Those "blue things on the ground" are not worms, are not "dildos" as someone else called them. They're glow rods. you break them in the middle and the chemicals inside create light. They're used by the military as a flameless long term storage and are useful on long missions. Go to your local dollar store and you can pick up smaller versions of them. They were also popular at places like Disney and Kings Island as necklaces and sticks and are safe for kids to play with.
