Encore un excellent musicien français expatrié pour cause d'incomprehension dans son pays natal... Remarque, pour jouer avec Uzeb, il a quand meme bien fait... :)
Raise your hand if you'd like to see Caron team up with Jeff Beck. I have to believe it'd be jazz-rock fusion out of this world! This cat smokes it!!!
@basicallybass: Sounds like he's using octaver and autowah on his upper strings only. His big split-coil neck pickup seem to split the signals from the B-E-A Strings and the D-G-C strings. And some Chorus in between sometimes, I'd say.
But it might as well be some sounds coming from a connected MID synth, since he's known to use MIDI quite a lot.
saw him a a clinic about 2 weeks ago and asked him to slow D-Code right down which he graciously did, no gimics or effects that i could tell, the man is amazing and D-Codec is the best bass playing ever recorded.
What continues to impress me the most about Caron's slap playing is his economy of motion - minimal movements, maximum speed. To be playing licks like that on a six-string... man.....
Alains accuracy ,is second to none , he truly world class, For you who don't know it he is now Dr.Caron, from the province of Quebec. His use of the V bass system id also very cool!.
this guy so cold he is useing his pinky finger to pop the 'G' and 'C' string what a bass player, I play bass to and I tryed to pop with the pinky to save me some time in rythm, and it did not work that good.
it looks so but it would be kinda of hard to do it, and somebody ina nother alain video said he only uses 3 finger... but hey im no expert, we got to ask alain:P
No, his pinky is practically popping the pickguard. It's pretty far away from the string, and it can't be a technical flaw since he's all about technique.
he only use 2 fingers to pop the string, I saw him yesterday in a master class, and he talked about his popping technique, he said he only use 2 fingers
I guess his thump has shield.

I've been a Jeff Berlin fan since 1977, and heard of few
Alain Caron things on youtube, . . but Jeff basically ruined
anyone elses chance of me liking them a lot, like I do Jeff.
Alain is an amazing player, no question.
But Jeff's playing kicks ass. Period.

Hehe, not really Dust Devil's "D-Code" remix of Tito Puente's track. This is something radically different!
But imagine if Alain Caron's songs made it into In the Groove! His tracks would be almost all expert 12s and 13s with those fast, driving bass riffs.
