  • Joe Biden claimed that the $862 Billion failed stimulus ($400 remains unspent) “created or saved” 750,000 jobs. Economists don’t recognize jobs saved, and the jobs saved may have been keep local agencies afloat. When the money ran out, the people lost their jobs. Currently States are considering filing bankruptcy for spending. watch?v=IqmeT5ykKf0

The Govt owns 61% of GM, GOOGLE, “GM's electric-car fantasy running out of gas” and read links. The Green Movement should be free market driven

  • Awesome footage. I got some good information on this from fasteconomicalcars (.) com

  • This video is pretty interesting, does that make me a nerd? We might be able to work together. I help people who have file bankruptcies get a cash settlement

  • haha i feel that people should know that i love the volt so much that i involuntarily made the WOOT motion with my arm when i saw it... yes

  • it means shit cars, like skodas in the soviet union. Socialism doesn't work

  • it's not bad but missing a vital point that voids it all. a plugin hybrid is not substantially more expensive than a prius to make. they both have overweight steel bodies, both have combustion engines and the plugin can even have a much smaller engine, both have two electric motor/generators, both have a battery pack. both have governinging electronics. the only difference is that the plugin needs 20+ mile pack. let's say 30mile range in a 6000$ pack. 40k$ is lie. all their cars should be plugin

  • Can you take a breath between sentences? Lol, it'd be a little easier to understand you. Good videos though.

  • GM says their new focus is on fuel effecient cars.

If GM wants to get out of bankruptcy, shouldn't their focus be on building cars customers want to buy?

I'm sure there is a market for fuel efficient cars, but that shouldn't be their only or primary focus.

  • @MountAthos With today's gas prices (that will only continue to rise into the future) fuel efficiency is a major factor in the mind of any intelligent car buyer..

  • Is it just me or are cars looking more and more like space ships? Sorry, I'm a sci-fi fan lol...

Anyway! What about European cars? I remember when I was in Germany pretty much NO one drived, but the few who did had these tiny cars. (small at least by US standards)

  • i am from the UK

most EU cars are small compared to US cars because there is limited space on the road and people have no need for fantastically over sized cars i came to NY last january and was suprised by the fact that the Cabs were almos twice the size of the london Taxis but yet felt like the same space inside. most places in central Europe have towns were people have no need for cars and all they need is in their village i wish the UK was more like this.

  • I see your point. Nissan has come out with the Pivo and Pivo2. They are doubtlessly one the biggest "think different" banners ever, but i think it's just a step too far. Nobody want's to make every car on the road really wierd looking.

  • 32 miles per gallon is rubbish.

  • yes the enclave is the nicest car of all and the and the government bought all those companies so they can start puting in mile gages for taxing people on the miles u drive. second off hank i would like to say that this is going to cause are government t0o be a socialist one, which i dont want! i also think that this economy isnt gonna go any where untill people start buying stuff like cars cell phones ipods and computers to bring this economy up thanks for taking the time to read this vast note

  • tplightn999... what's wrong with socialism? socialism>capitalism.

  • TWO THINGS:

    1) GM sold Saturn to Penske, so the Vue EV will still be coming, just from someone else.

    2) The Camaro uses the same engine in mid-size cars, and considering that most drivers will use it infrequently, the drop in mileage vs small cars will be negligible.

I think cars in general are at the very nascent stages of transforming into recreational devices (NOT NEEDED), especially in urban centres. I live in Toronto, a city with an extensive transit network, and don't drive at all.

  • Buick is like Mid-Luxury Cars :l

You really hurt my feelings there.

  • yes! Go bikes!!

  • u=good speaker

  • Buick is the car of choice in China. No joke.

  • Intro and outtro music/something would be nice

  • getting rid of Saturn was pretty stupid, most popular cars in my town really

  • Hybrid batteries hurt the enviroment!!!!!! spread the word!!!

  • I am so glad you started this channel! Great information, well-presented.

  • Hank..I got two words for you...You ROCK!! Because of this channel (and vlogbrothers) I have learned so many new things. Keep up the good work!!

  • thanks for this amazing informative video =]

if i could buy a car i would buy the new insight or the volt.

hmm plz get a haircut youre cute but u would def. look better!

  • ill def buy the volt if they keep it.

  • buick is lincoln town cars mostly, well i guess.

  • thanks 4 this video!!

but, i just wanted to say, my dad is a saturn dealer, and he said nissan is buying saturn, so technically, they are staying, just not under GM... i dont know if they are going to keep the plug in vue... but yeah.

  • I just wanted to take the time to thank you. Because of this YouTube account, I know much more about green cars than I ever would have otherwise. Great job explaining everything and keep up the good work!

  • Thanks! This is really interesting!

  • hank i learn so much from your videos!

  • Oh Hank, I love how you make things so simple and fun.

  • :) :)

  • Hank- Just had a long conversation in office about the impracticality of mass transit systems a la Japan due to the spread out nature of the American population. Do you have ideas on that? How can the US integrate improved mass transit into it's green transportation plans. (As if we actually had a plan...)

  • It's called Park and Ride my friend. You simply ride your bike or drive your car to the park and ride and then take mass transit the rest of the way.

  • That works for some suburban areas. I see it in action where I live. But there are many areas that are too rural, people that work overnights and weekends. If you really want people to ride the bus/ take the train, you need to keep commute times low, buses and trains need to be as full as possible and it has to be more personally practical than owning your own vehicle. We can't count on altruism to get people to take the bus. We have to make it appealing.

  • Is Hank EgoGeek? Or does he just a part of it?

  • he is THE Ecogeek

  • I've been thinking lately that if the big 3 go under, as it seems they will, what will replace them? What kinda of companies will move in? Will they be companies that want to help the environment and promote logical cars? It will be interesting to see how it all unfolds in the next few years.

  • At this point Ford is the only self sufficient company of the big 3, to boot they are also on track to be profitable in the next few years. GM may follow close behind soon, and as for Chrysler, well, I say that the government is only prolonging the inevitable with them. I personally think Chrysler needs to hire Lee Iaccoca again, he did some great things for them in the late 80's.

  • Can I just say, that I personally think, taht Amercians drive too much... Like when I was in America, I wasn't even allowed to drive to school by bike.. the school was only 15 minutes away.

And public transportation seems to be non-exist in the US (at least in the most parts), which I personally think sucks, because pupblic transportation rules and is so much better for everyone =)!

  • I agree with you, it makes being more concious of the ways we get around much more difficult because its either ride a bike (but the distances are sometimes too far) or drive. Public Transportation, outside of big cities, is virtually non-existant.

  • Wow I didn't know GM made that many brands this really is uber-informative thank you Mr. Green

  • My heart broke when I heard there would be no Hybrid Saturn Vue. I own a Vue now and love it for it, it can fit three kids, two adults, a wheelchair and a double stroller all in it with with room left. Plus it is not a huge gas guzzaling car - it feels like a suv that was zappled by a shrink ray. I guess I will have to cont. to save my money now for a different hybrid that can meet my needs.

  • hmmm, that volt may be a very nice vehicle to have, i am interested in it, but at the same time, i do hope that society in general moves towards a greener mode of transportation, less reliance on vehicles and the like.

  • Lets learn all about horse care from the Amish along with living without electricity, etc. Horse and wagon lets go back to those days, it wasn't that long ago we were using horses for centuries. This would create new jobs, blacksmiths and hiring the stagecoach drivers.

  • Lets bring back the stagecoach for transportation, we get natural fertilizer too this way.

  • Comment removed

  • Answer this, all the employees that lost their jobs how are they going to afford a new car when they lost their homes. A job and home is more needed than a car.

  • If the government has controlling interest in GM, can't they use this as an opportunity to bring more fuel efficient and/or hybrid cars to the market?

  • You americans should realy do something about public transportation!

  • as an american, i second that.

  • In certain parts of the US public transportation is actually readily available. I can take a bus anywhere in my state pretty much (New Jersey), and everywhere I really want to go, I can find some reasonable form of public transportation (usually Bolt Bus. genius) to get me there. I live along the North East Corridor where public transportation is probably at it's best. I wish the rest of the country was like this. Trains do need to be less expensive. $100 Amtrak fairs from NYC to PHI is crazy.

  • saabs are great .. that sucks

  • bikes are awesome :) although not for the auto industry, I see that.

btw was that picture with the bikes taken in the netherlands? I think I recognize that street ^^

  • We recently sold one of our two cars and now I cycle to school. The car we have left is a Prius. W00t!

  • dude, u should really start talking about other stuff besides cars (i mean i REALLY find these informative but "eco" should mean more than cars)

  • i just realized he's using a green screen to make the background green :D

  • nice use of the green screen XD my republican father buys all our vehicals from gm but im gonna start driving this yr. if i get a car of my own it will probably b a chevy cobalt or something which is good ya?

  • Chevrolet Cruise with German license plate! Awesome!

It's about time that GM builds more efficient cars. GM brands (except for Opel) are quite unknown and unfamous in Europe because nobody wants to buy these monsters there. It would be nice if GM as one of the big players would build a Hybrid since this would encourage other car companies to build a hybrid too, or even a way more efficient car.

  • I never heard of the Chevy Cruise. It looks good.

  • I'm a bt surprised you didn't mention the EV1, which GM still has somewhere :s Everyone loved it, god, some would pay a $1M on it, but GM just didn't want to bring it on the market :s

  • buick is the numer one selling car in china.

also, i am in love with my 89 buick park avenue. i like buicks. if they would work on a more energy efficient buick, i would be incredibly happy.

  • WHOA! I really like the volt! I would buy it!

  • i think it has like a need for speed night track look

  • GM tried to recall my car...Which is ten years old.

  • nothing wrong with a hummer limo. :)

  • All this car business press stuff makes my head hurt! I think walking is a good safe practice though...

  • haha buick's category is pretty much middle-of-the-road, old an cars.

  • aww no saturn....

  • One of the reasons I love living in the UK is that you really can get by without a car - public transport may not be pretty but it is fairly well maintained and well thought-out.

  • Bicycles for the win!!!

i was in paris for spring break and they have a really efficient bicycle stand system there where people just pay for a year round card and swipe it at bike racks where they pick up a bike, go where they need, and put it at a different rack. The racks are pretty much spread all throughout the city so that makes it really convenient

  • 4th

  • 4TH

  • Wow, I'd never heard of the Saturn View before. I suppose that doesn't matter now :P

    Another informative vid!

  • i think they spell it vue.

  • Heh, I suppose that just goes to show how little I knew about it :D

  • 2nd

  • Yay!
