Well I have a black and white smart car, and I love it, but I noticed they no longer but the Mercedes badge on the new smarts, mine has the original Mercedes badge
He's talking US gallons that are smaller UK gallons. I averaged 55mpg on UK gallons for the first 10 fills and now get about 60 with more economical driving.
Don't think of it as a proper car, it's an alternative. It's unsophisticated, bumpy, noisy, has an irritating gearbox but overall it puts a smile on my face when I see it or drive it. If it's going to be your only vehicle then don't buy one. I do 90% of my mileage in it and have a proper car for the odd journey it just can't cope with.
I RATHER KEEP MY 8.5 liter 1969 fleetwood broughman,my 440magnum doge monaco,my el dorado 1970 8.5 litter,my 1984 station wagen,my 1974 gran prix,my 1974 buick electra ,my 1964 220 merces benz and my old 1967 dodge pick up,than get on one of those coffins
In a head on crash with a Smart you would be dead... those older cars are big and heavy, but they have no crush zones, air bags, and crappy seat belts too. Look on You tube for smart car crash with an S class Mercedes... the S class Benz weighs as much as any of the cars you have, and the Smart did very well in this test. Most SUV's end up going up and over the A pillar in small cars then rolling over... I drive an 18 wheeler, and SUV's are what I see crashed and rolled most of the time.
You just proved that in a head on crash you won't die. In the S class vs. smart crash the cool German guys said that the occupants would live with minor injuries and possibly whiplash
they need to bring the diesel over here. If they did that it would make the car have 70 to 100 miles per gallon. Also it can use bio-diesel right now, and in a big city like la, ny, or any of the big ones you can find bio-diesel for the same price as what normal gas is going for now. That would make it a really smart car.
the newer diesel engines are getting 60 to 75 right now in a normal car. If you put it into a small light car like this it will get much more. but let say its 60, that is still 15 to 20 miles more per gallon then even most of hybrids out there. And if you make the care a diesel hybrid it would get even more. Right now today the Volkswagen has a diesel hybrid that gets 70 and the more work they do on it you it will keep going up and up.
2007 and under would have the Mercedes emblem....
I have a White/Black 2009...

I don't understand this guy's problem with saying a complete sentence. "Ummm" and "Uhhh" aren't adjectives.

it is supposed to be 40 city and 45 mpg on highway. where he got 32mpg I do not know.
Then, Toyota Yaris is 35mpg highway 32mpg city - much better choice over this car - and they are the same price

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This car is stupid. So the cars frame may still be intact when you hit a wall going 70mph but your internal organs wont be.
Going 70mph to 0 in a split second equals death.
