@rustytoe178 I dont understand how to add and substract negitive numbers when they have different signs. please help. for example.. -3- -5? or 3+-5? i dont understand the rules when you add or substract negitive numbers/
Adding negatives is simply a subtraction; negative 3 + -5 is just 3 - 5. which is negative 2.
Take -3 - -5. Start at -3. When you have two minus signs they cancel out, so they become addition. so -3 - -5 really means -3 +5, which is positive 2.
I learned more from 10 minutes of watching this, than I did from an hour and a half sitting in my COLLEGE LEVEL Precalculus class... smh @ public education, and KUDOS to @rip85hotmail! Amazing work!
a bit of a hint to everyone! my teacher taught is that having negatives on problems is just to confusing. that is why she says if its "x-5" to make it easier, write it as "x + -5" this is a lot less confusing. spread the word. :)
@renzopogie because in a polynomial you have to have descending orders of powers, which means if you have something to the power of 5, you also need to have powers 4, 3, 2, 1. It just acts as a place holder while you are doing division.
i love how my algebra II teacher cant explain this properly a million times in a row and a stranger on the internet explains it once perfectly. thank you for your much needed help

@ZekePolite1775 Okay, if you have two negatives, it switches the operation.
Adding negatives is simply a takeaway; negative 3 + -5 is just 3 - 5.

how do you divide polynomials if you on only have one term as your divisor?

If You have only one term as your divisor It's SOOO much easier. All you do is divide the one term into the polynomial one number at a time.
akatsuki202 1 year ago
@hellokittyrocksyodad In general when dividing you get a fraction. So when divining polynomials with one term you get a classic fraction. :)
