T45s, Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, the Charles De Gaulle, etc are more advanced. I never said the US Navy is crap. It is definately more powerful.
