  • romack93 nailed it. if you hold it right, you dont get bruising either, or any pain. but the knoxx does cut a lot of the recoil regardless.

  • What kind of shot shell holder are u running on the stock

  • I tried out my Mossberg 500 Persuader with the Knoxx Spec Op stock and it DOES make a world of difference!! I fired 00Buck, 1oz slug, 3" Turkey loads, and 000 Premium Buckshot, a total of 25rds and my shoulder was fine. no soreness, no bruising, It worked awesome! The only time I felt any pain was when I would try to hold back the recoil with my left hand on the Surefire grip! but nothing on my shoulder. Great product!!

  • the recoil isn't changed at all when you shoot it one handed... it only would be efficacious if you push the butt of it against something (like your shoulder).... ~~~~physics!!!~~~~

  • Your cheek looks to be absorbing most of the shock tell me Honestly my man how does your cheek feel after shooting some 00buck with this knoxx recoil system?

  • is there any risk of barrel damage shooting slugs though it? my dad told me not to but i havent been able to find evidence to support him

  • you should lean into your shots a little more helps with the recoil

  • are these stocks available in the UK ?

  • Sorry for my previous comment didn't see it was a recoil reducing stock

  • Just looks like your not pulling the stock into your shoulder hard enough and that's why your recoil looks so high

  • @garrettzkool63 Hes shooting 3in slugs.

  • The recoil on the slugs looks significantly more violent in slow motion. I have one of these stocks on my check list for my 870 clone...I have heard great things about them

  • Showoff.. lol jk. But beautiful gun.

  • Nice gun!

  • we have shot many different rounds from bird shot to 00 buck and even slugs we practice good shooting mech.

  • i own this same shot gun and neither me or my wife have this kind of kick no fancy stock on it either

  • @rebeldawg2169

with shotguns recoil greatly changes with the type of shells you are using. the stock was mostly designed for users who use slugs or higher powered buck loads and users who shoot hundreds of rounds down range at a time. if you shoot lower powered buck or standard birdshot youd probably never have problems with recoil even after 500+ rounds.

  • In my opinion, lean in to it and you won't need the recoil reducing option. This is the best shotgun on the market for less than $350. I carry one daily for work. You can beat the hell out of these things and replace them every 5 years. These are also a good backup for bird hunting.

  • Do you know if that stock fits the 590 without the need for any modifications, thanks

  • @junglistJim

    yes it does

  • Yes it does, as long as you buy the mossberg 500/90 model.

  • @junglistJim

i believe it attaches just like any other stock.

  • I have this stock on my 590, im very happy with it, it does the job :)

    thanks for uploading this.

  • Recoil reduction stocks dont really make a difference.I wouldnt waste $120 on 1 of those stocks

  • @immortalrapper Thats a load of crap. Im not a really big guy but im not small either and with the knoxx stock on there I dont have a bruised shoulder after 60 shots.

  • @DThompson1985

haha. i bought a good recoil pad for $15 bucks from wal mart and I dont get a bruise on my sholder ..

  • @immortalrapper are you eating dog food or what. the Knox recoil reducing stock makes all the difference in the world. with one you can shoot slugs all day long with no soreness or bruising to your shoulder. without one your hurting and uncomfortable very quickly. I own a Knox opps stock on my moss 500 12 ga and I'm here to tell anyone that its the best investment you can put on any 12 Gage if you shoot a lot. Immortltrapper is just another brain dead you tube idiot..........

  • @mannexx111

hha whoa dude take a few deep breaths and calm down :L. its just a video . u dont needa go all bitchy over a comment? Im saying i wouldnt sepnd 120.00 on a stock wen i dont get hurt / bruised by it anyway. all u need is a good recoil pad. AMO

  • @immortalrapper There not a waste of money. They're awesome. You must have been interested in buying one to view this video in the first place.

  • @maverick939

hha i did like them until i saw the price .

  • @immortalrapper

I have a new mossberg. I have the pistol grip but am looking for a stock to hunt with. Any suggestions other that this one?

  • why are all the mossbergs on here so quiet? mines loud as fuck

  • cameras don't catch all the sound - too loud lol

  • cameras dont really catch all the sound mines loud as fuck to

  • @sharebear421 they are loud but the volume is low

  • most camera's have a hard time with sound above the 120db range.

  • @sharebear421

most cameras microphones arent designed to pick up the extreme decibels created by a firearm. essentially the mics cant hear the noise because its too loud.

  • @sharebear421 microphones dont catch all of the noise like your ears do.

  • Smart guy. No safety glasses on while shooting.

  • you dont need them, i only wear them at the range when im shooting pistols

  • Are you serious??? You really think that?? What if the gun malfunctions? What if residual powder is blown in your eyes?? What if the unknown happens?? Always expect the unexpected. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

  • keep the damn gun clean and it should reduce those chances by a lot but the residual powder can be washed out im sure.

And if it malfunctioned and blew up then the glasses would probly just fragment on impact anyways

  • ANSI-Z87 glasses are designed by the manufacturers specifically for that purpose. As a professional safety officer and paramedic I can tell you that guns do malfunction and explode. Especially older/cheap ones. I have pictures of z87 glasses with nails stuck in them that were ejected by nail guns. This is why nearly every spec ops team, SWAT team and law enforcement professional uses them whenever possible. Even the gun manual, any gun manual tells you to use them.

  • Oh,if youre a paramedic then you do know more about it than me, sorry.

  • Well, you likely know more about hunting guns than I do. I was in the Israeli Military and we trained a lot. Does not make me an expert on guns. I know about injuries though. I have a Mossberg 500 and I do enjoy it, I always wear eye protection, even when using hand tools, mowers or edgers. Just habit.

  • smart guy, one handing an 18.5" shotgun

  • Copy that Ghost Rider.

  • I have this same stock on my 500 and I love it I shoot nothing but slugs and 00 buck through it and the recoil feels a little less than a 20ga with a light game and target load I can shoot it all day with no soreness in my shoulder and it really helps with firing from the hip as well

  • @rodneypoe

The shoulder bruise is half the fun though!

  • what type of stock is best for a mossberg 500?

  • the on he is shooting no doubt i got it on my 590a1 and love it!

  • it's all down to personal preference, what ever feels good for you is for you

  • BOTACHTACTICAL sells the SpecOps recoil reducing stock for $99.99. They have a special package pricing if you choose to also get the PowerPak modular cheek piece accessory which consists of a raised and standard cheek pieces, a 5-shell holder, and a battery/storage compartment. I also got a 10% on-line discount coupon for the entire purchase. I'm not sure if they're still offering the 10% discount but you will know when you place your order!

  • CHEAPER THAN DIRT has this stock for less than 110 incl. shipping! well worth every penny!!! must have check out bclassfilms and my home made flame thrower

  • Hey dmorley100,

I got the SpecOps stock for $99.99 + S&H after shopping around the web. Some sites sell the same stock for as much as $150.00. It helps to look around first and compare prices.

  • We'll, where did you get it? Don't keep us in suspense! ;-]

  • i thought remington shells were green?

  • looks like it just delays the recoil by about 0.001 seconds, doesn't 'absorb' it

  • The knoxx specops stock is the best shotgun accessory/upgrade anyone can buy! I have one on my 870 and I was able to shoot 50 slugs during one range session and felt no pain, soreness, or fatigue. I could have shot 50 more slugs if I had the ammo (or the money to buy more ammo). It is flat-out amazing... it really works!

  • How much did your stock cost?

  • wait is deakion2008 and rabufox the same person cuz why are you replying to a response I wrote to Rab?

LoL and why are you shooting dear with Lead? Shouldn't you be using Sabots?

  • Oh ok so you're one of those "not safe unless the book says it's safe" guys.

Yeah no it won't do any more damage than a ricochet.

I don't know about a deer's anatomy but I know about walls. I shot a 115 gr. +P .38 special at a cheap aluminum cabinet and barely put little craters in it.

    But you're right a 12 gauge slug isn't much safer than a 9mm 147gr.

  • Actually strong have extremely unimpressive penetration ability. They're too wide and too soft. Sabot's are the way to go if you want to overpenetrate.

Somebody proved 9mm to penetrate better than 12 ga. slugs on a forum. I wish I had the link.

  • What shot gun would u recommend for a female???

  • I tried to get my co-worker to shoot my shotgun and she couldn't hold it up for more than a couple seconds.

I had to hold the shotgun up until she was ready to shoot then I had to hold her :-P (she shot a 2.75" slug)

    I didn't mind helping at all... :-D

  • Just got this gun today... It's a great buy... Cheap, fun, and just plain badass looking...

  • Thanks for the help.

  • Deakion2008:

    Height- 5'10

I'm definitely not a hulk. I can only bench around 115-125 max.

Supposedly, this stock fixes these problems I hear from friends.

  • is this a good shotgun for home defence?

  • absolutely, 18 inch barrel. 7+1mag... I have a 500A which is exactly like this excep its a 5+1 mag. I suggest checking out a local gun show to pick one up. thats what I did

  • This may sound like a stupid question but I'm not a particularly strong guy and I wonder if I could handle a 12 gauge? Or is it the way you hold it and your stance?

  • Itt would absorb even more recoil if he would hold the gun *tight* against his shoulder.

It took me a little bit to figure that part out

  • I have this stock on my 870 Remington and I can agree totally, this is the only stock to have, works perfectly!

  • is the mossberg 590a better then this gun?

  • the 590 has a thicker bbl and used by most police departments

  • what do those stocks go for?

  • this gun is in GTA IV:The Lost and Danmed

  • with his stance, even the lightest load would kick his butt. made the knoxx looked ineffective.

  • so im lookin for an auto loader but this moss is sweet man how much they run new? maybe a pump wouldnt bee too bad?

  • Pumps are MUCH cheaper than auto loaders and from what I've heard theyre MUCH more reliable. Plus the pump sound is just so fuckin kickass!

  • Im with Seinfeldfan411 on this one...get a 500 or a 590. Autoloaders are retarded.

  • Just got the NRS version, 12 gauge recoil doesn't bother me. The only drawbacks are the accessibility of the safety and the slide release with the stock on. how do you deal with it?

  • I noticed the ear pro. How is she sound wise?

  • Good one.

  • Love my Knoxx SpecOps stock on my Mossberg Mariner...

  • Almost like the barrel on a Browning Auto-5 except instead of just the barrel, the reciever and everything else in front of it recriprocates! Go0d one-hander to0. That's not easy to master. I've done it with a few pumps, autoloaders, and once with a side-by-side. Easiest to do with full pistol grip stock, but the humpback receiver on a Browning Auto-5 or Remington 11 kinda helps (but also kinda hurts).

  • its really nice how it reduce the recoil i just dont like the look i like the original stock look but cmon i know knoxx say about 95% of less recoil F***k the look give me one of those lol.

  • I think you can get a recoil reducing stock that looks like the original (not the pistol grip style). Check out their site.

    -jj

  • its called a compstock

  • @jjones11479 i like the stock its just the gun im buying which is the 590 has a stock that holds 2 shells inside it thought it was pretty coool

  • @jjones11479 if i was going to use this stock for phesant hunting and a bird flew out in front of me could i put the saftey off fast enough (i have small hands)

  • @WildLifeGuy308

there is no chance of hitting that safety in a split second if you are down on that pistol grip. you would have to carry it somehow with your thumb ready to hit the switch.

  • Right on brother :-)

  • Does the front of the trigger guard ever hit your trigger finger under recoil?

  • No, I have never had a problem with that.

  • what kind of heat shield did you install? did it come with ghost sights already on it? how much and where can I buy one? Thanks in advance.

  • The Advanced Technology Shotforce Deluxe Heatshield @ $24.99 from Cabelas. I it came with the ghost ring sites. . . but it isn't the best heat shield. It has two screws to pinch the barrel on the front, but then it is just 'slip fit'on the back. I am trying to figure out how to get a more positive grip on the back so it won't come loose (like some kind of hose clamp). You get what you pay for (i.e. this thing is cheap).

  • @jjones11479

ATI Is not known for there quality, If you want GRS I would suggest saving your money and get a proper set. You can install the rear one yourself, a gunsmith is reccomended to instal the frontsight.

  • @jjones11479 when in doubt...duct tape.

  • HollowGANtips88, why do you want you cheek completely off the the stock? you want to maintain a good cheek weld. I've heard the spec ops and ATI M4 style collapsible stock have too high comb for a proper sight picture with just a bead.

  • The 'Tactical' stock that I have has the option of using a low profile cheek piece or a raised cheek piece. I don't think it would be a problem.

  • Cool vid, but i was wondering if the pistol grip gets in the way when you have to access the slide release?

  • Slide release is a little awkward, definitely can't use it while the gun is shouldered ready to fire. When practicing 'switch to slug' drills, I have to lower the gun and adjust my grip.

  • Thanks for letting me know, ill probably end up getting a knoxx stock anyways.

  • How's using the mossy 500's top tang safety with a pistol grip-stock? ..seems the 88 might have the better safety location for grip-stocks.

  • Not very handy, but I never found the safety easy (even with the regular stock).

  • love my mossberg! sorry after watching this video i just had to shoot it one handed. great vid!

  • imprssive...verry impresive.

  • How do you install the stock? Is it something you can slide/clip on and off?

  • Nice setup, my 500 w/ the cheapo ATI M4 stock bruised the hell out of my shoulder after just 50 rounds at the range, only 10 were 3" 00 Buck & the rest were 2 3/4" birdshot.

  • I was going to buy one of these stocks for my 590, but when I called a local dealer they said they had discontinued them. He told me the stocks weren't worth anything and that he(a tactical shotgun instructor)would never allow their(knoxx) products on his course.

He also seemed pretty prejudiced against my mossy, saying the 870 was the best pump gun.

still want one, but I'm not sure anymore.

  • That is surprising. That would be the first bad review I have heard about the stock. Most departments endorse the stock because it allows a lot more rounds to be fired per training session (people won't shy away from the recoil, consciously or unconsciously).

The 870 is a great gun, but when I went to choose, I felt that the Mossy was the best gun for the price (allowing me to use more budget for the upgrades I wanted).

  • Repeat after me: "anything that helps ME fire my weapon better is worth MY money if I feel it is needed". Any 'dealer' or 'instructor' that doesn't feel this way is a complete idiot. Yeah, alright, he may not agree that Knoxx stocks reduce recoil enough to warrant the high price tag but not allowing them to be used on his course? Seems like shoddy business practices to me. Some systems just work better for most people, discounting one system because it doesn't work for you is idiocy.

  • Awesome Video, I've been looking at the Knoxx Stock for a while now. Specially after firing OO Buck Magnum rounds.

  • The 00 magnums CAN leave a mark that is for sure! I like the Knoxx because you can shoot all day and not be sore.

  • Right on, I love mine. I can shoot slugs all day with the stock, and not go home with a sore shoulder.

  • Very much. It reduces the recoil quite a bit more than I expected. I also like the adjust-ability factor of the M4 style stock.
