I actually had the original one, my dad bought the entire set for me when I was 8 yrs old, but a year later, when my brother was 2 he would cry because he wanted to play with it and my parents forced me to let him borrow it. on one occasion I had to let him borrow the black lion when we went on a trip, when we got to our destination I noticed my brother didn't have the black lion anymore, and I never saw it again.
I DONT KNOW IF THATS THE METAL ONES, BUT MY MOM BOUGHT THE METAL VOLTRON TOY AND IT WAS SO HEAVY BUT IT WAS A BADASS TOY I HAD IN MY CHILD HOOD YEARS, MISS THOSE DAYS
Where can you buy this besides amazon and ebay? I dont want to pay these stupid sellers markedup prices. Is that a store or online store that carries this? Thanks guys! I have the 25th Anniversary edition...but this looks way classier!
I went over mine with a micron pen, filled out all the itty bitty lines and details on the lions. Now Voltron looks like he's been in battle; which is better (in my opinion), than a clean, crisp, perfectly spotless Voltron; cuz that's not how it'd be in real life. Now that Most Wanted is making a fully transformable Vehicle Voltron, I'm gonna have to get him.
@arevaloanthony i hear ya man, same here. i couldnt really afford this, but i do have an extra plastic version so i figured id just sell it. i could give it to you for like $85 total, shipping already included. still up to you, figure id give you a price.
@nicknasty14 well honestly the diecast is really awsome... IF ur planning to put in a shelf or on display, I bought mine less than $150 I think that's when there's a lot of it on eBay. So it's just like the reviewer said in this video it's not meant for playing if one of the joints will be loose there's a possibility that he's gonna fall down... So in my perspective a work of art like this is meant to be in a nice well balance smoke free pet free shelf >:)
@arevaloanthony just picked it up today and it is very nice. i need a car case type holder for it, to put it in. put it on a shelf or case, keep it away from dust. paid $150 for it still sealed straight from a fresh case. i see they are going for quite a bit more, especially sealed like this. anyways man, message me if you are interested in the toynami collectors set voltron. i have 1 extra one that is case fresh as well, never opened. i can email you pics if you are interested and better price!
@nicknasty14 I appriciate for ur help but I already bought the diecast one it's pretty amazing. Problem is it's too scary to play with coz of the paint don't wanna chip it. But since you told me bout the difference betweenthe two I'll start looking for the plastic version. Thanks :)
@arevaloanthony how do you like the diecast? im very tempted on picking it up. i am a collector, so it will be set up on display in a case. i heard there was a slight problem with someones plastic metallic version on here, i think with the arm. came to find out that it was excess paint in one of the joints on his particular one. i do prefer the collectors gift set box the most. i dunno, i am really on the fence with the diecast. i can pick one up right now for $150. kinda pricey though.
@nicknasty14 not sure if you were talking about my video review for the plastic version, but yeah mine was seized and took incredible twisting which was stressing the plastic clip on the lion arm really bad, I used a square shafted screwdriver that fit perfect and it snapped clean quite easily since metal doesnt give. Now the arem ratchets fine. As far as the diecast, its not as toy like as the plastic, its real heavy, and meant mostly for display, but it is AWESOME
@chachipower I had the plastic version and sold it. I did end up getting the diecast and can say this thing blew me away. I used to have the old original diecast GoLion. Was one of my prized toys back in the day. This new diecast one just blows that old one away! The plastic one for me, was too light and not as colorful and heavy as the diecast. It looked more like a plastic toy. I have it enclosed in a case, on display, posed and it is incredible! I HIGHLY reccomend it to any Voltron fan!
i'm guessing the yellow lions ears dont have cannons in in them and the blue lions head doest pop up. but like he said, this is meant purely for display, not for action
i still have my original from the 80's voltron..the one that was recalled thre kb toy stores cause if the lead paint..and i also have the vehicle voltron also...what are these worth? the vv is missing all the tires thou
@arevaloanthony im hearing alot of people saying that the plastic first version is a little better than the diecast. its more durable and wont chip because its plastic, not diecast. i used to have the original golion made from godaiken and that thing chipped in a few pieces over time. plastic looks the same as the diecast, just not top heavy and as fragile as the diecast. DO NOT get the new metallic plastic version. its made very poorly and you cant move the arms!
Great review of Masterpiece Voltron. He looks so beautiful as a Masterpiece toy. The Lions look really awesome, especially the Black Lion, my favorite of course! If they fuck him up in the new Movie, I will be pissed.
Dont mkake such a fuss about the hockey thing you guys. Just skip it until he gets back to the review. And plus, the hockey scenes are like 10 seconds.

That Power Rangers series was called Zyuranger ,and it came around 1992. A year before that first season was shown here dubbed by Saban as PowerRangers.
@SpacerAM2 I know it QUITE well since i'm a BIG power ranger's fan, but what i meant that SUPER SENTAI began before this series and they already were using mechas to fight versus the evil, so this show is a kind of copy of what super sentai already was
@SpacerAM2 lol. i knew that. but i'm telling everybody else out there that the rangers came out first in JAPAN, i get what you are saying i'm just telling the idiots of the world who still havent grasped that yet....
@SpacerAM2 That is were you are wrong. Super Sentai (the Japanese series that ended up becoming the Power Rangers in the states) have been using Mecha since 1979.
yeah,it was black, but the mold was not the same,it was kinda similar, but the voltron was black and had a cool looking sowr, and it had a V symbol in the chest
OH I remember that one! I had the large version of it and sold it on Ebay. Think it came out in the 90's and was made by Trendmasters for the CGI Voltron cartoon.
Awesome review Kevin thank you Voltron was one of my favorite cartoon/toy when i was a kid i only need season's 3 & 4 in the lion force serie's and then when ever i find the vehicle voltron serie's then i will get it sometime in 2009 i will try to get masterpiece voltron. By the way have you heard if there going to make a live action voltron movie in the not so distant future please let me know if you hear anything Kevin talk to you later
just a suggestion.. i just wish you could've showed the viewers as to how you transform it as to show the comparison vs as showing it already transformed. also, what the connection of hockey to the review?!.. just wondering...
i just looked at my old LV and there are more differences then the one this guy listed but the original sword had a longer blade with a shorter handle. sadly my sword is broken and the ears on the head break off. But dude there is a reason one buys multiple of a collectors item; one to keep in good condition, one to use and one, and one or more to replace the others with. be a good collector and let kids play with one. the old one with a few broken parts is worth more anyway.
the toy is very much like the toy in the 90's back when i was 4 years old. didnt change much. and that sucks man. wish the movie gets made, so the toys would get better,
I used to have the whole original metal set [minus red one], but the black one broke and the yellow one dissapeared. Still got the blue and green one and they sit on my desk.
I so need to buy this collectors one. Voltron toys are the greatest.
I remember having a voltron figure and I miss it so much my mom sold my voltron at a yard sale for only 10.00 and it was in perfect condition so thats why I pre-order the new voltron lion force set can't wait to get
I hate this toy very much.. :( Mine broke after only posing the waist. I'm a big Voltron collector (80s Japan made products only though) and I have to say, I'm really dissapointed in this product. First off, it's not even worthy of the title "Masterpiece". If you own a "Masterpiece" Optimus Prime, you will know why I say this. MP Optimus.. now THAT is a masterpiece toy. And its not all that fragile either. Many details, features yet it all looks like the show, only better. :)
You know I wish as a kid you think about the toys you have. The Millenium Falcons, The Transformers(Generation 1), The original Voltron(which I played the shit out of) and all the rest. I got one thing to say. THANK GOD FOR RE-ISSUES (except for Transformers, these new ones are shit the metal ones were better). Great video! Thanx.
I bought mine off of Ebay for $56.00. It had a broken leg but was an easy fix. There's a Gift Set coming out soon using the Masterpiece molding but is made of all plastic. Retail will be around $50 to $60 dollars.
The sword should have a blue handle along with the cross like symbol mounted on his chest. Review the voltron opener again from the cartoon and you'll see what I'm talking about. Until every detail is their its hard to say its a masterpiece.
. The problem I have with calling it a masterpiece is that not all the detail is there. There's a few things I noticed about mine I didn't like, one is that the red wings don't have the white decals in the middle like on the cartoon "I noticed yours do but mine don't" the second is that the black lions legs should be completely chrome like on the cartoon, they shouldn't have the black upper half and third the sword is completely wrong.
wow! that's kinda crappy that there are decal differences even though they are the same piece. i haven't removed it from the box so i don;t know what kind of problems mine has... hopefullty none. what number of the 15000 is yours?
I really can't say this is a Masterpiece. I have this Voltron and it is by far better than the original but the quality isn't nearly as good. At first I was skeptic but after buying the toy and going through many poses because of being so articulate this Voltron is definitely one to look at. As you mention in your video many of the joints loosen up very quickly after just a few poses.
Kev never made a review for the bigger plastic Voltron. I used to have them, but they went bye-bye. I still have the original diecast version, though.
i never paid much attention to it but the more i keep seeing this video, the more i want to get that masterpiece. i really want the "voltron mighty lion vehicles" u know those lions that are like 20' inches when they form voltron. anyplace i can find one for less than 30 dollars?(besides ebay)
Very cool review, that Masterpiece Edition looks like an amazing display piece. I was especially impressed by the posability. The only Voltron toy I ever got was the original (plastic) Black Lion from back in the day. The detail on this new version looks really nice. Excellent, thorough review! And congrats on your team winning the game. :)
sorry,i mean the price is 1/3 of this masterpiece.worth it n i already preorder one.heard that this will be the same design but only its made of pvc.go check it out man.worth it!
hi,there is a plastic version coming name as gift set.whick is 1/3 of this die cast.i think it will be better as plastic joint won't be loosen so easy.
You can get this figure from a number of places, one being Big Bad Toy Store. The other is Wal*Mart.com, expecially because it's probably cheaper and you can use the Site to Store service. I work for Wal*Mart and that's how I got mine. Now to wait for it to arrive. Thank goodness our site carries it, lol.
This is the baby I was commenting about on your original voltron lion review. I got this when it first came out. It's absolutely great, much more realistic looking to the cartoon, and more points of movement / articulation, though they could have done better with the shoulder joint movement.
I had a particular gripe about this toy or poseable statue. The quality isnt that great, way too expensive for what youre getting, might as well just buy more GB-36 originals from Japan instead and for something called MP, MP Optimus Prime has this lionbot beat by miles. Really sad because i was really anticipating this. :(
The more I see of Voltron, the more I realize what a huge rip-off Power Rangers was. I have those old toys somewhere at my parents' house... I should perhaps look into this thing.
Dude, you a man who takes pride in your history. Don't let any jerk tell you "you're living in the past" crap, because without learning, society has no future, so thanks for setting the record straight.
I doubt that Toynami is ever going to make the Vehicle Voltron Masterpiece since it wasn't as popular as the Lion Force. Nobody liked the Vehicle Team Voltron, he was always second best.
Things like this MP Voltron and vintage/reissue Transformers are all collectibles and not intended for play by children but ppl who are not into figures think we are immature guys who "play with toys". These are historic works of art, that's totally different. Soccer is playing too but ppl don't think that is immature though.
how much did it cost to buy it?

the orginal full metal version was bad ass. the only parts that broke were the legs thats only because if to much metal put pressure on them.

Thanx.

I have order Voltron from ebay
After 10 years finaly I will get it for the fisrt time and event beter is a masterpiece!!!!!!
I cant wait to come at home!!!!
stef300000 3 years ago
I bought mine off of Ebay for $56.00. It had a broken leg but was an easy fix. There's a Gift Set coming out soon using the Masterpiece molding but is made of all plastic. Retail will be around $50 to $60 dollars.

The sword should have a blue handle along with the cross like symbol mounted on his chest. Review the voltron opener again from the cartoon and you'll see what I'm talking about. Until every detail is their its hard to say its a masterpiece.
dadement1 3 years ago
. The problem I have with calling it a masterpiece is that not all the detail is there. There's a few things I noticed about mine I didn't like, one is that the red wings don't have the white decals in the middle like on the cartoon "I noticed yours do but mine don't" the second is that the black lions legs should be completely chrome like on the cartoon, they shouldn't have the black upper half and third the sword is completely wrong.
dadement1 3 years ago
wow! that's kinda crappy that there are decal differences even though they are the same piece. i haven't removed it from the box so i don;t know what kind of problems mine has... hopefullty none. what number of the 15000 is yours?
HOBBYHERO 3 years ago
I really can't say this is a Masterpiece. I have this Voltron and it is by far better than the original but the quality isn't nearly as good. At first I was skeptic but after buying the toy and going through many poses because of being so articulate this Voltron is definitely one to look at. As you mention in your video many of the joints loosen up very quickly after just a few poses.
dadement1 3 years ago
awsome piece man! i took mine out the box, took pictures and put it right back. thanks for the review.........

Kev never made a review for the bigger plastic Voltron. I used to have them, but they went bye-bye. I still have the original diecast version, though.

where can I get the pvc version?
dc4lsvtec 3 years ago
Very cool review, that Masterpiece Edition looks like an amazing display piece. I was especially impressed by the posability. The only Voltron toy I ever got was the original (plastic) Black Lion from back in the day. The detail on this new version looks really nice. Excellent, thorough review! And congrats on your team winning the game. :)

sorry,i mean the price is 1/3 of this masterpiece.worth it n i already preorder one.heard that this will be the same design but only its made of pvc.go check it out man.worth it!

It's absolutely great, much more realistic looking to the cartoon, and more points of movement / articulation, though they could have done better with the shoulder joint movement.

can u do a review on predaking, and awsome review
ultrakyogre45 4 years ago
I had a particular gripe about this toy or poseable statue. The quality isnt that great, way too expensive for what youre getting, might as well just buy more GB-36 originals from Japan instead and for something called MP, MP Optimus Prime has this lionbot beat by miles. Really sad because i was really anticipating this. :(

The more I see of Voltron, the more I realize what a huge rip-off Power Rangers was. I have those old toys somewhere at my parents' house... I should perhaps look into this thing.
Very cool.
Wonder if they'll get around to a movie.
VaportrailFilms 4 years ago
Actually, Super Sentai (the Japanese Power Rangers) came first.
GoRanger (the first Super Sentai in Japan) debuted in 1975, while GoLion (the Japanese Voltron) came in 1981.
