  • VERY nice tower, double master stream....

  • I found a recent vid with the same dispatch.watch?v=0Fsd24QL478&feature=channel_video_title

  • dispatcher was very calm and fd did a great job containing the fire

  • Good Job Dispatcher!

she's all like "mmm hmmm just another fire"

  • Engine 22 is where my cousin worked at.

  • Dispatcher is amazing!!! Every dispatch needs not take lessons from her!!

  • I like the Dispatcher she got her job down pat good job on her part.

  • Wow! Excellent video, but I LOVE the dispatcher. She is fantastic. Good job, all!

  • DFD, bad mo fos! :)

  • first alarm and every additional alarm after that you get, 3 engines, 1 truck, 1 squad, and a chief. and i think that dispatcher actually retired this january 2010.

  • Smoke was rolling out of that pos. Great dispatcher too.

  • i assume detroit has a lot of fires because of abandoned buildings?

  • WOW! That is the calmest dispatcher I have ever heard. Working as a dispatcher its a tough job. One fear that I have is dealing with mayday calls both from police and fire.

  • 2nd that. Best dispatcher ever.

  • That dispatcher is incredible!!!

  • I love that dispatcher! She is outstanding.

  • What is a 1st alarm, 2nd alarm, 3rd alarm, 4th alarm, and 5th alarm assignment in Detroit

  • 1st alarm assignment in Detroit is 2 engines, 2 ladders, a squad, and a Chief. 2nd alarm is double the above. I don't know the last time they had a 3rd...it would have to be huge. This would have been an "all hands" for the FDNY. I spent a week in Detroit with the DFD this summer and these guys bust balls like no other. Also, the friendliest and most hospitipal guys I've met in 14 years on the job.

  • wow i have a digital with south, east, west, north, and emergency band with 3 fireground and i dont even hear this much. but i also live in pa.

  • In the fire service i beleive we call it the Bravest..But DFD -344 are the best.

  • Detroit has the finest!

  • got damn havent seen a good structure fire in a while lol

  • thats a 2nd alarm? thats like a 4th or 5th alarmer

  • True. Esp if they have 2 HAZMAT units responding

  • It's a 2nd alarm in Detroit, with all the abandoned buildings that detroit has always being set on fire this fire was nothing

  • Great to hear radio traffic on this fire . Detroit Fire Department is one of the greatest Fire Departments in the World . I salute them .

  • We've got a street named Space st. in our city....just once I'd like there to be a 1st alarm there so we can be Space command.....lol

  • 10/10 for the dispatcher....calm, clear and composed. Surprised that job wasnt more than a 2nd alarm though....

  • NOTHING goes higher than a 2nd in detroit. look up some of the other videos...its freaking crazy. some of those fires would even have FDNY and Chicago panicked.

  • This is great vid....love audio wit it....makes for great watch. keep em coming...great job!!!!!

  • Radio traffic indicates polycarb in building that might be more the cause of the black smoke rather than backdraft conditions. But really why take the chance. It does lokk "cottony"

  • Amen vent roof if not spongy. Although at the 1-2 corner we can see day light at the roof on the stairwell.

  • thats a nasty fire

  • indeed

  • When you see ,how the Black smoke get pressed out of the upper flow,I see also there the Danger of a Falshover or a Backdraft. This Tense Smoke like here is a sign for Heat but not enough Air full a full involving Fire.this can Cause a Backdraft or a Hugh Flashover.

  • I am so used to hearing the worlds worst dispatching where I work i am sitting with my mouth open......outstanding dispatch and home sweet home baby!

  • Dispatcher, AAA+++++ score! Scottasmothers puts it best! She SHOULD be the example to train other dispatchers, very calm,VERY clear, and most important - THOROUGH!

  • The BEST FIREFIGHTERS in the WORLD.

  • This dispatcher is GREAT. She need's to go around the world and teach other dispatchers. What a great job.

  • nasty smoke

  • 1 snorkel,1 aerial - thats 2 trucks dispatch!

  • Excellent Dispatch job! Hats off to that dispatcher.

  • Request for PD traffic interfering with stretch of lines! Some ppl are jus fkn STUPID AND DISRESPECTFUL!!

  • top floor about to flashover!

  • Thank God Almighty that there are people that put their lives on the line for the rest of us!! Bless ya Boys!!!

  • I have to co-sign. Thank you for putting your lives on the line for our safety.

  • That dispatcher did a great job and that was a nice fire.

  • Amazing video i am waitin for aps to come out for the d

  • dispatch did a great job

  • shes on it

  • dang, thats a cooker! hats off to you all from Jackson County, Florida

  • ilive only about amile from there and that was a hell of a fire that building is still standing it took them a week to put out the building was to dangerous for them to enter the 3rd floor collased in to the 2nd floor i remember a warehouse fire back in 1987 were they lost 3 firefighters the guy who started it was charged for the deaths of those firefighters

  • detrioit fire is an amazing company! they catch all the flack and still get the job done and safely! and the dispatcher is amazing! i wish mine was anywhere near as good!

  • GOD BLESS YOU BROTHERS....

  • Great dispatcher!!

  • No kidding brother, shes a hell of a lot calmer than ours...lol

  • word...

  • Lords of Livernois ? Suyak ?

  • As a former firefighter of a bordering suburban department i will say DFD is amongst the best.Politicians keep taking from them but they keep on keeping on. Stay safe Brothers and Sisters!!

  • word...

  • Yeah. What department were you from? And, yeah. DFD is great, considering the cuts they face.

  • wow thats crazy - i was just there from nyc a month before snappin' pics of this really cool warehouse!

what a shame it burned!!:\ any idea if it's still standing? actually i think i may just roll by since i'm back here >':'<

  • Geese was this in one of the bad nieghborhoods?I don't remember hearing anything of this in Downtown

  • It's just west of the I-96 / I-75 interchange. I rode E50 back in the mid-70's so I missed the really big jobs. If the fire didn't break though the roof then there is a chance of repair. Problem is that so many of those multi-story industrials are being lost first to fire and then the wrecking ball that soon Detroit won't have the industrial infrastructure necessary to rebound.

  • That is so true. Its so sad and true.

  • Great video, I was out there July 4th weekend, and the DFD was nothing but curteous to me and my friends.

  • Awesome video!!!

  • God Bless my hometown FD, Detroit FD!

  • That is some fire! Good job, Detroit FD

  • Awesome use of the incident command structure. You guys definately stayed awake in class! Good Job Detroit!

  • I remember listening to this fire, it was hard to listen to since they've switched to the state system, outside of the city it is choppy, but you got nice clear comms, its great to see what actually was happening, nice job filming!

  • nice fire !!!!

  • good clear comms a credit to you.

  • nice job with command. lookin good Detroit.

  • wow...what a fire...co15 TCFD

  • The Brother's got a good job on this one. It also showed up on this month's issue of Firehouse magazine.
